I'm not sure why I picked this up—that's the problem with having a long list and occasionally picking something from the middle of the pile. I wasn't expecting such a blatant wish-fulfillment romance, though I kind of like the twist that Aspen is the successful mostly-self-made billionaire. I liked how well she does the take-charge thing and that she isn't afraid to go after things she finds important. I also liked that while she has to consider rich-girl problems like being sued by people who save her life she doesn't let that make her cynical or beyond-reason defensive.

Hank isn't bad as a protagonist, either, though he's more caricature than character. After the first couple chapters, I pretty much settled into the book as a kind of funny, over-the-top macho guy who is at least good-natured and willing to try new things. He really is one big stereotype but, like Aspen, I'm oddly fascinated by a take-charge throw-back who can at least pretend to courtesy.

And Hank isn't the only stereotype in the story. Aspen's gay assistant is a string of clichés and I cringed a lot with his over-involvement in her life (dressing her I might have rolled with, but he's forever in her private spaces including the naked ones and that doesn't work so well). I mean, I'd have cringed as much with a female assistant being that involved and I'm not sure why the reader is expected to think it's no big deal just because he's gay. Hank hangs up on it about as expected, though I did like how it became clear he wasn't reacting to the gay, just the intrusions.

So finding humor in the over-the-top cliché-laden wish-fulfillment was keeping me going. Unfortunately, the sex is nearly constant and Hank is crude and he talks a lot. And being in his head is worse. It doesn't help that he uses sex to solve problems because he apparently has magic, uh, bits. At one point his mother (!) tells him to tell Aspen how he feels about her, so, naturally, he goes in and sexes her up some more and considers the job done. To be fair, his method works pretty much every time. So hello more wish-fulfillment, I suppose.

So the sex, or rather, the crude delivery of it, eventually made it impossible for me to kid myself further about enjoying the ridiculousness of it. I'm not sure where I'd have landed if I weren't thrown out by the relentless crassness but that's where we are, I'm afraid. And normally I wouldn't bother rating when it's such a clear taste mismatch but the story really is a big pile of cliché laced with stereotype that manages to be funny—possibly intentionally.

Ask my husband and he'll tell you that my mood is affected by what I'm reading. If I'm reading something angsty and sad then I'm a grumpy, miserable, ugly-crying mess - and probably loving every second. If I'm reading something happy then I'm all smiles and good cheer - and definitely loving every second. I know I shouldn't let books affect me so badly but I can't help it. It's why I love to read - the chance to discover, explore and immerse myself in a new world, happy or sad. Angel Falling, the first book in Audrey Carlan's Falling series, was a new world for me and it had me smiling from beginning to end. Thank goodness there is a second book waiting for me. I'm not ready for my journey to NYC to end yet. Oh lord, I'm talking about journeys - I need to stop watching so much reality TV and concentrate solely on reading...I'm getting overly emotional.

Hank Jensen is a country boy in the big city - New York City, that is. He's doing alright with ladies but there's one in particular who has caught his eye. Every morning he watches from his construction site as a beautiful woman walks into the building he's working on. She's put together, obviously wealthy and unlikely to ever be interested in, or talk to, a cowboy - even if he is also a Southern Gentleman.

Aspen Bright-Reynolds is a strong, successful and gorgeous businesswoman. Too bad her personal life hasn't been as successful as her professional one. She'd never noticed the hunky Hank until an accident sees him save her life and brings two people from two different worlds together.

Naw, this was a really lovely story. Seriously, I'm still grinning while I'm writing this because I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Aspen and Hank falling in love. There were a few things that made this book exactly the sort of book I like to read. 1) A cowboy. A Texan cowboy, in fact, that's a little bit old-fashioned, a little bit caveman and a lot sexy. 2) A billionaire - especially since our heroine was the one raking in the cash and offering the finer things in life. That's a nice change up. 3) A gay best friend with a sexy fireman boyfriend. There's a story I'd like to read. Please?? And 4) A love story with enough obstacles to make (and keep) it interesting but not so many that I start stomping around and cursing the world (and my husband).

I'm finished with this book but I really don't want to be. I mentioned my journey (and my addiction to reality TV), right? So here I go, with a bounce in my step and a light heart to read London's story. I hope it's as good as Aspen and Hank's because I think my husband prefers it when I don't yell at him over a book...

This is the first book in the i>Falling series but can be read as a standalone, no cliffhanger. ~ Beth, 5 stars

~~~
Hank “The Hunk” literally saves his angel from death by pushing her out of the way of a construction accident in his job site.
Aspen, the owner of the company that hired Hank, and owner of the building is pushed out of danger by Hank. When she offers to take care of him after his release from the hospital, that’s where the steam turns up.
They have not even left the hospital when Hank starts in on Aspen. He wants her and isn’t shy about letting her know it. (And thank God for that!!) While Aspen does want Hank also, she is also worried about what people may think. She is VERY rich, and VERY powerful.
