Esme is a Scottish romance author who writes books about demanding and possessive alpha-heros. Or anti-heros, when the mood takes her. They're usually gruff and hard, but that is until they meet the women who bring them to their knees.
In her spare time Esme writes sci-fi romance and sometimes remembers to eat. She's a mum of two very fiesty heroines and a wolf-hybrid, and she lives with her very own highlander-husband who she is trying to convince to do her audiobooks ;-)
Sophia is planning on getting out of her home town and starting over somewhere new. She doesn't like to be touched by any man and when her boss calls her to his office she's nervous, because she knows what goes on there. She's relieved when the man named Julian doesn't seem interested in her and she does about her night. Then he kidnaps her and things get complicated. There's things from her past she doesn't remember, but Julian plans on reminding her and he plans on keeping her as well. This is a good story, quick read and I highly recommend it!
On the whole, I thought this book was the perfect balance of intriguing, romantic and slightly dangerous, all wrapped up into a tasty little book. However, it did have a lot of potential that I felt wasn't unlocked.I really like Sofia, our main female lead, she had a certain spirit about her that made her likeable. But, I wish her background and earlier life was expanded upon it felt like we had to rely on our imagination quite a lot to explain the situation.
The same with our alpha male, Julian, there was so much unresolved potential in terms of who he is, why he was "entitled" to Sofia. The story did intrigue me, and the romance aspect was well done and I certainly enjoyed that part!
Enjoyable captive scenario with initial, brief dub con. However it felt rushed and some aspects were not explained or fleshed out . ...with the heroine magically comprehending events of which the audience has not been made privy.....and we are left questioning how they got from point A to point B. So ultimately disappointing when it had potential to be so much more. !
This book was too short, if the author has taken the time over it & explained the reason as to why the girl was taken, given more of an explanation as to how & why Julian knew her . It could have been a very good book. As it is the characters have no depth, background or personality. Overall a very disappointing book.
It's a good story, the main character is not perfect and he never tried to be and that's good he always keep his essence. The other main character needed to be better build, I feel like I never could meet her, she was always what others want her to be... I'm general it was a good story and i want to hear the next book.
I liked the story alot, my only criticism is that it was on the short side. I would have liked more detail and more depth in the main characters relationship, it really had a lot more potential. This was the story of a man determined to get back what was always his and a fiesty woman who didn't want to surrender. Will definitely read more from this author!!
Devlin gives the reader (me) 😉 the goosebumps through the whole book. It's beautifully written and sexy as hell. I love fast paced quick reads with HEA and she definitely delivered. Thank you Devlin
Not great but not bad. Could’ve used more conflict to spice up the story between the characters. There was some errors like in the first chapter Marco becomes Marcus but switches back to Marco.
It's a light, quick romantic read. Love the hero. I think due to the short length of the novel, the story lacked depth as in there were a lot of unanswered questions, which would normally be addressed by a book with greater length. Nevertheless, enjoyed it.
