One Night

Rate this book
Previously published as One Night by Nicola C. Priest

Just one night. That’s what I told myself. One night of madness before I start my new career, far away from my interfering parents, overprotective brother, and cheating jerk of an ex-boyfriend. Having a one night stand hadn't been part of my plan, but what a one night stand it was. I mean, best I've ever had, and by that I mean totally mind-blowing! Who'd have believed I would bump into him several weeks later. Yes, my one night stand has a name, Kyle Brendan, and he just happens to be my new boss! If that wasn't bad enough, he is right in my eye line eight hours a day, looking handsome in his three piece suits, hiding what I know is a sinfully delicious body underneath.I promised myself our tryst would be for just one night, but now that I see him every day, I'm starting to wonder, will one night be enough?

Nicky is a British author from the West Midlands, England. When she's not writing, she loves running, musical theatre, singing, and of course, reading. She has a fondness for mint chocolate, Italian food, and a nice medium-rare steak with all the trimmings.

Writing has always been something I've been interested in. I can go right back to my school days and think about how much I enjoyed my Creative Writing classes.

I was first published when I was fourteen when a poem I wrote about a cat was featured in a charity poetry book. I still have my copy of that book. I was so proud.

It wasn't until 2014 that I began to think I could actually write novels. The characters started speaking to me, resulting in my first book, Heart and Soul.

Since then, I have published a number of novels and novellas, with lots more to come.

One Night by Nicola Priest was the perfect escapism - an easy, light-hearted, sexy, uncomplicated read that delivered in all the right places, and had me 'googling' Porthcurno on more than one occasion.

What should have been a no holds barred night out in Bristol for Ellie with her best friend, turned into a passionate one-night stand with a gorgeous guy up against a wall in the managers office. Completely out of character, but what the hell... she's about to take flight and spread her wings to the beautiful South West coast of Cornwall.

A new home, new job and a new start beckons, and Ellie was excited to start this next chapter in her life, only to have the wind knocked from her sails when the man who she had one wild night with back in Bristol walks into her new workplace, donning a three piece suit and a managing joint director smile.

With warring emotions and the fear of what this means for her career, Ellie tries to put what happened to the back of her mind and keep the delectable Kyle at a distance, but with his office situated opposite her desk, and a boss used to getting what he wants, Ellie realises that just maybe...one night wasn't enough.

This was my first book by Nicola C. Priest and it was enjoyable without being over-complicated. A great summer romance and well written read.

I found this book very enjoyable; it was a nice little escape from the world of work and home schooling. I did find it very similar to one I had read not that long ago by another author, but I find that happens within the genres, especially the romance genre and it didn’t take anything away from this story at all.

What are the chances of a one-night stand turning out to be your new boss, in a job hundreds of miles away from where you met? Not very high but unfortunately for Ellie, that is exactly what happened.

Ellie was a smart, sassy, confident young woman and Kyle sounded like every woman’s dream. This was a story of love and friendships and determination to overcome the obstacles in life, no matter what was thrown at Ellie she overcame it and came out better for it.

I loved this book from start to finish it included great detail of the people and surroundings allowing me to imagine what the houses, offices and shops in town look like as well as the characters, even the details to the clothing bought at the delicate little boutique store, it allowed me to perfectly picture what the dresses that the girls were wearing looked like.

I liked that you got the story from both Ellie and Kyle’s perspective it allowed you engage in both of their feelings and desires, so it wasn’t all one sided.

So, one night of wanting to forget about life turned into an entirely new life and an epic love story that will hopefully stand the test of time.

