HOW WOULD YOU FEEL if you woke up one morning to learn that your wife, the woman you were in love with and had hoped to spend the rest of your life with, had completely duped you from the beginning, and was not only in love with another man, but this man was her pimp, and she was his madam and his prostitute? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL when it became clear that your wife married you for the sole purpose of stealing your assets, that to her you were just another of her tricks, one who, instead of paying "up front," was expected to pay "at the end," through a divorce settlement? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL when you learned that your beloved wife was running her segment of a multi-state, multi-million-dollar prostitution ring literally from your bedroom on your wedding night, after you had drifted off to sleep? I'm Paul T. Goldman, and this happened to me.
This would have to be one of the worst books I have ever read.
True story? Maybe, but I doubt it. Except maybe in the authors mind. I googled the author and found nothing apart from links to this book. Nothing to back up his claims of truth.
I wasn't very far into the story when I began to get annoyed. I found none of the characters likable, the main character pathetic and don't get me started on the "pet psychic".
Did read it and I thought the writing was not bad but the story, although interesting in the beginning, started to annoy me.
If you go to Russia to find a trophy wife and then do not learn from your mistakes and marry a very bad woman who you have known for a very short time.I am sorry, not interested any more in reading about stupidity.
Inside this book is a very powerful story of betrayal. It is beautifully written, as a matter of fact so well, that I thought it work of fiction just for a second.
As I verified to myself that this is true story, I continued. And to my horror I found how unjust the world can be to a lonely and somewhat desperate guy.
I find myself sympathizing with Paul, sometimes - feeling pity, amongst other feelings akin to rage on unbelievable scale, towards a complete stranger that has forsaken her humanity for lots and lots of money. Think of a price tag on soul, how much is yours worth to you? She sold hers cheaply.
Though, what I love most about Paul's book, is that he's not afraid to put it all in writing. He practically admits his guilt of being lonely and desperate and still says: "Here are all my faults, but look what I made happen after enough was enough!".
Thank God he's alive and well to tell the story and hopefully his work will be complete someday soon. Thank God there are still nice guys out there that just want love and good connection, and are completely honest.
An electrifying and riveting tale of one man's nightmare horror of being "married" to a world class con artist. Very difficult to put down- just when you think Mr. Goldman couldn't get any more crushed..... an anvil always lands on top of him ! The story tells a terrifying tale of greed, deception, prostitution, and a river of lies that runs too deep to believe. Hopefully there is a follow up to this because This con artist must have many many other victims who suffered as badly. Does she ever actually get caught by IRS, FBI, or Welfare Dept. for all of her frauds ? Will we find out ? Great read- Don't pass this one up !! 5 stars out of 5 !! Don't miss !!!!
Near the top of every adult's greatest fears is the fear that we will one day discover that someone we have loved and trusted has betrayed us. This book reads almost like a horror story, but the events described within actually happened to the author. He was swindled by his wife in a most brutal, heartless way.
His story isn't one of a man who was victimized and then accepted his fate, though. After his wife deceived him and stole his money, he set out to regain his life. His resolve his commendable. Glad to have read this book. It is both a cautionary tale (to heed red flags and avoid blind trust) and an inspiration for those of us who find ourselves beat down. Be sure to check
Paul Tuberculosis Goldman has a hat collection they will write about in the world book encyclopedia and he didn't once mention it in this book, which is odd. I assume what happened was he hired an editor to work on the book but after all the psychics and private investigators and lawyers, he could only afford a few hours with the editor and the editor only had time to remove all mentions of Paul's epic hat collection.
This is a fast paced interesting read. If you are a fan of true crime, 20/20 type stories you will enjoy this book. The dishonesty and psychopathic actions of Paul Goodman’s wife will flabbergast you.
It was good for the most part, I'm gonna be honest in saying that I read the book on the argument that it was a true story. For a true story it's simply astonishing that a man went through all that, not unbelievable but astonishing. I thought for sure there'd be more to the actual prostitution ring, maybe even a followup to that but it concluded with a resonding victory for Paul in court. Additionally I uncovered that he has rewritten the book as "Double Life/Double Wife" for anyone looking for a recent copy of this book. The writing wasn't that great and Paul is relatable to a certain degree...showing his fault in marrying both Talia and Audrey can't be easy at the same time in a sense he did rush a lot of things and overlooked a lot of details. Love is blind I guess up until a point, although you do have to admire the guy's dedication to true justice. Also....pet psychic
I don't think I have ever read a true life story quite like this. From page one, Goldman takes the reader along with his pursuit for true love that leads him from one unimaginable scenario to the next--all with his own wife.
Determined to expose his wife for what she is--a prostitute, thief, and a liar of the most unimaginable kind, this is a story that you have to read to believe. "Duplicity" takes readers to a whole new level of how far some will go to make money without any kind of remorse or consideration for the people around them.
True story crime fans will without a doubt enjoy this book as much as I did, as well as anyone looking for love and wanting to avoid all the wrong turns in doing so.
This book has been written by a man who has been to hell and back in a go-kart. Some reviewers don't agree with his life choices but whatever your views on them, there can be no doubt that his book is both gripping and thought provoking. Taken to the cleaners by his wife and his partner, many men would have crumbled under the pressure of betrayal, yet the author turns the negatives into positives. It is both an addictive storyline and a warning to those who trust too easily. I could see this being a documentary on a crime channel. Great book well written and hats off to the author for baring his soul. Five stars from me!
Very poorly written, the writer lacks both story-telling and basic writing skills. Not remotely believable, characters not developed - plot inane, has all the character of a shopping list. The writer claims that "Hollywood" is interested in making a movie about this book. That is the least believable of all his claims. Anyone who optioned this, Indie or Mainstream, would be looking for a new career. I hope his wife goes on to bigger and better things - I don't really care about him. Doofus is as Doofus does.
This book was kind of dishonest, in the sense it was a crime dossier masquerading as a novel. I thought it was boring and poorly written. I read the entire thing because I was waiting for a major payoff at the end. Maybe too much about the book is given up-front. It was so boring reading through the discriptive details to get to the facts...maybe this says something about the writer's skills.
YOU HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE LIKE THIS...BUT TO MARRY ONE, AND THEN FIND OUT HOW SICK THEY ARE WOW, WHAT A NIGHTMARE THIS MAN HAS LIVED, HE IS BLESSED THAT HE GOT OUT WHEN HE DID!