Add in Oliver, the uber gay and fabulous best friend and assistant to Aspen and you have a trio that will make you pant, laugh, and maybe shed a tear or three. I am so glad I was given a chance to read this book. Audrey has a writing style that’s all her own. She is descriptive enough to make your panties wet but not gross you out.
The heat level on this book is off the charts and you will be doing a great disservice to yourself by not reading this book. So my advice is to buy the book, stock the batteries, grab a partner and reap all the benefits that reading this book will grant you! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars
You know the phrase “opposites attract?” Aspen and Hank could not be more different, but from afar Hank has had his eye on the beautiful, untouchable stranger, which is what saved her life when a construction site disaster could have been a fatal disaster. As Hank recovers from the injuries received from being impaled by a falling beam in an effort to save Aspen’s life, Aspen sees to all of his medical needs. His earthy masculinity and down-to-earth honesty is a far cry from the polished and fawning men Aspen has known. Even as Hank’s “take what he wants” attitude gets “up close and personal,” Aspen finds her response to his slightly Neanderthal methods a complete turn on, and he is winning her heart as well as her body. Her biggest fear? How would he fit into her high-powered New York life? Hank is a rancher from Texas, a hands on owner of his own construction firm, but his roots are firmly planted in the Texas soil, where family, honesty and earning every single callous is what makes a man. In bed, they are perfect, but neither could live the other’s life. Aspen has hundreds of employees that depend on her, she is rich, independent and a powerhouse in her world. Is there a compromise that can be reached or will their brief time together become a memory as the collision of their worlds must come to an end?
Angel Falling by author Audrey Carlan is one of those contemporary, erotic romances that will threaten to melt your eyeballs and make you break out in a feverish sweat. If you are normally a little shy about erotica, take a chance on this romance, where the Big Apple meets the modern version of the Wild West, there is enough real story to make you laugh, gasp and love these characters. Supporting characters make this a completely fun read, as the comic relief of Aspen’s sister and ESPECIALLY her best friend and personal assistant, Oliver will make you laugh out loud! For me, Oliver was a true gem! The dialogue, both mental and verbal is filled with a real touch of “normalcy,” that makes the characters human. Aspen is a force to be reckoned with in the business world, Hank is pure country to the extreme, but I think he is hiding a great mind behind his façade.
Ms. Carlan must write with steam coming out of her ears as each sensual moment nearly bursts into flames on the page with its raw intensity. She has a flare for mixing heat and humor, over the top characters and love that makes Angel Falling one of those guilty pleasures you’ll want to hideaway with!
I received a review copy from Audrey Carlan in exchange for my honest review.
KLAPPENTEXT:
Aspen Reynolds hat alles, wovon viele träumen. Sie ist reich, attraktiv und steht auf der Forbes-Liste der erfolgreichsten Frauen. Doch sie gehört nicht zu den typischen Park-Avenue-Prinzessinnen. Aus eigener Kraft hat sie ihr Unternehmen zu dem gemacht, was es heute ist. Sie befindet sich auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Karriere – und dennoch fehlt ihr etwas im Leben. Etwas, von dem sie glaubt, es nicht zu vermissen. Bis der markante Hank Jensen sie aus einer tödlichen Gefahr rettet. In seinen Armen erlebt sie ungezügelte Leidenschaft und Stunden voller Lust. Er übt eine unwiderstehliche Anziehungskraft auf sie aus, aber Hank kommt nicht aus ihrer High-Society-Welt. Kann ihre Liebe dennoch bestehen?
MEINE MEINUNG:
Ich habe von der Autorin bisher zwei Reihen gelesen, von denen mir eine ganz gut und die andere überhaupt nicht gefiel. Deshalb war ich sehr gespannt, ob mich ihre neue Reihe von sich überzeugen kann. Der Unterschied zu bisher ist, dass die Bände dieser Reihe jeweils in sich abgeschlossen sind.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin war ganz angenehm und auch leicht zu lesen. Man kommt sehr schnell durch die Geschichte durch und dementsprechend hatte ich einen guten Lesefluss und habe nicht lange für das Buch gebraucht.
Aspen alias „mein Engel“ (wie sie gerne von Hank genannt wird) mochte ich in den ersten Seiten als Protagonistin eigentlich echt gerne aber ihre spätere Naivität hat dem ganzen dann doch einen Dämpfer verpasst und ich wusste mit jeder weiteren Seite nicht ganz, was ich von ihr halten soll.
Genauso war es auch mit Hank alias „mein Hengst“ (sein Spitzname von Aspen), denn im weiteren Verlauf hatte ich oft das Gefühl, dass er etwas zu sehr auf das körperliche fixiert ist. Außerdem gab es ein paar Aspekte z.B. in Bezug auf sein Frauenbild, die ich etwas problematisch fand.
