Another beautiful Martingale book, one that I, sadly, don't have the time to review properly right now. Suffice it to say that there's many quite beautiful sweaters, a goodly amount of well-written instruction, sumptuous pictures, AND all stitches written in full within the patterns (my favorite method, HATE charting!).

On the surface this looks like a lovely book of knitted women's sweaters but as I looked closer I had an uncomfortable feeling that I would feel uncomfortable in these sweaters! It has to do with the shoulders of most all of them. The shoulder seams extend past the shoulder and most all the models are fairly broad shouldered. I am not. The patterning for these sweaters involves the shoulder and underarm area and even though I'm a fairly experienced knitter, I don't think I like the designs enough to rework that area to fit me. I've had enough sweaters that I've knit that are wonky at the shoulders to know to look at them when I'm contemplating a new sweater pattern. These sweaters are feminine but seem repressed to me somehow... Ok for some but not for me.
