J M previously worked in a professional capacity as a podiatrist in the National Health Service but always had a desire to be an author.

She belonged to a spiritual group for eight years, following a particular spiritual lifestyle and making three pilgrimage trips to India. Her involvement fostered a lifelong fascination with powers of the mind. Two decades later she had the opportunity to join a group run by British ex-Special Forces and was a civilian member for six years. During that time she did extensive research into the military and intelligence worlds. These background experiences helped in the creation of her books.

The grand finale to a fantastic series. This brings closure not just to Lock and the Shadow team, but to a series full of twists and turns, an empathetic portrayal of military and special forces personnel, raw adventure, and an authentically and viably created ‘alternative’ world. While all tensions and loose ends are neatly dovetailed and sorted in this final book, we still experience the succession of thrills and shocks—such as the race against time to combat a deadly virus—the author skilfully weaves into her narratives. Cleverly and expertly done. I believed in the fantasy world the author has created, and the well-researched and gritty depiction of special forces, and in the characters that populate them. Highly recommended.