An sich war die Handlung aber zu keiner Zeit langweilig und ich habe das Buch sehr schnell durchgelesen. Ich hätte mir zwar etwas weniger erotische und dafür emotionalere Szenen gewünscht aber im Großen und Ganzen konnte das Buch gut unterhalten. Ich bin gespannt, wie mir der zweite Band gefallen wird!
FAZIT:
Hinter diesem Buch steckt eine wirklich klasse Idee, aus der man aber meiner Meinung nach noch mehr hätte machen können. Auch wenn mich das Buch und die Charaktere nicht ganz von sich überzeugen konnten, fand ich es für zwischendurch angenehm zu lesen.
Angel Falling is the first in a series centering on small group of New Yorker’s, starting with Aspen Reynolds. The Falling series starts off with a bang, a literal crash of machinery and building parts that kicks our storyline into gear.
Angel Falling is told in alternating point of views, beginning with that of the lone non New Yorker in this story, one Hank Jensen. Hank is not only NOT a New Yorker, but he’s a cowboy from Texas. He immediately describes his interest in one beautiful blonde so we knew where things were going. We just didn’t have an inkling how quickly they would get there, they got there fast. On one particular morning, Hank proves himself the ultimate caveman & protectorate, introducing us to the hero qualities of cowboys. With the introduction of Aspen, nicknamed Angel by Hank, and Hank we are decidedly in favor of a hot and long romance between Hank and Aspen. These two share an instant connection and their immediate lust for each other is slated unapologetically.
The characters, both primary and secondary are utterly likable. I was drawn to the story because Aspen, our heroine is identified as one of the lone female billionaire moguls in contemporary romance. She is a reluctant socialite and an ambitious and smart business woman who has been denied a genuine loving relationship. That is until she meets Hank Jensen. What follows their inadvertent introduction is a whirlwind romance flavored with a struggle for domination, where Hank starts out in the one position he doesn’t enjoy, at Aspens penthouse. Hank, being the alpha male he is needs a certain amount of control and with Aspens chaotic life, Hank goes all alpha male in order to court Aspen.
Hank Jensen is a superb life saver/super hero, and construction company owner, and caveman cowboy. The story is long on hot sex and the author has a great talent for writing sweet and sexy scenes. Aspen and Hank trudge along merrily but there always seems to be a gotcha. We have to have some angst and we get it. Circumstances being as they are result in Aspen and Hank questioning how their differentiating backgrounds and lifestyles could even mesh & each are faced with the question of wondering if they can make it together.
One of my favorite secondary characters is Oliver, Aspens best friend. Although for as much as Oliver is in Aspens life, he really shouldn’t be relegated as second to anything. Oliver is immediately supportive of Hank and he doesn’t hesitate to say so. The witty dialogue writing and one off banter is owned by Oliver. I found myself chuckling and shaking my head at many of his one off quips such as “Oh, color me pretty - he’s a cowboy. I love cowboys!” This is comedic dialogue writing with a punch and it really gives the reader a sense of the characters. This really helps the story flow along well and I found it to be an easy & enjoyable read. Ms. Carlan also does an amazing job with Hank’s caveman voice which isn’t always easy to get across as dominant and gentle all at the same time.
I liked the book so much so that about half way into it I put London Falling ( book 2 in the Falling series) on my Want to Read shelf. I was confident that the writing would remain solid and the storyline sweet (& sexy)
Do yourself a favor and pick up this series.
I received this book for my honest review.
I have to thank my dear friend Cyndi Becker for telling me about this author and this amazing read.
Come take this journey with Aspen (aka Angel) and Hank with me as I did with them.
Angel-successful business woman with a heart of gold, and spunky
Hank-Hot construction owner with a big heart and mind
This couple reminds me of the television show Green Acres meets NYC but Green Acres stays for the long haul or does he? Taking this journey with them was erotic yet sensual and highly loving. I felt like I was invading a precious moment in time while reading this book. The proverbial fly on the wall is a constant reminder in this book. Each time I turned the page it felt like I was invading there space yet they knew I was there but just overseeing how things were progressing in their lives.
Angel is the high society woman that dreams big and makes her dreams come true except in the love department. But, when circumstances arise that Hank saves her there is this jolt in time that brings that spark back into her life. They both know the spark is there and don’t deny it. Angel however wants to play coy at times but then when she feels that Hank has the same spark and is not afraid to admit it her life turns with a blink of an eye or was it that rod in Hanks pants that she just had to have a feel of?
Hank is the construction owner that is building Angel’s latest creation and is injured while saving her. He immediately feels the spark with her and hence she is his Angel right from the start. He is the country boy raised on the farm and is very successful in his own right. He feels for her at first kiss and knows what he wants from there on out. He no way hides anything this country boy has all the right words along with the sex in his pants and is not afraid to use it in order to get what he wants for all eternity and he wants his Angel. Does he get what he wants? Does this couple make it? Do they fall happily and madly in love? Hmm guess you will have to pick up the book to find out.
