Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

Just because I want to do something different I'm going to write the reviews in a Friends episode format. Enjoy!

The One With Ella's Ambition to Kill Gaia

Ella Niven is furious. Gaia Moore has been irritating her since the beginning. Sure, she slept with Sam, the guy Gaia is in love with, and that was deliciously pleasurable. But that hasn't stop Gaia of ruining her life. And the worst part is that Loki is planning on getting Gaia for himself and finally leaving Ella behind. Well, fuck him. He wants a war . . . he'll get one. And she will start with killing Gaia once and for all. Will she succeed?

Wow. This one left me speechless. So much twists, and heart-pounding moments. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, and that for me, is a good sign. By the way,

Heather and Ed are starting to piss me off. Seriously, grow the fuck off!! And Sam finally grows some balls and Finally!!

5/5 stars.

Summary: Heather and Ed spend some more time together, Pearl is ordered by Loki to kill off Ella, Tom spends the book recovering in a hospital, Gaia learns about Loki from Ella but isn't sure who he is exactly yet, Ella sacrifices herself for Gaia when faced with a paid assassin Ella hired earlier, and Sam and Gaia finally get together.

I assumed Killer was going to be just as bland and monotone as the last, but I was actually moved by Ella's heel-face turn and sacrifice (even though I still think Gaia deserved to be killed instead.) Also Killer had one legitimate joke that worked, so it deserves TWO stars instead of one. Why Two stars and not more? Because I still loathe everything else about Fearless.

1) Again this book goes on about how little friends Gaia has and how bad at "collecting" them she is. It claims Gaia only has Ed as her friend but do Zolov, Mr. Haq, and Remy not count?

2) The part where Gaia chases after two kids for robbing money from a blind man for Pokemon cards was a clever joke and one of the few times Fearless was funny. It's a shame there hasn't been any other moments of humor like this earlier.

3) I really liked it when Ella became much nicer to Gaia and when she begged the assassin to kill her instead of Gaia. It would have moved me to tears, but it's still a shame to see Ella end her life for such a brat Mary Sue like Gayuh. If Ella lived, she would have been a great supporting character.

4) As said in the summary, Sam and Gaia get together but at the same time I could care less if they didn't.

I can't wait to see if book 13 is as BAD as it seems...

Can't say I didn't see Ella's death coming. I'm not sure I totally buy her remorse, but it gave us some nice scenes with her and Gaia. That said, there's no way the assassin Ella hired would have been fooled by Ella claiming to be Gaia... after all, she gave them Gaia's picture. But they never did show us what happened after Ella barged in on Mr. Xi, so maybe they were pissed enough to say "screw it" and kill Ella instead?

George must be legit the dumbest person ever if he didn't notice any of this happening.

Also, finally, praise Jesus, Gaia and Sam stopped running around each other like two headless and very stupid chickens. Although I've read some of these books before and I feel like he dies at one point? So I can't imagine this lasting long.

One of the best books in the series! Even when Ella was evil, she was entertaining.
It was great to see her and Gaia finally getting along, I wish she hadn't been killed at the end of this book though, her relationship with Gaia was just getting interesting.
I'm glad Sam finally plucked up the courage to tell Gaia how he felt too, it was on the verge of being dragged out.

So Gaia saves Ella's life and magically she isn't a horrible person anymore??!!?? I don't understand how they jump from such deep emotions to the complete other side of the spectrum with one small piece of WRONG info. So annoying.

Had an almost interesting fight. Okay, it was interesting. The fight between Guy-uh and Pearl was okay. The fight between Guy-uh and the assassin, hired from a Charlie Chan film, was better. And wonder of wonder, Guy-uh loses! I thought she was the reigning heavyweight champion of the world. After all, she supposedly has bulging, gigantic, swole, bulked etc. muscles. A later book in this interminable series, and series of series, reveals that the mighty Guy-uh is five foot ten. Well, okay. Mike Tyson is five ten. And he WAS heavyweight champ of the world. But Guy-uh weighs in at one hundred and twenty-five pounds. So, whence cometh these big muscles? She's a beanpole.

Holy smokes what went down in this was so crazy. I have despised Ella since book one Gaia has hated her and the last book she tried kill Gaia in brood daylight, but what happened in this was a 180 or 360 because they saved each other's life. They for a short time became allies until something happens.

Gaia has the wrong information because she misunderstood who Loki is. She assumed he was her dad but it's wrong. And now Ella's gone and can't correct that thinking.

This was crazy and good and actually sad all rolled into one. Now I don't know what will happen. I just hope doesn't take 10 or 12 books for Gaia to realize her Uncle Oliver is Lok and is evil.

What I love about these books is that after something happens I feel it in my chest. The excitement, the exhaustion, the sadness, and devotion. I feel what she feels and I love every line of it. I keep coming back for more

This is so incredibly dated and does not have strong writing or strong plot. But, you know what? I read these as a teen and there is a delightful amount of nostalgia that goes with these. The definition of guilty pleasure

The book is suspenseful. Satisfying, yet leaving you in a place where you must continue.

I've read this series over ten years ago. But I remember it being very good. For the first 18 books. After that the more it lasted the worst it got. I stopped at book 32. These days I wouldn't give it more than 20.

Back to the good stuff. I found that Gaia was a good strong, pretty but still flawed character. She was special without being annoying. It's just that once the author stopped looking over the shoulder of the ghost writer. Things went down the drain pretty fast.

Last note. The series may be in boxes but I won't be giving them away any time soon. She's a good example of an interesting main character in an interesting premise.

This series is sooo damn addictive. Just wanted to record quick thoughts on this book-- is Sam supposed to be this blatantly scary or does Pascal think his obsession is romantic???? Sad to see Ella go but what an exit.
