title: The Moonstone Major, Meara Platt rating: 3.8/5 ⭐️'s
This story was adorable and quite refreshing for me! It was shorter than I had anticipated, and the beginning started off quicker than I had expected (ie, essentially tossed into the story and emotions), but I ended up really liking Chloe and Fionn. Their romance was sweet, aching with pining, and a delicious romance on different societal roles and overcoming those for romance. The side characters were nice and while I had not read the previous books in the series, I was not very confused on who everyone was. I just might read more of this series! The traits in this story were also fun, especially with the supernatural tidbits, and they added unique character to this series and story.
There were a few lulls in the story, but it wasn't anything overwhelming. I really enjoyed this and will give it a re-read once I read the other stories! Check out this author and her works, you won't regret it.
What a delightful story for Chloe and Fionn. It was grand to see them matured from previous books. Watching the ghosts pull their shenanigans once again is always a joy. Wanted to slap Fionn silly for all his prideful attitudes, but being an honorable man, even with his extremely hard start in life, made him quite the hero! Would have loved to have seen more about the villains setback and fall from grace, and could only think that Chloe’s assumptions were correct. Once again, the author writes well developed characters, both primary and secondary, as well as a great story. Not sure if there are anymore Moonstone Landing stories, but I will miss this cute village if it is!
I received this ARC copy for free and these are my own opinions.
I love Meara Platt. The Moonstone Cottage once again works it's magic for Chloe Killigrew and Major Fionn Brennan. Falling in love with Chloe is the major's joy and pain. Growing up an orphan on the streets of London, what does he have to offer except himself. Chloe doesn't care if they don't have the wealth of her sisters and their husbands. Captain Arundel, the ghost captain, has his own ideas about revealing secrets that lead to Fionn's true birthright. I was expecting more conflict with Fionn's enemies, but everything in that direction was off the pages. Puzzling when you consider they made one show of hand.
Um, I loved it but I want to know all the details of what happened between the last two chapters. I'm missing a whole year of information that I'm desperate to know what happened in. Bummer ending!
This book was fascinating and a recommended read for anyone interested in the mystery of Rennes le Chateau. Easy to read, very accessible without denigrating the vast subject matter. Will definitely be looking out for other work by the same author.