Kudos to this author for one amazing read that had me from page 1 and didn’t let me go until the very end and still had me wanting more of this couple. I love the way that you provided insight into two different worlds without straying from the building of love with these two. The sex is so hot in this book that you need glasses and glasses of ice water to keep a cool down going.
Please pick up this hot hot hot read. You so will not be disappointed you will be amazed how hot the heat can get.
Oh let me not forget you have Ollie the gay guy that loves Angel to pieces
Dean is Ollie's better half and doesn't mind sharing Ollie till Hank comes into light.
Please take the time and pick up this book you will so love it.
Amazing Read.
My Rating:
4.5
Favorite Quotes:
“They were the color you couldn’t find in a box of crayons. Those clear blue and gray eyes made me believe that I would submit to anything she asked and do whatever she wanted just so that I could continue to look at them.”
“Are you kidding? I’m married to a Jensen honey. If Hank is anything like my Henry, and based on what you’re wearin’,” she pointed a finger up and down and then stopped at the collar of my shirt, “and that huge love bite there on your neck says he is, you could end up permanently bow-legged.”
My Review:
This is my first experience reading Audrey Carlan and I enjoyed it so much, I plan to make my way through her body of work. The first descriptor that comes to mind is haaawwtt! The second descriptor would be comfortable. It was a humorous, fun, spicy, and relaxing read as throughout most of the book, the characters were enjoying each other, having fun, and building a relationship, and I so appreciated that. I am more than a bit burned out on angsty reads or ones where the characters are either in constant conflict with each other and themselves. So I found this author’s easy breezy style to be just what I needed to lift my spirits, and keep me engaged and entertained. The story was fresh, and the secondary characters are as interesting as the two headliners. I can’t wait to see who is next in the series.
A friend recommended this Author and book, and I'm so glad she did. I've loved every page, yes I was hooked from the very first. I must also mention how much I enjoyed the writing style, the story just flowed between the two main characters.
This beautiful story takes you on an emotional roller coaster, had me laughing out loud and crying a long with the characters. Our hero Hank the Texan falls for Aspen the high powered wealthy business women. Their worlds could not be more different, yet they fit together perfectly, they are two halves of a whole. The attraction is instant, as the sparks fly between these two, they set my kindle on fire with their Hotness. There are some great characters in their story, I especially loved Ollie and Hanks Ma.
I would highly recommend you read this, I shall most certainly be reading more from this Author.
Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
4 STARS
This is one of those books that I toyed with what star rating to give it but ultimately I went with four instead of 3 or 3.5 because the story is really good, what bothered me was the stereotypical portrayal of the hero and his family. I often shy away from books set it Texas or centered about Texans for this reason, unless the person writing is from Texas, but I kept hearing good things about Angel Falling by Audrey Carlan so I decided to buy it for myself and check it out. I’m not sorry I did; I enjoyed the characters all of them (despite having real issues with the almost cartoonish behavior and language of some of them), the plot was interesting, and the love story intriguing in the fact that the hero and heroine were from very different walks of life. Overall I found this story to be amusing at times, emotional, and extremely sexy.
In New York on a building contract for his construction company Hank Jensen doesn’t really care for the city much but he doesn’t mind the scenery especially the beautiful woman who walks into the building he’s adding on to every day. When he jumps in to keep her from being critically injured, injuring himself in the process he knows his life will never be the same without Aspen Reynolds.
Hank is one of those heroes you can’t help but adore because he’s pretty much made up his mind that he wants Aspen and is going to figure out a way to get her. Sure it’s all lust at the beginning but it doesn’t take long to realize he’s playing for keeps although in typical male fashion he keeps that information to himself. A successful businesswoman, Aspen has never need a man for anything and after getting her heart stomped on she’s not sure she wants to repeat that again but something draws her to Hank like no other and there’s more to it than the fact he saved her life. The sparks fly around these two like nobody’s business and once Hank is even semi on the mend, they burn up the sheets and every surface they can find. There is no problem with the physical aspect of their relationship.
Where I had issues with this book is Hank’s reaction to Aspen’s gay best friend and assistant. The man supposedly went to the University of Texas in AUSTIN and had never been around gay men…sorry but I call bullshit on that right there. While he may have never had gay friends, I guarantee he’d seen gay men and women before because they are all over the state of Texas. While some of his slang was acceptable a lot of it was not and the way his parents were portrayed I might as well have been watching an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies, I was really a little sad that the author went down that road.
The secondary characters were just as outstanding as the primary ones leading me to believe that the other books in this series will be equally entertaining. I flat out loved Aspen’s best friend Oliver and his partner, Dean as well as her sister, London. Hank’s mother was funny and wise and open minded which I appreciated. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every sexy minute these two shared but realistically these two needed to talk more about how different their lives are, discussed their feelings a bit more, and talk about what they’d like from each other in the future. That being said for a debut book, Angel Falling was very good bordering on great and I have great hopes for author Audrey Carlan’s future work.
