First book on Bebras Challenge and Computational Thinking: Hindi and English: बेब्रस चैलेंज और कम्प्यूटेशनल सोच का परिचय

Rate this book
I have first introduced readers to Computational Thinking (CT) and then narrated how Bebras challenge is propagating all over the globe year by year since its inception. The elements of CT, Abstraction, Pattern Recognition, Logic, Algorithms, Decomposition and Evaluation with nice examples and lucid language in both English and Hindi as the book is aimed for Juniors. Also, I have briefly introduced how Bebras challenge got initiated and getting accepted widely around the world.More than 100 Junior level tasks are included in this book along with their translations in Hindi with explanations for answers. Each task is ended with a discussion on what concept of CT is used in it. Also, how the same is used in practice is informed for the sake of prosperous teachers. Some tasks are provided with some links where teachers can get more information about the same theme so as to make their class more interesting while discussing that theme. Some tasks discussed here introduce the reader to forensic sciences. Also, some tasks introduced the reader to database systems and their need in practice. Also, the essential need for sorting in many real time examples along with the need for better algorithms. In the same fashion, the linked list concept of data structures is explained with many live examples such as the treasure hunt game, document registration, etc. Also, some tasks enlighten the students about data encryption and data compression in practice with hints to Huffman coding. In computer science, the most beautiful and challenging area is finite state machines. Some tasks that use this concept in solving are explained in detail with extra information to the teachers. Also, solutions of some tasks need the concepts of Computational Graphics (painter’s algorithm) and Image Processing. Many task’s solutions and explanations include number systems in general and binary with main emphasis along with a number system in hypothetical terrestrial objects such as mars. Some tasks demanded the use of Graph Theory, queues, stacks. Also, many tasks elucidates the concepts of Programming elements and Robot Programming. Some examples illustrate how nicely modulus operators can be used in real life problems. For example, how to find whether a reserved berth in an Indian Railway coach is upper berth, lower berth, side lower, side upper, middle berth, etc. is solved with various types of coaches that are used in India along with other countries' example coaches also.Fractal’s use in practice is discussed in one example. Convex hull and its practical use is explained with some tasks along with detailed discussion on onion peeling method and its use for ozone mapping. Some tasks introduce the problems in the Internet, Cloud in an understandable manner. Also, some tasks emphasize the need for trees in Computer Science with real life explanations. Also, some discussion on optimization(local and global), computational complexity is included with some task’s solutions. In a nutshell, the tasks selected makes the students to be aware of prominent Computer Science and Informatics themes such and interleaved executionNumber systems in general along with emphasis on binary and octal systemsSorting algorithms, Binary SearchingGraph traversal algorithmsTree traversal algorithmsData encryptionRobotic problemsMaze problemsOptimization in EngineeringComputer GraphicsComputational GeometryStacks in practiceBufferingCloud computingGPS, etc.,
