In Miles From Nowhere, our hero takes a 3000-mile trek across 60's America to see his idol, Jimi Hendrix, at Woodstock. His poor health and America do nothing but get in the way. In Calif., Miles is back, alive and kicking, but it sure wasn't easy. Here is the rest of Miles' story. Calif. is the standalone sequel to 2019's Miles From Nowhere. In 1970, Miles is back in California making a go of it, working at a rock club on the coast. While his health is still touch and go, the ramifications of a kidney transplant, Miles, like all of us, struggles with life, death, love, giants, rock stars, tigers, a wife, a daughter. and the double yellow line. Calif. is what happens when the coming of age tale ends, when the California realities set in and the fantasy that was Woodstock is only a memory.R.J. 3 books3 followersBefore I was born, my parents flip-flopped across the country, and finally, when I was 8 weeks old, they settled in the San Fernando Valley. The story of my life can best be found, lots of details, in my (fictitious) memoir, Jay and the Americans, which is mostly true - like a resume; some stretchers, as Mark Twain would say. Jay is available on Amazon.
My mother was a backup singer for the likes of Burt Bacharach and Ray Conniff. My father painted rock 'n' roll billboards on the Sunset Strip. Despite the broken home - whose wasn't? - I grew up pretty okay.
I have lived in L.A., New York and Paris, and I currently live just outside Philadelphia.
I write a rock 'n' roll history/review blog called AM at https://10-am.blogspot.com/ that gets more than 3000 hits per day.
I'm currently working on a series of novels; the first of which is called Miles From Nowhere. It will be followed by Calif. (with the .) and then Old Hippies. If nothing else, critics will say, "He had some great titles (three others: Shakespeare & Co., blur, and Lady Jane).