I absolutely loved this book, it had everything you look for in a good erotic romantic read. The story kept my attention right from the start and held it to the end. I had a really hard time putting this book down once I started reading it. The characters and their feelings were so intense and the chemistry was intense. I loved them all, from the main characters to the secondary ones.
Aspen is a high society executive and very successful business woman and she is beautiful in her looks and in her soul. Hank is one “Hunk” of a man, he is a true gentleman when it comes to Aspen and he is completely and totally smitten with her. She is his Angel! Their chemistry is off the charts and they light up the pages when they come together. The passion and chemistry between the two of them was intense and made for some very steamy scenes, they are scorching hot as a couple and the love they have for each other is intense.
I also loved the secondary characters in this book, they were well developed into the story line and I can’t wait to read more about them in the next book. I loved Apsen’s sister London and I especially fell in love with Oliver, he was one of my favorite characters aside from Aspen and Hank. Everyone needs an Oliver in their lives.
I would absolutely recommend this book, it had it all! I found myself being pulled into a fantastic story that took me on a roller coaster ride of intense and conflicting emotions. If you love sexy hot romance with a some action, humor and great sex, then this is a book you should definitely read. It was well written, the plot was well thought out and as a reader I kept turning the pages to see what happened next.
Von Audrey Carlan habe ich schon einige Bücher gelesen. Zwei Reihen haben mir wirklich gut gefallen und eine weitere habe ich nach dem ersten Buch abgebrochen. Daher war ich sehr gespannt wie mir der Auftakt zur "Finding us"-Reihe gefallen wird.
Aspen ist eine reiche und erfolgreiche Geschäftsfrau und wird von Hank vor einer tödlichen Gefahr gerettet und dieser verletzt sich dabei. Aspen fühlt sich verantwortlich und kümmert sich um die Versorgung von Hank. Dabei kommen sich die beiden dann näher.
Vom Ausgangssetting her fand ich die Geschichte ganz unterhaltsam, da hier die Frau aus der High Society kommt und der Mann eher der Normalo ist. Allerdings entwickelt sich zwischen den beiden alles viel zu schnell. Gefühlt ist Hank noch keine zwei Stunden aus dem OP, da befummeln sich die beiden schon in seinem Krankenbett.
Dies macht dann leider auch den Hauptteil der Geschichte aus und die beiden landen ständig in der Kiste. Der Rest der Geschichte ist leider sehr dünn und es passiert einfach nicht viel. Die Handlung hat sich für mich sehr gezogen und es gab keinerlei interessante Spannungsmomente.
Damit hat sich nun auch diese Reihe für mich erledigt und ich werde nun definitiv Abstand von den Büchern der Autorin nehmen.
**I was given a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
This is an erotic romance so the book is very spicy. I loved how it had a great storyline to go with all that spice. The characters are strong and well developed. It's a warm, emotional story. Would you risk your life for a complete stranger? Well, Hank did. It would be the beginning of a strong relationship between him and Aspen. They are worlds apart in social class but, absolutely perfect together. They bring out the best in each other and offer what neither of them knew they were searching for.
Hank comes from a warm and loving family, he is open and honest and never hides. Aspen is from a rich cold family, she tries to keep everyone at arm's length and only has a few people she trusts herself with.
Hank teaches Aspen that there is more to life than work, life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. We're meant to surround ourselves with happiness, warmth, and friends and family who SEE us and accept us and all our pieces.
I laughed, I cried, felt anger and outrage all while reading this book. Looking forward to reading more books by this author. Well done, Ms. Carlan!
The very first thing I need to say is that this book is HOT!!!!
The word chemistry gets thrown around a lot, but this couple brings a whole new meaning to the concept.
Opposites on all fronts, an act of fate literally throws then together, and the attraction is evident from the moment their eyes meet. Yes, I’m waxing poetic here, but that’s exactly what happens!
And their sexual interaction; OH MY LORD, it’s nothing short of a raging inferno that could melt the polar icecaps!
If you like the idea of City meets Country and all the drama that it entails, then you will definitely love this book.
But be prepared, because our hero can be caveman overbearing, has a jealous streak a mile wide, and is often a little to Country hick for my liking. However having said that, he is also passionate, devoted and would die for the woman he loves.
I thoroughly enjoyed this author’s first venture in the Erotic romance realm and look forward to her future books.
I loved so much about this book that I'm not sure where to start... Aspen Reynolds is a successful New York businesswoman. Hank Jensen is the handsome Texas cowboy who saves her life. The attraction is immediate, but being from two completely different worlds, could it really work?
