Vonna Harper

Under her "real" name, Vonna Harper has published more fiction than she can keep track of . These include category romances for the major players as well as the 'juicy' stuff. She also penned a series of well-received Native American historicals. One earned her finalist status in both the Women Writing the West Willa award and Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association. Before discovering romances, both erotic and otherwise, Vonna 'confessed' all kinds of nonsense for the confession magazines.

When asked about erotica research, she insists, "Of course I've time-traveled to the ancient Everglades, infiltrated bondage strongholds, done wilderness search and rescue, and spent a night trapped in a workout gym with Mr. Universe. How can I possibly write about something I haven't experienced?"

As for day jobs, "I've been a commercial pilot, brain surgeon, worked as a white-water river guide, bee keeper, snake charmer, and garbage collector."

honestly a bit disappointed. To be honest based on the warnings and description I expected it to be more
dub-con or even a little non-con, and while elements were present the book was tamer than I thought it would be. Still definitely 18+ though. The world building was interesting and I do think a series could be built in the world, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. If you don’t already have expectations (ao3 type), then you should enjoy it.

Nakos is an Ekewoko warrior. His entire tribe of people has fled their home due to an invasion from outsiders. The Ekewoko shaman, leader and a few warriors have ventured to a distant land to see that the shaman’s vision save the Ekewoko people. After Nakos captures a “Wilding” the Ekewoko feel assured that they will return to their homeland soon. When Jola is captured by one of the warriors who have set up camp near her homeland she soon learns that they have some rather nefarious plans towards her people. Jola is a Falcon who has recently lost her mate. She knows that this wayward group of people is responsible for his death.
I liked the overall story. The characters and the world in which they inhabit are very interesting. This is a very sexual book, but I had a few issues that brought the rating down for me. The main male/hero of this book utilizes sexual punishment for interrogation purposes. The sex scenes are written very erotically I just do not enjoy reading sex with that nature of a dominance tone to it.

A seductive and romantic BDSM tale.

When Nakos, an Ekewoko warrior, captures Jola, he gets more than the primitive Wilding his elders ordered him to seize. Jola is a falcon female shapeshifter, whose young mate died victim of an Ekewoko’s arrow. The predator inside her craves revenge, which makes her bondage more humiliating.

Vonna Harper renders the characters and the world they dwell, beautifully. The sex scenes are fervid and sultry. The ropes Nakos uses to subdue Jola are spellbinding, slowly but certainly Jola falls in love with her captor. While Nakos’ ritual of dominance and submission turn him into a slave to his captive’s sensual body and untamed spirit. All of this happening in the middle of a dark conspiracy. I like the fact that the BDSM is perfectly woven into the plot without unnecessary violence. Falcon's Captive is a perfect example of an erotic romance well done.

Couldn't finish it. Really? Who would have sexual fantasies about someone that possibly killed your mate that you loved?
