Dickmatized!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳🤬😮🤨🥰

The heroine: Eleanor - a hair stylist who is awkward with men and hasn’t had a boyfriend in a while. Two of the women in her group of friends are getting married and one of her other friends signs her up on an app called “Rate a Date”.

The Hero: Mitch - An NFL Football star who used to be a player in every sense of the word. He has since gotten tired of the carousel of women who want him only because of who he is. He tries out a new app where he can meet a woman who doesn’t know who he is and could possibly find someone who likes him for himself.

The Story: Eleanor and Mitch meet on “Rate a Date”. They get along well from the start though Mitch lies about what he does for a living because he wants to know if Eleanor likes him or his fame. He is moving to Las Vegas because his team is moving and when Eleanor finds she will be going to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party, they plan to get together.

This was told in dual points of view by two narrators, Emma Wilder and Patrick Zeller. I think this was the first time I have heard these narrators and I really enjoyed both of them. Especially Patrick Zeller, who has a deep gravely voice that was perfect for Mitch. I loved his dirty talk! Emma Wilder has a pleasing voice that is soft and worked well for Eleanor.

The story was cute and of course everything comes to a head when Eleanor finds out that Mitch isn’t who he said he was. I liked the resolution and the two main characters had a ton of chemistry.

Rate a Date was a sweet and steamy dating app romance. Eleanore is a romantic at heart, but is having a difficult time finding actual romance in life. Most of her friends are in love, even the cynical ones, so she’s almost ready to give up. Until a friend convinces her to try the Rate a Date app. Hello modern dating. Goodbye loneliness? Eleanore gets a message from one Mand.96, Mitch, and they connect easily. But can you make an online relationship work? Lucky them they get to meet in Vegas when El visits to celebrate her friends bachelorette weekend! Sparks fly, Eleanore and Mitch get their freak on, but someone in this relationship isn’t laying all their cards on the table.

I loved this book because it was just an easy read. There is some angst, but it’s simple and resolved relatively easily. It’s fun, it’s sweet, and it was quick enough to read. I think Rate a Date is the perfect option if you’re looking for an easy summer romance read.

It was slow in the beginning and it took me a while to get into the story, but after the 20% mark it started to get interesting and entertaining. And that's it what it was in general - a light and entertaining read with two MC's that were fun to read about. The depth of their feelings didn’t match their time together though, it felt all surface level, and instead of actual romance development we see a lot of sex scenes here.

2.5 stars. I feel like I struggled with this one, which surprised me! I've read several other books by Monica Murphy, including all of the others in this series, and generally enjoy them, but this one just didn't work as well for me.

Part of the problem is that there were a few editing things that could have been better. For example saying "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" or things like "what is this all" instead of "what is all this" (the second one isn't from the book, but it was a similar sentence worded the same way). Whenever I'd come across those moments, it took me out of the story.

Setting grammar aside, I had a few problems with the story itself. First is that I felt no real connection to our couple. I kept being TOLD how much they connected on all levels, but all we saw as the reader were sexual encounters between them. I'm all for smut in my books, but if you want me to believe that the characters are in love, I need more than that!

Then there was the fact that I felt like Eleanor was being a really awful friend. She was

Last, I felt like the conflict between the couple at the end was so stupid. You really can't understand why

Overall, this clearly wasn't my favorite book in the series, but given that I've liked all of the others, it wont prevent me from reading the next one!

