Loved this fantasy story, stayed up late at night to finish it.

This book had enough realism and fantasy woven together to make it believable. There were twists and turns in the story to keep each of the 3 books unpredictable. I would love a spinoff seris because the characters felt like old friends and I want to follow their story longer. Would recommend.

Great ending!

It went pretty much how I expected it to go. It looks like it could have another trilogy of miss Eaton wanted to write some more. I loved the trilogy, hope to see more.

So amazing

This series blew my mind! I could literally see these books play out in my head as I was reading. I pray we get to see more of these characters some day and can’t wait to read more by this incredible author!

A real good series

Throughly enjoyed this series. Plenty twists and turns, with good world building. The main characters are typical teenagers bar their special ability

I'm going to have to rate this one 3 stars. It's not bad, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first two installments.

Cons:

× So I don't know what the point was between and Becca having a fight with him being all "I'm broken now, we can't be together" only to make up and kiss literally twenty seconds later. I thought he was going to be made at her about the revelation and that she kept it from him, but nope. Let's toss in this drama that lasted for like two pages.

× So was the big baddie and I'm kinda disappointed. I thought this author was going to pull out a you thought! moment and reveal someone else entirely to be the big baddie, but uh...no. Even though there was the perfect opportunity to make at least three other people the actual baddie and slap us in the face with it . It was just underwhelming because the first two books did a fantastic job at keeping me guessing and in this book it's just "this is the antagonist" almost from the getgo.

× I seriously don't remember who Thompson is and I didn't care enough to go flip back through the book/previous books to be reminded. Which was weird, because you'd think I'd remember a guy who has the ability to make people freeze/"pause".

× The characters recover from their physical injuries way too quickly. They've been tortured and beaten (one person was in a coma for crying out loud), some for months, and yet within just a few days, they're up walking, hugging, and moving around without much of a problem. We're talking about people with broken ribs, fractured bones, concussions, mental trauma, and so forth. I'm a tough cookie, but let me tell you, if my cheek was fractured, I had been tortured/beaten, and had a few ribs broken, I would not be up gallivanting around a few days later. I think the author realized this afterward while writing, because there's some special, random, unnamed mineral that speeds up recovery, but it was a weak save.

× So, big baddies reason for doing all of this was because he was mad that ? This whole thing was just a wild deadly temper tantrum?

× So...what happened to Sariah's drive that sent her to the dark side to begin with? Because we never got closure on it. I know Sariah wasn't a big character, but she still played a role in this series. Maybe I missed it or maybe it was supposed to be implied you-know-who was behind her mother's death, but the fact we never got actual answers feels like it was forgotten about.

× I don't understand how dream walking can give someone the ability to temparorily, even with Becca's enhancing.

× So characters like did some messed up things, such as killing people, threatening and kidnapping children for expirements, and at the end they just...get off scott free? Yes, second chances are important, but they need to be earned, not handed out. In most cases, you have to deal with the consequences of your actions before you get that second chance and can make amends. These two were mentioned having a romantic relationship with their significant other and nothing else in the end.

Pros:

× There were a few scenes/speeches that got me misty-eyed.

× There's a surprise birthday party. I love surprise birthday parties for characters. It's so sweet.

× I really loved the idea of dream walking and I was intrigued by Shemnon. I still want more on him, because it feels like there was more to his character we didn't get.

× I still love Raven's ability in being able to talk to animals.

× Some of the side characters, and even the children, got some deserved screen time and weren't shoved in the background to be forgotten about until the climax, which I appreciated.

× And I've said if before, so I'll say it again: I adore how Becca doesn't just up and forget about her grandparents because they're dead. She still takes time to remember them and think about them. I also really loved her journey of going from hating the mother she never knew to loving her and wishing she had gotten a chance to spend time with her more beyond dream walking. This relationship with her mother was probably the strongest thing and my most favorite out of this entire series. It was so powerful.

So while this book gets a 3 out of 5 stars from me, I think the series overall gets at least a 4 out of 5. It was a pretty fun series and one of the few trilogies that kept me hooked up until the end. I definitely enjoyed the first two books more than the third installment, but it was in no way bad. I just had too many personal gripes with this last book. Despite my complaints, it still did a lovely job at wrapping up this series.

This story is such a cool concept. I’ve never read a book quite like this one. Very original. A “great job!” to the author!