This book is HOT. It is a heart melting, romantic, steamy love story - the total package. Aspen is strong, yet vulnerable. Hank knows what he wants and will do what it takes to get it (he had me swooning on more than once occasion *sigh*). This was a well written story that held my interest from beginning to end. I finished it in one day because I didn't want to put it down! I'm definitely looking forward to Audrey Carlan's next release!
Do you believe in love at first chapter? I didn't until I met Hank Jensen. I immediately fell in love with him at the beginning of the book. Angel Falling tells the classic story of two completely different people (a city girl and a country boy) who, by a chance of a random accident or fate, fall completely in love. I was engulfed in this story from beginning to end. Audrey Carlan did a fabulous job writing this book and I'm excited to see what more she has in store for this series. If you love a hot sexy cowboy then you must read this book.
Leute ich sag es echt ungern, aber ich hab leider meinen ersten Jahresflop. Ich quäle mich seit 5 Wochen mit dem Buch und mir ist das alles zuviel von allem. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ich schon länger keine richtigen Erotikromane gelesen habe, vielleicht an der teils sehr derben Sprache, den Wortwiederholungen und dass ich bis auf diese überaus allgegenwärtige sexuelle Anspannung nichts von den Protagonisten mitbekomme. Auf diesen 210 Seiten hatten Aspen und Hank mehr S*x als der Durchschnittsbürger. Bisher habe ich die Bücher von Audrey Carlan (Calendar Girl und Dream Maker, die hatten abseits der körperlichen Freuden noch eine Handlung ) sehr geliebt, daher tut es mir selbst ein wenig weh, dieses Buch abzubrechen, gerade weil es ein Rezensionsexemplar war. Gerade bei Rezensionsexemplaren überlege ich doppelt und dreifach, ob ich es abbrechen soll, wenn es mir nicht gefällt oder ich gebe den Büchern nochmal eine Chance. Das kann ich aus den obengenannten Gründen bei diesem Buch nicht.
Mein erstes Hörbuch habe ich erfolgreich beendet!🤩🙏 ich habe bisher alle Bücher von der Autorin gelesen und war sehr gespannt was mich in diesem Buch erwartet. Die Geschichte fand ich wirklich toll und auch die Charaktere mochte ich sehr. Jedoch stand mir das sexuelle zu sehr im Vordergrund. Meiner Meinung nach muss man nicht jede, absolut jede sexuelle Handlung ausführlich bis zum Ende beschreiben. Das hat der Geschichte oftmals das tiefgründige genommen - leider. Trotz allem eine tolle Geschichte mit einem schönen Ende ❤️
Angel Falling by Audrey Carlan
**** 5 Stars *****
Can two people from different worlds find a happily ever after?
ANGEL FALLING is the debut novel in the FALLING SERIES by Audrey Carlan. It is written in the dual POV (Point of View) format and centers around the two main characters who live in very different worlds and suddenly find their lives collide. Literally collide, that is, when a faulty piece of equipment gives way and has the construction owner rushing to save the life of the pretty young lady who is standing in harm's way.
..Aspen Reynolds (Pen) the high powered, take charge, workaholic who at the age of 28 is the CEO of her own multimillion dollar company and on Forbes Top Ten Most Successful Women list. Her ambitions to succeed has found her with a failed relationship, few close friends, and a strained relationship with her mother who wants her to be the perfect socialite no matter what the cost. She knows her life is missing something and doesn't realize what it is until Hank Jensen literally knocks her off her feet.
..Hank Jensen, a 34 year ranch and construction company owner from Texas who finds himself in NYC when his company's bid on a construction project is accepted. He is the equisential cowboy through and through and even though leaving Texas and his family is rough the money in New York is too good to pass up. So he finds himself in a different town, different place and starts fantasizing about this one beautiful blonde who arrives in a limo each and every day and walks through the doors of the building his crew is working on. He nicknames her Angel and before he knows it he finds himself literally saving her life when a freak accident sends pipes raining down on her.
Now the story beings: We have Hank saving Aspen on the construction site. Hank waking up, after surgery, to the beautiful blond (his Angle) at his side. In hopes of preventing a lawsuit (accident was on her building site) Aspen insists on taking Hank to her home to oversee his recovery and rehabilitation. She wants to ensure Hank has the best care possible as he did save her life. Now, of course, it doesn't hurt that he is one smoking hot "Stud" of a Texan who she dreams of being hers. And of course Hank has his own agenda and immediately lets Aspen (his Angle)know his interests and they sure in the heck aren't business related. Quickly and I do mean quickly these two consenting adults realize that their instant animal magnetism is shared by both and is unashamedly satiated on many, oh yes, many occasions.. There are struggles along the way as Mr. alpha male cowboy and Ms. female billionaire mogul both command dominance in and out of the bedroom. Hank with his southern caveman charm and Aspen with her rich socialite profile are both trying desperately to fit into each other’s worlds. Can they make it work? Will circumstances, from Hanks pasts, have them both questioning if they even have a future together or was it only lust? Can they make it work?
