Sometimes I found myself annoyed at how much this book encouraged me to think for myself. Wouldn't things be easier if they would just tell me what to do and when to do it?!? Anyway, but since we aren't robots, and there's all that free will and individual responsibility stuff, it turns out that thinking for myself is a good habit to cultivate, and this book had a number of great questions for me to ask myself and mull over. I definitely recommend it.
This book is great. It really breaks down the spiritual responsibility we have to Christ and ourselves. I have learned that as a humble servant of Christ, I must be willing to suffer in ways similar to Christ with an attitude of Christ. In doing so, I will be conformed to the image of Christ. My purpose in this world is to become more Christ-like and to spend time serving God through praise, studying the Word, and obeying the commandments.
The questions I’ve kept on hearing in my journey of trying to be a good Christian woman have been, why has the lord decided to make me a woman, and what is my purpose???
Asa Christian women, we need to remember that the Bible is fraught with reassurance and astuteness as to who we are and better comprehend the function the Lord has made for us. We also must remember that He has created you in His image.
1 CORINTHIANS 15:10 [NKJV] reminds all women of the following:
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
And once we come to realize the truth as to why we are the way we are. We should go and exalt the Lord in the manner that gets found in reading PROVERBS 139:14 [NKJV]:
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
When we ask ourselves what our purpose is, we need to remember that the Spirit of the Lord might have endowed us with a gift, which 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-11 [NKJV] tells us about:
4] There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5] There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6] And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9] to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10] to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11] But the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
While all the above might be true, the important thing we need to remember for being the woman that we are is that the Lord has blessed us with the ability to bring forth life, with the seed[s] that He has placed in our wombs, and that we had been made in His image.
While what I’ve stated is the truth as far as I am concerned. I feel we still need a professional guide to provide us, as Christian women, with a better comprehension of our identity, the Lord’s will, and most importantly, His intended purpose for us as His one of its kind creation. In reading this devotional book by Cynthia Heald, I found her to be the formidable type of guide we require. For being the type of guide, we require to discover the purpose of our lives as Christian women; I’ve given Ms. Heald 5 STARS.
I read this book via an Amazon KU [KINDLE Unlimited] download.
I believe any Christian woman can be blessed by this. Subjects include "To Conform Us to Christ," "to Establish His Kingdom," and "To Wait on God With Hope," to name a few. I love how Bible passages are referenced for the most part instead of printed in the book. It really encourages the reader to do her own searching and reflecting. The quotations from different authors are deep and meaningful. I also enjoyed reading the author's reflections. One of the questions did bother me, which was: "How might I be hindering God's desire to make me like His Son?" The truth is, God takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked and desires that all men should be saved (Ezekiel 33:11 and 1 Timothy 2:4).
Becoming a Woman of Purpose is a short devotional book for girls filled with relevant quotes, useful verses and detailed questions in every chapter that you can ponder about whilst studying the word of God.
A true woman of purpose is a woman who seeks God in everything she does. Trusting the Lord with her life and guided by the Holy Spirit's wisdom, the path she takes is not an easy one. For it involves challenges and problems along the way. But she doesn't let it get to her because she knows that above all else, God is sovereign and suffering produces a strong heart and mind.
I love Cynthia Heald's Bible studies. I think this is the 4th one I've done and I get more and more out of them each time as my relationship with the Lord grows too! The best part of her studies, and the hardest, are the open ended questions where you really examine your faith and your life. No easy answers! And anything worth doing usually isn't easy :)
Good study on why you do what you do. I enjoyed how the book posed specific questions that made me think of my own purposes behind what I do and what my intentions should be.
This is definitely a Bible study, not just a book. She writes little in comparison to how much it is simply compiled. Lots of scripture, lots of quotes in each chapter.
