Pain Free for Life: The 6-Week Cure for Chronic Pain--Without Surgery or Drugs

Rate this book
More than fifty million Americans suffer today from chronic pain. Dr. Scott Brady was one of them.

Doctors told him he would live with his back pain for the rest of his life. Having exhausted all options offered by conventional medicine, Dr. Brady overcame his pain using a mind-body-spirit approach'in an incredible four weeks. In 2000, he founded the Brady Institute, where more than 80 percent of his patients have achieved 80-100 percent pain relief, without surgery or drugs.

In Pain Free For Life , Dr. Brady sets a clear course for readers to diagnose what is really causing their pain 'autonomic overload syndrome, which is brought on by the repression of harmful negative emotions with profiles of pain-prone personalities and an innovative spiritual health inventory. He reveals the techniques behind his remarkably effective recovery plan, including the practice of depth journaling and prescriptions to boost the power of personal belief.

Dr. Brady's approach has helped his patients overcome such conditions as chronic back pain, nagging neck and shoulder pain, migraine or tension headaches, muscle pain, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, and many other chronic pain-associated ailments.

The principles and techniques described in Pain Free For Life will be illustrated by in-depth case studies. His proven 6-week program produces results in as little as thirty minutes a day.

I know the cover looks cheesy, but this book literally cured my chronic back pain. If you have any sort of pain that you can't get rid of and your doctors are telling you it's your weak core or herniated disk or anything else like that, read this. It will change your life. I also highly recommend reading Dr. John Sarno's The Divided Mind.

Wow, what a pile of bullshit. this DOCTOR thinks that if you write in a journal your pain will go away! He also thinks that most pain, even when diagnosed as having a medical basis, is in your head. He says that if you meditate and visualize beating up your pain, you will be pain free. He also thinks you should pray. If he was my doctor, I probably would turn to pray.

This one was also very helpful for me, except for a couple of things; I couldn't find information on how to be both a perfectionist and deal with the problems that that can cause me (he alluded to having more information in a later chapter, and I didn't see it) and the spiritual section. There's nothing wrong with having that in there, but I'm an atheist so it was not helpful for me.

I think I enjoyed Dr. Sarno’s book better, but this book gives step by step instructions including writing prompts. I’ll be putting those into practice and report later.

A different way to view pain that seems to be a good response to the general medical nonsense.

Original approach to dealing with chronic pain motivated by the author's own experience with pain and treatment. Straight forward writing with occasional repeated info or references to previous information that was not presented earlier. Impressive positive results based on the experiences his own patients.

This book can help you get rid of your pain if you follow his six week plan. Pain is connect to mind, body, and spirit, so you have to treat the whole person. You have to rethink how you think about pain as it relates to your body. If nothing else has worked for, you owe it to yourself to give this a try. I will be giving it a try. First I wanted to read it though, now to start the plan.