Funny Story: I have quite a few book on my kindle written by Monica Murphy but the last time I actually read and reviewed one was 2015 so when Rate a Date came up for review I was “oooooo, that sounds cute! I’m gonna sign-up for the ARC” but then I saw it was 5th in a series and my OCD wouldn’t allow that. But then the cover happened and everything went out the window because that is how you cover win!! And then I checked out the series more closely and daaaaaayum, have you guys seen the covers to this entire series?! And that’s the story of how I binge-read the Dating Series. (I should note that my panting and hyperventilation is of course over the ebook covers)

Okay so let’s chat for a minute about Rate a Date specifically. I mean that’s why you guys are reading this, amirite? Lol Some words that spring to mind when I think back on the story are: sexy, sweet, fun, funny, touching, easy to read and captivating. I honestly loved almost everything about the story. I will admit I was not a fan of the choices the author made when it came to the conflict in the story. For me, it brought down the maturity level of the story and it just didn’t ring very realistic to me. I’m not going into details or even putting details under a spoiler umbrella because you guys will probably read the spoiler and ruin the story for yourselves before you get a chance to even read it. Which you should, totally! I insist everyone read this story! Okay, I’m done :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Rate A Date by Monica Murphy. I devoured the story in no time. A hot, sweet, funny, romantic, love story that ticked every box for me. Extremely well written story that took me on a fabulous journey that left me with a smile on my face.

I really enjoyed Eleanor and Mitch’s story. I found the two of them easy to relate to and together they made an awesome couple. They were such a dynamic duo and they entertained and engaged from the beginning.

Rate The Date by Monica Murphy is a fun, heartfelt and sexy romance read. It is part of the Dating Series and I was able to jump right in there as if I knew these characters. I enjoyed this group of friends and want to get to know more about all of them. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but I have to say Monica Murphy has made me a fan, and I can’t wait to get to know the couples in the other books. I loved Eleanor and Mitch’s story. It was the perfect mix of fun, flirty, sexy and sweet.

Romance stories involving sports or a player is my kind of story. I don't know why but when I read a blurb that contains this two I start really desiring it. So that was what made me be interested in reading this book in the first place. I didn't know the author - it's my first read of Monica Murphy - and now I'm asking myself why I never read her before? She has a captivating writing style! I loved this book! It was just what I expected and wanted.

Eleanor is a hopeless romantic. She really believes in true love and she's not happy the majority of her good friends are already in love and she isn't. And when one of her friends creates a profile at a dating app she want to run the other way, but she gets convinced that she should at least try. She meets Mitch and they clicked. Mitch is a famous football player. He is tired of the one night stands and the girls that only want him because he is a player, and want to find something steady. He decides to register in this app and not tell the woman he meets who he really is.

Eleanor and Mitch were just perfect together. I loved their conversation, the flirt, the way they were together and the instant fire between them when they finally meet in person. They are characters easy to fall in love.

Although it can be read as a standalone, RATE A DATE is part of a series. This is the 5th book and now I want to know more about the characters I met here. So of course I'm gonna read the rest of the series.

This was fun, has light drama, romantic, hot and made me in love. This is the kind of story I crave and I'm really happy I read this book. I highly recommend it.

Eleanor e Mitch eram perfeitos juntos.

2.5 🌟 PLEASE read whole review!!! I cannot make this shit up!! 😳😂

So here I am, again, with another Las Vegas book, after I said I wouldn't read them. 😭

In all honesty, I preordered this a while ago, and totally forgot about it until it popped up on my Kindle. 🤷

Now, I had some serious issues with this book, outside of it taking place in Vegas 😬. Though the writing style was ok (not terrible), and I MAY read this author again for a chance at redemption.

1. At the beginning it states that Eleanor lives in her mom's old house which is paid off. Yet at the end she is "moving out of her apartment"?????? 🤷

2. Stated that it is a FIVE hour flight from Vegas to Monterey....uhhhmmm. No. It is not. It's about a 45 minute flight from Vegas to San Jose and then about the same drive time from there to Monterey.... 🤷🤷🤷

3. Spelling and grammatical errors. Though not enough to really set me off, it could use some editing.

💣 My MAJOR issue though... I never got the feeling they were meant to be together, or loved each other. Everything was always SEX, SEX, SEX!! Anytime Eleanor tried to talk to Mitch, he would "get distracted by her tits" and then they would have sex. I love me steamy raunchy books, but this was just ugh. They NEVER really had a serious conversation, even his grovel was laced with an attempt to leave to have sex or sneak out to have a quickie.

