Journey to the world of magical horses . . . Shine Anders is overjoyed to meet lovely Amia, the daughter of the legendary horse Jewel. Together they set out on an adventure to find the precious Ice Gems. Their journey takes a dangerous turn when Shine's best friend, Gertrude, is kidnapped by treasure hunters!
This was such fun and this world is so deep and imaginative despite being contained in such short books. I only wish this series had been continued! 😩 And the illustrations are beautiful though I love the cover the best out of all of them. 🥰
Shine, our main character from Jewel’s Magic, is back for another adventure along with her live doll friend Gertrude and Amia who is such a spirited, full of life filly I loved getting to know. I love the lore in each book and this one was no exception bringing wonderful layers to a story that could easily have just become a run of the mill kids fantasy without any care done to the world building at all.
I don’t have much else to say except this is a real gem of a series I wish more people knew about, and though the paperbacks are out of print if you find one I’d highly recommend picking them up!
‼️Content‼️
Violence: a harness rubs sores on a horse’s shoulders; a dog knocks down and pins a girl to the ground; a horse kicks at dogs; a horse has welts from a whip; a dog grabs a character in its mouth
Other: magic; magical creatures; animals and a character are kidnapped and locked up; characters are trapped in a blizzard
I read this series as a kid and this is my attempt to review it now:
The only reason I liked this book a bit less than the others in the series is that it felt like the first real "sequel" book as we see the same characters again from Jewel's Magic. It didn't feel as creative in that regard.
Other than that, I felt like this book had some great tension in the action scenes. The illustrations I can still remember to this day.