I’ve just finished this book.
I’ve only ever read one book by Nicola priest before. And I was dubious to wether her writing could make me as emotional again or was the last boom a fluke.
Well I wasn’t disappointed. I fell in love with Ellie from the start. She’s young, ballsy and really could fit in to your friend circle so easily.
And Kyle and Kevin, my I was swooning I want to work with them!!!
This is a lovely story. Not really about how boy meets girl. But more what do they want, is it the right thing, can they get over obstacles and families.
Beautiful book, beautifully written. Come and fall in love with Ellie and join in on her emotional rollercoaster

As always Nicola's style of writing has kept me captivated from the first page. I love how she makes you feel part of the story plot and living in the moment. I found myself cheering on the characters and sharing their emotions, both happy and sad. The chemistry between Ellie and Kyle is amazing, and reading from both their perspectives keeps their journey alive.
Becky is a funny character, her little quips make you laugh out loud.
Another book is much needed

Drawn into reading this by cover alone i was looking forward to reading this story.
It was definitely good fun lighthearted reading but also has some drama and issues through out the story.
When Ellie and Kyle meet up in a nightclub and have one night of fun noone expects what happens next for them a few days later!
Love the friendship between Ellie and Becky and also Ellie and brother Eric.
These pair make a great couple.

Had me gripped from page one, walking around with kindle in hand real characters true to life , and because you see the story from each of the main character perspective it adds to the reality. very gritty, erotic and romantic a brilliant book, can't wait for Nicola's next one.

I love finding new to me authors and diving into their stories which is the case for this book and author. I felt connected to Ellie from the start and it continued as the story evolved. I love the connection with Ellie and Kyle. I'm not one for giving spoilers as I don't want to be the one to give a story away. You should read this book, fall in love with the characters and their journey. It's definitely worth the read! Can't wait to read more from the author.

We have all wanted one night where we want to lose our usual boundaries, to forget maybe or just feel. What she didn't plan on was actually seeing him again in her new job let alone being one of her bosses. Absolutely loved this scenario with great characters that you really get to know and maybe some of the situations you can relate to or know someone who has been in that situation. Brilliant read not to be missed.

I received a free copy of this book.

Ellie is a sweet girl really starting her adult life. A one night stand in a bar becomes a flirtation with her boss, then a hidden relationship. Kyle is a pretty good guy, but has a long history of being very busy with women. It’s very sweet how he works to win over Ellie. I really enjoyed this story.

What a fantastic story! I loved everything about this book, from the very first chapter to the last. Ellie is a young woman looking to start a new life away from her parents and finds a fantastic job. So what does any young woman do before starting a new job, they go out with their best friend and celebrate. Except Ellie didn't anticipate meeting up with a handsome stranger who would blow her mind! So, imagine her surprise when she starts her new job and meets her bosses, that one of them is the mind blowing guy! When Kyle is introduced to Ellie at his company, he is more than shocked to see who she is. Can these two keep it a secret? The attraction between them is incredible so it will definitely be hard to stay away from each other. But can Kyle convince Ellie that they belong together? Ellie doesn't want to lose her job so she pushes him away. But how long can she stay away from him?

I loved these two characters so much that I rooted for them throughout the entire story! Their interactions were not just steamy, but actually charming. Ellie is described as a smart, beautiful young woman, and based on what I read, a bit of a spitfire too! As for Kyle, who doesn't love a man who is assertive with tattoos to boot! There is just so much to love about this story that I truly believe everyone needs to read it. It's a definite must read!!

Received an Arc for a honest review.

I loved this book. so much so I want another one. Either about Ellie & Kyle or from the other characters..

this book contains a bit of heartbreak, a wild night out that comes back to haunt you in the future and tension that you can cut with a knife. it also contains a twist with the Ellies brother I didn't even see coming.

If you like all the things above this book is for you.

enjoy

What a fantastic read and what a connection between Kyle and Ellie. Who knows what a night of passion can lead to? Well Ellie's about to find out. A beautiful story told in a wonderfully calm way. After all the angsty books I've been reading lately this book was like a breath of fresh air. Well done Nicola xx

DNF at 59%.

I was looking for a light, easy read, standalone as a palette cleanser and this sounded perfect - a one night stand turns out to be your new boss!

However, for me the plot felt flat. I just didn't connect with the characters or the story. There was a lot of unnecessary filler which adds nothing to the plot and I think it would have been much better had it been 100 pages shorter and felt more like a novella.

It took me 2 days to get to 59% as it was a struggle for me to get through it.
