Barbarian's Bride

Rate this book
Nora says she’s happy.

Dagesh isn’t so sure. He loves his pretty human mate and wants nothing more than to bring a smile to her face…so she’ll go running into his arms. When he asks the tribe what she’s missing, someone suggests a wedding.

All right, then. He’ll throw the best barbarian wedding ever.

So how does Nora tell her determined, thoughtful mate that what she wanted wasn’t a wedding…but something a little different in bed?

OMG noooooooooo This can not be the last book in the Ice Planet Barbarians series it just can't!!!!!!! I know there is still the Icehome but I need more. What about the kids? What about the couples? How are things going for the couples 10 years from now? It just can't end. I'm not ready. Don't do this to me Ruby Dixon please. Give me another book like a look at things years later to catch up with all the couples, then arch into the children's books. This series has been my comfort all through 2020 and this Covid crap. It has been my happy place and I am not ready to see it end.

Intimate issues!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😒😢😔😊

The heroine: Nora - the book begins with Nora being pregnant on the ice planet. She and Mate already have twin girls and she is getting to the point where she is sick and tired of being ungainly and uncomfortable.

The Hero: Dagesh - He is the mate of Nora who is a human woman. He loves her and their children and does his best to help her as she is so tired and unable to do much while she is so heavily pregnant.

The Story: One night while putting the girls to bed, Dagash is asked to tell them the story of how he and Nora first resonated so he starts to tell them the story of how they met. While listening, Nora thinks back on that time and fills in the blanks that Dagesh leaves with all the parts of their story that are too intimate and scandalous to tell their children.

I almost turned this audiobook off when it started out with Nora being pregnant and already having two children. I didn’t want to hear a story of two people already in a lasting relationship, but I am glad I kept listening because I like the story of two people meeting. This one was good because Dagesh resonated to Nora when they first met outside the crash site. Of course, she hadn’t gotten her Khui yet and was not ready for a mate. She is also into BDSM so that was different than many of the other books.

Vektal gives Dagash advice to go slow and be very gentle with his mate, which is not at all what Nora wants in a man. I liked the fact that Nora didn’t fight the resonance. She was all for it and went away with Dagash right away. The problems they had were in communication with regards to mating.

The book was told in both characters points of view and the audiobook was done in dual narration. The narration was done by Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd who have done most of this series and I like both of these narrators quite a bit.

(I know I say this every time I read one of these books, but...) MAN, I like these big, blue barbarians. And seeing the last of the originals find their happy place just makes me so happy. (A little sad, too, because what do you mean we've run through the entire group? How is that even possible? But at the same time, the KIDS! The couple are all officially paired up and they have these adorable, rambunctious kiddos and MY HEART EYES ARE STRONG!)

So. Nora and Dagesh. They're one of the first couples to resonate and things honestly go super well for them. Except...well, except for one teeny, tiny thing. Nora likes things a little rough in bed and Dagesh has no idea that's even a thing. Nora's willing to push what she needs aside because she's happy in every other way, but Dagesh knows something is bothering his mate.

Once Nora's wants come out in the open things take a while to get hashed out. Dagesh has a hard time wrapping his head around using dominance and/or pain to bring pleasure. He definitely doesn't want to hurt Nora, but she needs that little something extra to be satisfied. So they have to find a happy medium that doesn't cross Dagesh's hard line, but which still satisfies Nora.

Like I said, I adore these big, blue barbarians and the ladies who they're matched with. Big, blue barbarian love all around!

Finally, Nora and Dagesh!

I wanted to hear their story ever since that scene where the girls are in the pool and tease Nora about her feet thing. We don't really get an explanation of that, but I do like that she's kinky rather than all the other girls who were vanilla (as vanilla as you can be with huge blue aliens with spurs on their things).

It’s so sad to hear this is the last Ice Planet Barbarian book because it’s been a wonderful journey. Even with the other series on the planet happening concurrently it still feels like the ending of a life chapter or something else significant. But that being said us fans have talked RD into starting another series on the planet so I know if we beg and plead we may just be able to get more, perhaps about the next generation or even a new ship landing on Not Hoth. 😘🙏🏼😘 I’m still waiting to see if/how all her series’ will converge because I’m still hoping that’s a real thing and not just a pipe dream. That being said this was such a bittersweet and adorable read to end out the series. I think this was also the naughtiest of the series and that’s saying a lot for alien men who like to get down with their mates nonstop. The heroine Norah likes her kink and once she got over her fear of rejection she did a wonderful job bringing her mate into the fold and making him feel comfortable with satisfying her needs. I think a lot of the miscommunication between them was mostly because of the language and alien/human barriers standing in their way. A spanking to her mate is akin to a beating and so it’s up to Norah to naughty up her man and introduce him to this side of human culture 😏. I really enjoyed this book. I think Ruby handled the realm of light kink and BDSM very well. In her usual RD fashion this shouldn’t turn off those who don’t much like those topics as she barely brushes the surface and keeps things pretty tame. It was a super fast read and had quite a few character drop ins so it was nice to see old faces. The story was a cute wrap up to a couple that never got their full dues as they so quickly fell in love and gave into resonance unlike many of their stubborn peers lol.

Not me over here crying because this is the last book in the original IPB series. What a ridiculous notion. I would never.

