This should be required reading for teachers, especially female teachers. Though this book is made up a variety of texts (short stories, letters, political speeches…), my favorite part was reading the diary entries. I felt so connected to and inspired by these women.
Thanks to the variety of texts, the pace of this book is quick and engaging. I didn’t know how little I knew about the history of our country’s education.
Teacher or not, I would recommend this to anyone interested in history, education, or the evolving place of women in the professional world.
