Her world is turned upside down when her husband asks for a trial separation. Peter Bennett is looking for a change. Finally free from a loveless marriage, he is looking for a strong female presence in his life to help him raise his young daughter. A strong female presence in his bed wouldn't be so bad either. Georgie realizes that her friends are perfect for one another despite the rocky start that brings them together. When the two finally find happiness in one another's arms and are prepared to begin anew, they are suddenly faced with a shocking discovery. It turns out that Clemency's soon to be ex-husband has been harboring a secret that may change their lives forever.

What a lovely read.

I am astounded be the characters in this book. I can see them in my minds eye. C. J. Roark has built a love story that I wasn't expecting. It's a grand thing to read this. It's the love story of a lifetime.

Charming characters & engaging plot (plus steamy sex) is a perfect combination!

I burned my way through this book and my only regret is now I can't read it for the first time again. I'll admit, I was hesitant going in - the romance genre pulls up some cringey images, such as no real plot and flat characters - but Clemency and Peter and the entire cast of this book are so wonderfully thought-out and fleshed-out and genuinely the last chapter before the epilogue made me tear up.

It was such a lovely journey getting to watch Peter and Clemency bloom as characters and watch them build relationships and rediscover themselves and their passions for life (and each other) throughout the course of this novel. Plus their well-written steamy sex was a blast and a blessing to read.

Excellent first outing

The characters were strong and well developed. The story was engaging and hard to put down. I can't wait for a sequel to find out about Clemency's growing family and career.