So I've been waiting for Nora and Dagesh ever since book three when Kira said that Nora likes being spanked because she can hear her and Dagesh when they have sex, and from that moment on I was here for it. The Sa-khui have no concept of kink, so it was fun reading about Nora teaching Dagesh how to safely and consensually dominate her in bed because it goes against his instincts to be gentle and protective since the Sa-khui all drink respect women juice as a regular part of their diet. Dagesh arranging a Jewish wedding ceremony for Nora was also adorable. I'm going to miss the original tribe so much but hopefully we'll continue to occasionally see them in the Icehome series.

Mommy likes being spanked and held down by Daddy. Isn't that romantic? Don’t worry, she didn’t actually say that to her kids…lol 💙🤍🩵🤍💙 That was possibly the best line in the book…lol, I enjoyed this book, nice way to end THIS series (there are spin-offs/sister books, Thankfully 🥰, as I seem to need a fix of those gentle yet horny, big blue Barbarians & other sweetly protective Aliens 🤭💋💋)

It’s a nice POV from Nora and Dagesh on the (kinky) needs vs not doing harm to your mate (spanking), as always, filled with sweetness 💙💙💙💙💙
“my pretty one” - who wouldn’t want to be called that by their love 🫠🫠🫠

🤭 Dagesh gives me a look that's both thoughtful and amused. “Explain to me why humans smack each other on the butt then, as you say. It knocks out the naughtiness?”
“Rarely”
I joke.

This was so cute.

How do you get the sweetest most considerate blue barbarian alien to understand that you need it a little rough, when the thought of hurting you in any way makes them horrified. I loved reading about Dagesh and Nora figuring it out. (I also really loved a forceful IPB...yes please!!)

I loved this installment in the series! Nora and Dagesh didn’t have that instant perfect sex and it took some time to figure out how to meet in the middle, which was the focus of the book. Kink can be tricky, especially if one has never heard of kink, like Dagesh. Both of them adored one another and were willing to put in the work needed. Dagesh was the sweetest boi, such a consent king. Nora was confident and able to roll with the punches, which complemented Dagesh’s steadiness. They were freaking adorable together.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: abduction and spaceship crash (off page), pregnancy and childbirth, mentions of parent death, kink shaming

Barbarian’s Bride de Ruby Dixon Serie Ice planet barbarians libro 20

Argumento:

I have been a long time fan of this series but the stories were starting to have a same old same old feeling. There is sometimes not enough conflict in a book where the ending is even more predetermined than in most romance novels. Here though the author did a good job introducing some conflict into the pairing of the main couple. The story focuses on personality conflicts that happen after the parasite joins them up as they learn to cohabit and build a relationship. So kudos to the author.

I am sad to let this series go because apparently, this was the last IPB couple.
This was by far the most enjoyable series I have read. Who would have thought it would be such a long series back in 2017?
I think I have re-read this series couple of times as well but never logged in.

WOW AMAZINGGGGG

Did I think Ruby wouldn’t go out and finish this series WITH A BANG?! Absolutely not… but I am still super impressed at how she incorporated so many real life things and issues into this series!!!

I have been so deep into romance books with a heavy side of BDSM and Kink and the last place I imagined I’d be getting some of this was IPB!! Like whaaaaat!!

Obviously she handled it so well! I was so hooked at how she handled introducing someone who knows absolutely nothing about kink to it. It was so well done, great pacing, I loved the banter and the romance between Nora and Dagesh. He is such a sweet cinnamon roll.. but then again so many of her blue giants are!

I cannot believe I have no more IPB after this 😪 how do I go on living like this!!

Barbarian's Bride was cute, but not a favorite. I think that Nora could have explained herself better at the beginning and Dagesh could have listened instead of assuming what was best for her. But, I liked the discussion about consent and how they learned to compromise and be a couple.

I thought this took ages to finish but looking back when I started to relisten to this series, which was in March. It didn't take that long to complete. Last book in the original series and it feels slightly empty to not have any more stories to hear. But I think Ruby Dixon have quite a few spinoff that seems to be in the same world so I'll see what to pick up next. Thinking of listening to a different alien romance for awhile to have something different. But not sure

Picture Frodo at the top of Mt Doom, lava flowing around him, tears running rivulets down his mud caked face. He’s exhausted and has lost a part of himself forever due to the long journey he has faced. I am Frodo. It is Finished.

5 stars to Ms Dixon because she said Megan I am PULLING you through this pregnancy with NINETEEN truly INSANE books about blue alien men. At the end of the ONE HUNDRED STRAIGHT AUDIOBOOK HOURS I have spent with these people, I feel like I could live on Not Hoth myself.

EGOTs to the narrators Hollie and Mason, who, with straight faces and honorable hearts, performed every single word of these books TO THE BACK OF THE ROOM, BABY.

3.5 ⭐ Thanks to Jewish wedding customs, light consent play, and safe words, Nora and Dagesh find their groove 😉

I cannot believe this is the final story in the Ice Planet Barbarians series. What a ride!

I started reading these books as a joke because they were all over Booktok, but I can genuinely say it has been an absolute delight! Who would have thought an alien erotica series could be full of such loveable characters, great world-building, and entertaining storylines???

My heart is with the human women and blue aliens of Not-Hoth! ❤️ I can't wait to continue reading Icehome and I hope Ruby Dixon writes a IPB Next Generation series about their children when they’ve grown up!