Also the Epilogue was lame. I said what I said. 😝🤷

💣 💣 💣THEN!!! There is this golden quote from Eleanor (you know after he lied to her because he was worried about her being a gold digging hoe) :

"I remember thinking I would never know what it’s like, to not have to worry about money, and now I’m living the dream!"

Although, honestly, I should have stopped reading at 12% when Eleanor stated:

"Who wants to actually work and live in Las Vegas?"

Wow, bitch, wow! Me that's who. And guess what? I am not a hoe, a stripper, or a casino worker. I'm a TEACHER. Normal people live in Vegas too yo!! THIS IS WHY I DON'T READ VEGAS BOOKS, AHHHHHHH!!!!!! The cover was a nice treat though, I won't lie.

I REST MY CASE YOUR HONOR!!!!

I really love this story and the series. The friendship between the women is wonderful and has grown with the books. Eleanor is not looking for a relationship when her friend decides to set her up with a profile on a dating app. Not expecting any success, she is surprised when she gets a message from a guy that piques her interest. Mitch is tired of the women that he attracts as a professional athlete. Eleanor is a breath of fresh air, but she also does not know who he really is. As everything unfolds, they grow closer together and their relationship is that much stronger. I loved the electric chemistry between these two. Their relationship was everything that I could have hoped for going in to this story. I am going to say that they are my favorite couple of the series so far. They were so fantastic together. Loved everything about this book!

~ 5 Stars ~

Rate A Date was a thoroughly enjoyable story. I devoured the story and really liked both Mitch and Eleanor.

This is the third book of this series I have read and I have to say I think this is my favorite so far. This was a perfect beach read. Yes it is fairly predictable but that didn’t take away from its enjoyable factor for me. I think this is the steamiest of the books I have read in this series so far.

Rate A Date is the 5th book if Monica Murphy’s Dating Series, but can be read as a standalone novel and in any order. I didn’t fell like I was missing out on anything by reading this book out of order. Just means I have to go back and read the ones I missed. There are interconnected characters in this story but Monica does a great job letting you know who every one is. I thought the flow and pace of this story was great. It is told in Dual POV.

This book is about Eleanor and Mitch. Eleanor is one of the last of her girlfriends to find her HEA, So when her friend Kelsey signs her up on a dating app, she is hesitant, not thinking that is the way to find true love (she’s a hopeless romantic). Then there is Mitch who is a player in the NFL and is realizing he isn’t happy with his dating life. He wants to settle down, but finding a woman who likes him for him and not his money is tough, so he signs up on the same dating app. Eleanor and Mitch hit off and are both really attracted to each other…..there is only one problem….Mitch is moving to Las Vegas and he is keeping a secret from Eleanor. What happens when that secret comes out?? Can they get their HEA?? Read this enjoyable story to find out.

I really enjoyed seeing some of the past secondary characters in this story. I loved catching up with Caroline and Alex (from Save the Date) and seeing all the other girls who are living their HEA. I look forward to Kelsey’s story which is coming up next.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a Monica Murphy fan. If you are looking for that steamy and enjoyable beach read to escape into for a couple hours , this is the one to read. It is well worth it!!!

Rate a Date is the fifth book in the Dating series by Monica Murphy. Each book is a stand-alone and they can be read out of order. I gotta say that I am still waiting for Amelia's book and I wonder if we will ever get it. I need her to get her happy ending soon!

This could have been my favorite book in the series if it wasn't for one little thing. The timeline. Half of the book happens during the weekend Eleanor is in Vegas. I am not the kind of person who minds when the characters are saying their "I love yous" within two weeks, but in this case, it felt a little rushed, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. The one thing that bugged me was how long it took for Mitch to tell Eleanor the truth, but when I thought about it, not much time had passed from the moment they met until his secret was revealed, so the fault, in the end, was on the timeline.