The author, Audrey Carlan, did an remarkable job of portraying all the characters right down to the southern drawl of Mr. Caveman/Stud Hank to the amazing development of Oliver's gay slang and Aspen's sisters perky optimistic persona. My favorite secondary characters has to be none other than Oliver though. He is Aspens gay personal assistant and her best friend. His undying devotion to Aspen is secondary to none and his witty banter had me laughing on so many occasions. The excellent mixture of hot sexy cowboy and rich modern city girl was a wonderful breath of fresh air to read. The dialogue with its hot jump off the pages steamy sex scenes, wonderful unexpected humor, overall depth of story line and Lots of Lots of smoldering sex had the story flowing so effortlessly that I found myself swept away into the pages of the book.
Please note - This novel is part one of a three part series but is written as a standalone. No cliffhangers here!
It is an erotic romance novel designed for audiences 18+ due to language and graphic sexual content.
....... With that said ...............READ it and ENJOY it - I did and you should too.
Great debut novel by Audrey Carlan. I look forward to reading the next chapter "London Falling".
I am thrilled to find a new author to follow! The book blurb states enough about the story without me summarizing again. I love it when the man is the one who decides the woman is ‘The One’ and goes all out to make the relationship progress. Hank and Aspen are from two very different backgrounds but they have an immediate attraction and chemistry. The story begins with Hanks’ injury while saving Aspen.
I love the nicknames -- Hank calls her ‘Angel’, her family and friends call her ‘Pen’, and she calls him ‘Stud’.
Hank is a hoot with his definite Alpha personality and possessiveness. The interactions between Hank and Aspen’s closest friend, Oliver, are hilarious. (Oliver is also called Ollie a lot by Aspen). I LOVED Oliver – he is gay and has a gorgeous partner, Dean. He takes care of Aspen pretty much 24/7 between clothes, hair, and is considered second-in-command in her business. He has a take-charge personality, and is also a nurturing and caring individual. I want him as MY friend!
This is a very erotic and sensual story and very romantic. Hank absolutely adores Aspen and it is so sweet how much he cares for her. Aspen worries about the differences between them – she is a billionaire, and a New York businesswoman. Hank is a southerner from Texas, speaks with a drawl, and while he has an expanding construction company, he is definitely not as wealthy as Aspen, nor did he come from a socially prominent family.
There are some misunderstandings between Hank and Aspen and my heart broke along with theirs. Add in various family members and friends, and the story captured my interest. I enjoyed it so much, that I am definitely happy to have the second book in the series, London Falling, ready to read next. I always enjoy epilogues and this one was very special.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves romance and you can’t help but want to be a part of the lives of the characters.
I'm constantly looking for new authors and recently had this author recommended and although I'm not usually a huge fan of contemporary novels thought I would give it a go and can I say I'm so pleased that I did. It may sound unusual to have a cowboy in New York wooing a high profile buisness woman but the author not only pulls it off but makes it sexy and fun!
City girl meets cowboy has been done before but this time the action takes place in an urban landscape and trust me when I say action I'm not talking about fights and guns. No, the action here is between two very different people who in many ways are totally opposite and yet the heat between them is combustible! Aspen has clawed her way to the very pinnacle when it comes to work but when it comes to love she has not been so lucky. When a freak accident sees a gorgeous hunk of a man saving her life she can't help but want to repay him but all he asks for is to date her!
Hank is a successful contractor but has spent the last few weeks watching a woman who looks like an angel. When he tries to save her from certain death its instinctive but waking up to find her at his bedside gives him all sorts of ideas. Hank is a man used to getting what he wants and right now all he can think about is the sexy Aspen. When a chance to get closer to her comes his way Hank grabs it with both hands and pretty soon he's determined to grab hold of his angel as well and never let go!
This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and flowed very well. Lots of intimate sexy scenes that nearly melted my kindle but the intense connection between the two central characters never made it feel gratuitous. Interesting and dare I say funny supporting characters just added to my enjoyment and if you love a cowboy then this Texan is for you!
Aspen Reynolds is a take charge kind of woman. To be the CEO of your own company at age 28 you can’t be anything but. A workaholic to the core, Aspen barely realizes there is a world around her until Hank Jensen literally knocks into her trying to save her life.
Hank Jensen, a true Texas cowboy, finds himself in NYC on a job with his construction company when he first notices Aspen. Not knowing who she is, he has taken to calling her Angel when the tables turn and he has to become the angel in order to save her from a deathly accident.
Two different people from two very different worlds collide together and find themselves falling. Some say falling quite literally, some say falling in lust, some say falling in friendship, but what we all want to know is can they fall in love?
I found so much to love in this debut from Audrey Carlan. A socialite who is fighting to be who she wants to be and a good ole’ country boy who knows who he is but can’t seem to figure out how to get what he wants: her. I was cheering for Audrey to win Hank and I just wanted Hank to come to me, haha! The characters are well developed and interesting, the story both loveable and exciting, and the hotness factor…well let’s just say the Texas cowboy can steam up a room! You have to pick this one up!
