The whole series about World Systems Evolution is great but this book in particular tops my shelf as it combines different spheres of knowledge in an extraordinary way. It also happens to overlap largely with my interests and it was a really great experience to see somebody else draw parallels and analogies between spheres as diverse as history, economics, philosophy, technology and neuroscience and in the same time transcend them all to form a new more holistic framework to explain the world. And all this from an author that was totally unknown to me up to this point and is clearly outside mainstream academia. I wish him good luck with all his ventures!