I liked the rest of the book. Mitch and Eleanor were hot together and even in the short time they were together, they simply clicked for me and I liked their moments together. The story had the potential to be a very good book and unfortunately, that didn't happen for me. Still, it's one of the good books in the series and I would recommend it.

I thought I liked Monica Murphy, which is why I picked this one up, but either this one was subpar, or I'm not remembering correctly because this one was not anything to shake a stick at. There was nothing to it. It was mostly trash and you never get a reason why they are so perfect for each other or what makes them special. It was pretty much a let down from the start and I should have let it go instead of sticking it out and seeing it through, although I'm sure it will appeal to some audiences, just not me.

I was so excited for a meeting in Vegas book, they are like crack to me and when Monica said she was doing one, I knew I had to read it.

Mitch is a football player and his team just got transferred to Vegas. He is tired of the random hookups and women fawning all over him and he wants to settle down with someone that isn’t with him for his money or fame.

All of Eleanor’s friends are settling down and when she is in Vegas for a bachelorette party she arranged to meet Mitch, the man she met and connected with on the dating site, Rate a Date. Thing thing is, she doesn’t know who he is.

Their connection is instant, and this book is pretty hot, it’s way hotter than the rest of the series. It’s progressively getting more steamy, so if you are used to more steam, this book has it in spades. I love Monica, I love Mitch and Eleanor, and I love this series!

OMG I CANNOT WAIT TO READ THISSSS!

Is it July yet?!

Eleanor Murray is tired.

Tired of going on awkward dates. Tired of meeting men who just aren’t that into her. Tired of being set up on blind dates by her well-meaning friends.

She is a believer of true love, of finding that happily ever after, and she wants it. She deserves it. But at the rate she’s going, she’s pretty sure it’s never going to happen.

Until a friend creates a profile for Eleanor on a new dating app. At first, she’s reluctant. Dating apps aren’t the way to finding true love, are they? But then she makes a connection on Rate a Date, and this gorgeous, confident guy almost seems too good to be true…

Mitch Anderson has a secret.

He’s just moved to Las Vegas for his high profile job and after years of playing the field, he’s looking for a serious relationship. He wants to find a woman who likes him for who he is, not what he does. Meeting Eleanor on the dating app, he’s intrigued. Meeting her in real life while she’s in town for a bachelorette weekend, he completely falls for her. Now he’s in way over his head.

Their chemistry is combustible. They can’t keep their hands off each other. But will Eleanor forgive him when she finds out who he really is?

Not the most original plot but well written. I love Monterey and I've been to Las Vegas so Monica Murphy hits a run with her cities. You feel you're there with her friends or that awful double date. (Opps).

The sex scenes were pretty sexy. The first intimacy had me biting nails on them getting caught. Seemed way out of her character but maybe that was too much drink and her admitted awkwardness. It was still hot.

There was not much getting to know one another in the end (this is my star off) but HEA.

Well that's one STEAMY rom com! Fast-paced and oh so sexy, this opposites attract romance is full of heat. It's light and easy to read in one sitting, pairing a pro football player who is tired of playing games with a good girl in need of a little spice in her life. While it started off strong, the romance ultimately left me unsatisfied. My main complaint? They barely know anything about each other because they spend all of their time in bed. And everything our heroine does know is a lie. That makes this a steamy read but not a fulfilling romance.

The story follows Mitch, an athlete who has been an unapologetic player both on and off the field since college. But constant partying and casual hookups have lost their appeal after so many years, and he's ready to start something real. Knowing that every woman who is aware of his star status is likely to have an agenda, Mitch uses a dating app to meet someone new while concealing his true identity. Eleanor has always been more of an old-fashioned girl, seeking out love and marriage but never finding it. When she meets Mitch online, there's a connection there, so when they get together for a weekend in Vegas, it's not long before that turns into more and Eleanor is acting like an entirely new woman.

