Before I was born, my parents flip-flopped across the country, and finally, when I was 8 weeks old, they settled in the San Fernando Valley. The story of my life can best be found, lots of details, in my (fictitious) memoir, Jay and the Americans, which is mostly true - like a resume; some stretchers, as Mark Twain would say. My mother was a backup singer for the likes of Burt Bacharach and Ray Conniff. My father painted rock 'n' roll billboards on the Sunset Strip. Despite the broken home - whose wasn't? - I grew up pretty okay.
I have lived in L.A., New York and Paris, and I currently live just outside Philadelphia.

I'm currently working on a series of novels; the first of which is called Miles From Nowhere. It will be followed by Calif. (with the .) and then Old Hippies. If nothing else, critics will say, "He had some great titles (three others: Shakespeare & Co., blur, and Lady Jane).