Warning....prepare to snort, cry, sigh, and most off all, prepare to change your panties while reading certain parts. Angel Falling, is such a well written story that is humorous yet completely sexy. I don't believe I've ever had so much fun while reading a story, as I did with this one. Audrey Carlan definitely knows how to please her readers and I can't wait to jump into book 2 of this series.
Angel Falling revolves around Aspen and Hank. Now these two people, are night and day different, but that whole opposites attract adage, applies here. Hank is a good ole' southern boy from Texas and Aspen, is a beyond wealthy, New York socialite, who owns the building Hank's team is working on. Something happens and their worlds come together. Their attraction is undeniable and in no time, she's his angel, and he's her stud.
This book was a complete joy to read and I would recommend Angel Falling, to everyone who adores reading a hot love stories.
I about died laughing when Aspen was thinking "My inner bitch was hooting and hollering in the background, lifting a trophy above her head proudly". The whole scene was completely awesome and there are more parts like this that will leave you smiling. There wasn't a part of this story that I did not love, although If I was Aspen, I would have dropped that country bumpkin on her ass for trying to kiss Hank, but that's me and not Aspen. This is a must have book and I encourage all readers to check it out.
Fell in love with this love story. Audrey Carlan is one amazing author.
Aspen who is a very rich and successful woman that has everything money can buy. She owns her own company in New York City, has nice condo, a maid, personal chief, and wears the best clothes money can buy. But this does not fell the emptiness that she carries around with her. She does not know how to truly live or know what true love is.
Hank is this amazing sexy Texas cowboy who can not take his eyes off of Aspen, even though he knows they are from 2 different worlds and it could not possibly workout. Hank one day seeing Aspen's life in danger does not think twice about jumping into save her. What an amazing act. I have to say I truly loved Hank, his rough edges and all. Even found Hank's mom very entertaining..LOL
Both realizing there was an emptiness inside them and never feeling so complete as they do when they are with each other. Problem is no matter how hard he tries he just does not appear to fit in her world. Can they get pass their differences to be together? Can Aspen leave the business she has worked so hard to build? Will Hank be able to just leave the county life in Texas and be a city man for the woman he loves? Can they get passed all the obstacles in their relationship to be together? All great questions and if you want the answers, well read the book. I promise you will not be disappointed.
***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Note: I had a really hard time choosing between three and four stars for this review. I chose four stars because though I had a few issues with the content (see the review for details), it was, objectively, a very good book.
So let's talk about romances. We (and while I'm speaking primarily about women, men do read romances too) read romances to escape. We want to be swept away, carried on the waves of the most perfect love imaginable. We want our characters to be ravaged by love and imperfect and beautiful and dynamic and sometimes over the top.
Angel Falling has all of that. Which is why...it left me wanting more.
Don't get me wrong. This is a good book. It's well written and the two main characters are definitely dynamic, imperfect, and beautiful. There were some very good things about this book.
We get into the action right away. In the first ten pages we see Hank (the Cowboy) saving Aspen (the business woman) from falling pipes. He's badly injured and she basically takes over his life taking care of his recovery. She's worried he's going to sue and when she asks him what he wants, he says two dates. She then decides to move him into her penthouse for the eight weeks of his recovery and jump him every second.
The story grabbed me. I loved the sparks between Aspen (Hank calls her Angel) and Hank. But honestly, the book had too much sex for me. They were jumping each other every page or two. I'd rather have seen a bit more of their talking, getting to know each other, rather than just have that action summarized and the sex detailed.
If there's a love story, there's always an obstacle to get over. In this case, it was their insane differences. Hank had never seen two men kiss and Aspen's best friend is gay. Aspen was sometimes way too concerned with her position in society and how Hank would "work out" in her society functions and Hank was a little too hick for his position as the owner of a successful construction company.
That said, the story itself was satisfying, the sex (though it was too much) was well done, and I loved the ending. I just prefer a little more relationship in my romance novels.
Loved Hank The Hottie
The plot went like this:
Aspen owned a huge company was very wealthy and Hank was a construction worker where Aspen worked, Hank's best part of the day was when Aspen arrived he would wait for her to pull up to the curb and watch her sexy ass get out with her curvy figure he always admired her from a distance until a piece of scaffold came loose and he saved her life.
So this is how they met. Aspen let hank stay at her place while he recovered from an operation.
Obviously feelings started to develop but Hank already had those and this dirty mouthed, sweet talking cowboy couldn't wait to get into Aspens knickers and he literally wasted no time.
I loved all the character's especially Aspen's gay best friend Oliver, where he would stomp off if he didn't get his way.
It was a fun, hot and sexy read with a little bit of angst thrown in, a good plot with a romantic element that I enjoyed.