I do like the author's writing style and think the storyline had all kinds of potential, but it sort of fizzled out for me. There's just such a lack of an emotional connection. Mitch's deception doesn't paint him in the best light, and without any deep conversations or obvious connection in any way that's not physical, this felt very surface level. Why WOULDN'T the unabashed playboy choose a buxom blonde who is willing to get down and dirty anytime and anywhere as the girl he wants to keep around for longer than a few days? That's where this one falls short for me; the start had me interested but it was just scene after scene of steam after that. Certainly not bad but not all that fulfilling either. If you're looking for a steamy, light read then this is definitely that, but it had the potential to be more. I received an ARC via Valentine PR and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sexy romance.

This is Eleanor's story!

This whole series should be made into a Hallmark movie!

Finding love isn't really as easy as it looks especially in this day and age... this is what brought Eleanor and Mitch together. In their quest for finding love, they found each other through a dating app... I wish it were that easy to do im real life, lol

Mitch is so... *sigh*

It's an easy and light read... an equal mix of sweet, funny and sexy!

I'm pretty sure Mitch had grown up to be a Niners fan just like Eleanor (and me) lol.

Go Niners!haha

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Rate a Date by Monica Murphy is book 5 of her Dating series. I had not read the other books and thoroughly enjoyed this funny and hot read. I will be going to get the other books in this series quickly.

Eleanor is over the dating scene but her friend signs her up for a dating app and they decide to have some fun with it. Mitch is trying to find someone to like him for himself and not his celebrity. The banter between these two is hilarious and HOT!!

I love that Eleanor's friends (from the previous books) aren't angry when she decides to have her fun. I was worried that was going to take a turn.

Like I said, I can't wait to read the rest of these books.

What a wonderful read!

I really need to pick up the entire series. This was a fun and quick read about modern dating through a dating app. The writing was fresh and timely and well written as I would expect from Monica Murphy novels.

Though this book is a part of a series, I really enjoyed this book as a stand alone.

Cannot wait to read more of this series.

Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been that it’s the first time I’ve read Monica’s books! I love reading Rate a Date, it’s sweet, romantic, amazing friendships, pretty up to date with the dating app stuff and it’s super fun! After reading this I can’t wait to read the next ones, specially the previous ones because this group of friends are awesome! I loved to get to know each one better and it was kind of amazing how I could feel each different personality.

I adored Eleanor! Mostly because I could see myself in her so many times. From her always honest policy, sometimes being awkward, curvy girl, we have the same thoughts about dating app - like, hell no! - and we are both looking forward to a guy who can commit! She is my person. So after seeing all her friends getting attached, she finally lets go and go to a dating app so she can try to find her soulmate.

Mitch... oh Mitch. So he is a famous football player for the Raiders and is moving to Las Vegas to play. Other thing is changing: he wants a serious relationship, but a woman who likes him for who he is and not the football player. So he goes to the same dating app so he can hide his high profile self.

That’s how both of them meet, him lying about what he does and she trying to find her true love. After some talking and an instant connection, they finally have the opportunity to meet in person when she goes to Las Vegas for her BFF bachelorette party. And I can say truly, I love everything about the Las Vegas scenes! All friends together, steamy Mitch and Eleanor, drunk people and of course the city! I love it all!

As their chemistry and connection crazily increases, will Mitch’s lies damage their relationship? I’ll be honest, I thought there would be more drama, but I guess Eleanor is more mature than me.

I absolutely love their HEA I just wish the book didn’t end. But now I’ve got to wait for Kelsey and Theo, our very own Ross from Friends. I’m so excited for this book.
Rate a Date is a fun and loving book that you should definitely read!

Eleanor Murray is fed up with dates going wrong and she just wants her friends to stop setting her up with guys that do nothing for her so she finally decides it’s time to hit the dating apps.....
Mitch Anderson is the man the app decides is meant for her but will Eleanor give him a chance and will the secret Mitch is hiding destroy this relationship before it even begins.....
I really enjoyed this entertaining, steamy romanc, the characters are adorable and they share lots of witty banter and plenty of sizzling chemistry, it’s a book I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

RATE A DATE is the fifth instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, adult DATING erotic, romance series. This is hair stylist Eleanor Murray, and professional football player Mitch Anderson’s story line. RATE A DATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mitch and Eleanor) RATE A DATE follows the building relationship between hair stylist Eleanor Murray, and professional football player Mitch Anderson. Mitch and Eleanor are tired of the dating scene. Eleanor Murray soon discovers that her best friend has signed her up on the Rate a Date dating app, and her first ‘date’ doesn’t go too well. Meanwhile, professional football player Mitchell Anderson, bored with the one-night stands, and the stream of women only looking for fame and money, finds himself ‘talking and texting’ to Eleanor Murray, a woman who is quickly stirring something within our story line hero. A bachelorette weekend in Vegas for Caroline Abbott (Save the Date #1) finds Eleanor meeting the man who is currently starring in all of her fantasies and dreams but a man whom she will discover is keeping secret his true identity. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Eleanor and Mitch, and the potential fall-out as Mitch’s professional life is about to be exposed.

Mitchell Anderson wants to fall in love. He wants a woman to call his own, and meeting Eleanor Murray gives Mitchell a hope for the future but a future that is currently predicated upon a lie. Mitchell knows he has to come clean but our hero struggles with revealing the truth to a woman who only knows that the man with whom she is falling in love, is an ordinary man. Eleanor Murray is lonely. One of the two remaining single women in her group of friends, Eleanor battles between head and heart when her friend sets up a dating profile in an effort to find Eleanor someone to love.

The relationship between Mitch and Eleanor begins as a meet and greet in Vegas having spent days and nights texting and talking. Now that Mitch and his team have moved to Vegas, our hero spends with weekend getting know the woman with whom he will fall in love but a lie of omission threatens their potential happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters-most of the women we have me in the previous instalments.

RATE A DATE is a story of secrets and lies; friendships and love. The premise is heart warming, uplifting and fun; the romance is sexy and seductive; the characters are animated and sassy.

I loved this!

I can't stop listening to Emma Wilder (send help) so I found this little gem on Audible Plus and decided to give it a go. I love me some athlete MMCs!

If you don't have an Audible subscription or you don't like audiobooks, it's also currently available on Kindle Unlimited, so make sure to add this to your TBR.

We have Eleanor, a perky hairstylist with an army of girlfriends who are in relationships, who is seeking a serious relationship herself.

We also have Mitch, a pro football player who has until this point only had casual relationships but has found himself wanting more.

These characters decide to join a dating app and cross their fingers. Mitch, however, sick of being used for his fame, keeps that little tidbit to himself and lies about his job. What could go wrong?

Because women love being lied to. Mitch, you fool. 😂

These characters had great chemistry and the spicy content was super hot! Readers, this is a man who loves to eat iykwim.

There is third act drama but for those of you who fret about it (me) it's not super drawn out or overdone. It's the perfect amount of hurt and drama and the resolution is satisfying. Plus, y'know, makeup sex and grovelling.

This audiobook was performed in dual, which means both narrators performed all the voices in their POV chapter regardless of gender. Emma Wilder continues to smolder with her male voice (and I'm pretty sure it's sorcery) and express tons of emotion in her performance. This was my first time hearing Patrick Zeller and he was soothing to listen to. Very articulate and a pleasant deep rumble. I'll make sure to check out some of his other work.

What you get:

Pro football player celebrity MMC x regular everyday FMC
Hidden identity
Trusting a dating app
A blind date that turns into financial advice
Flirty phone calls
A girl posse 💅
Vegas and a bachelorette party that turns steamy 🔥
Sneaking around 🥸
A hunky book boyfriend that loves to eat

Watch out for:

Third act breakup
MMC misrepresenting himself to FMC (but with good intentions)
On page alcohol consumption
