Thorn Ferrell is a courier for the new American Secret Service, entrusted with carrying a secret message into Romania in the dead of winter. It would be impossible for anyone to pass the Carpathian Mountains, but not Thorn, for she is also a werewolf. Settling into a deep cave for the night, she senses something else there in the dark. . .something not quite human, something that provokes both fear and a primal lust. And then he appears--tall, sensual, predatory, with black eyes and a body of carved beauty. . .
As a vampire, Yaroslav is used to hunting for prey. But the beautiful naked woman who emerges from the wolf's form arouses a far different hunger. She is his equal in power, sensual skill, and carnal appetite. If he cannot tame her, he can certainly pleasure her. As they spend the night taking each other to new heights of raw need and unimaginable bliss, Yaroslav experiences something new, a desire so deep he will do anything to keep his new lover by his side forever. . .
Praise for the sizzling novels of Morgan Hawke

"Writing is more than my passion -- it's my obsession."
Morgan Hawke has been writing erotic fiction since 1998. She has lived in seven states of the US and spent two years in England. She has been an auto mechanic, a security guard, a waitress, a groom in a horse-stable, in the military, a copywriter, a magazine editor, a professional tarot reader, a belly-dancer and a stripper. Her personal area of expertise is the strange and unusual.
Gosh, this book started out with so much promise and halfway through turned completely boring. The plot was lame and the characters 2 dimensional. This caught me off guard as I really enjoyed Ms. Hawke's The Pirate's Pixie. This book is a historical as it set in 1876, but you'll be scratching your head later when all of a sudden it turns futuristic. A ship in the sky? A city in the sky? PLEASE. The book reads like a bad historical romance- albeit a little more detailed, but pretty far from the "erotica" that it is. Skip this one.
I actually liked this more than I thought I would. Thorn is a strong, likeable and sexy as hell. Yaroslav is dark, handsome and funny as hell. He is quick witted and had me laughing a few times through the book. This is the first time I've read something by Morgan and I will definitely being more of her work. Good pace, loads of action, hot sex and humorous. Highly recommend.
4/5 stars, minor points off because the FMC ends up whammied unconscious multiple times (by the MMC) – because simply explaining the situation and allowing her to make a choice would take too much time apparently. Zzz. It may fit with his characterization as a possessive Vampire Lord who doesn’t fully understand consent due to his ability to simply Compel other beings, but it happens several times and cuts into the feeling of action for me. The story still gets 4 stars for having a unique and vivid landscape, with several atmospheric details reminiscent of Howl’s Moving Castle and Full Metal Alchemist. (Would’ve loved a sequel to this for the Naga Character, Belus – he was very bitchy and interesting. Or something with Prince Rafael.) Main Character: Thorn Ferrell / Love interest & MMC: Yaroslav Setting: Late 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. Use of steamboats, trains, and fantastical airships. Historical fantasy. Set in Romania. Plot: Thorn is a courier for the United States newly formed Secret Service. She is an agent with a unique advantage – she is a werewolf. She is no natural werewolf however – her soul has been magically transfigured with that of a wolf, against her will. She works for the Secret Service due to being rescued by an agent shortly after her transformation, but she yearns to break free of her obligations and be free. While on a mission to receive an important package, she meets Yaroslav – a manipulative Vampire Lord who is on a mission of his own, but that doesn’t sway him from striving to have ownership over Thorn, whether it be through the bonds of love or magic. Conflict: Thorn vs. Yaroslav, more so Thorn struggles to admit her feelings for Yaroslav and commit to staying with him. Simultaneously Yaroslav often hides information from Thorn, and often uses magic to compel or control her. Thorn vs. Dr. Townsend, who bound her soul to a wolf’s. Thorn vs. Evil Minions and undead zombies. Style: Heavy action/heavy suspense. Strong fantasy elements that felt well-rooted within the story and time period. Werewolves, Vampires and other creatures were able to exist within the story without feeling too mythical or too watered down. Heavily explicit erotica that balanced well with the plot. Third Person Limited POV.
Very disappointing. I love Morgan Hawke but Kiss Of The Wolf is not very well put together. The basic plot has a strong outline but it is pieced together rather poorly and the dialogue is awful.
It helped having read Passion's Vintage. The way the vampires bond is not explained much in this one.
Heroine had no agency at all and I have trouble believing in the book's HEA knowing full well that there is a MASSIVE power imbalance between her and the hero.
Thorn Ferrell is a werewolf--and a courier for the new American Secret Service. Crossing the Carpathian Mountains in the dead of winter she encounters a tall, seductive vampire. Yaroslav is used to hunting for prey, but Thorn arouses a different, carnal hunger, and each will take the other to new heights of bliss... - Morgan Hawke's sensual paranormal erotica will appeal to fans of Angela Knight (Jane's Warlord) and Kate Douglas (Wolf Tales)
_______________________________________________________________________ REVIEW:THIS BOOK WAS EXCELLENT! DIFFERENT THAN MOST VAMPIRE/WEREWOLF/ETC. BOOKS THAT I'VE READ-WHICH IS GOOD, BECAUSE I'M GLAD THIS BOOK WAS SO AMAZING! AT FIRST WHEN I READ THE SUMMARY I WAS LIKE"OK, ANOTHER VAMP BOOK...PROBALY THE SAME AS OTHER BOOKS, BUT IM SO BORED I'LL READ ANYTHING AT THIS MOMENT"- AND I AM GLAD TO SAY THAT THIS BOOK PROVED ME WRONG. THERE WAS DIFFERENT SPICES TO THIS BOOK, AS A FEW CHANGES TO VAMPIRE LEGEND. WARNING:THIS BOOK HAS SOME PUNISHMENT SPANKING-BUT NOT JUST ANY SPANKING....LETS JUST SAY A HAIRBRUSH WAS INVOLVED. Overall, excellent 3 hour read-as for others...depends on how slow you read. I would love to have read Insatiable, because i wanted to read raphael s love story, but im not into threesomes.... Damn, wish i could have just read about raphael and a girl like this book, but with another guy in the book also... im not saying I disagree with how the book was written, im just not someone interested in threesome. But im hoping in the future i can read more awesome books by morgan hawke. :)
________________________________________________________________ PLEASE DON'T READ FORWARD,SPOILERS(AS IN NOTES ON WHAT HAPPENED THROUGHOUT BOOK-LITERALLY).:) Yaroslav(imma call him Yaro) saw thorn and followed her thinking she was just wolf so he would feed off of her, but instead he finds his life, his treasure. The magnificent wolf is a human! and not just any human, but a beauty at it. The cool thing was that when he drank her blood, he started to grow younger. its because of the magic in her blood. He finds out that her creator forced her to be turned into wolf, by putting her and a wolf in a circle, and using magic to unite them as one. rafael is the prince and yaro and thorn went to see him. there are the undead that eat humans and destroys villages and places, including yaro's place/mansion. Yaro is a russian prince. yaro becomes thorn's creator by changing and re-creating thorn. raphael is the prince of vampires. belus ends up kidnapping her to use her as bait, and i thought he was a real asshole(he still is), but i can see that she was needed and he did the right thing. Max died a painful death but at least it was fast.and the person that created the undead enemies and the beastly max..well, lets just say berlus did to him what he deserved. IN THE END YARO BECOMES OFFICER, MARRIES TO THORN(WHICH TOOK SOME CONVINCING), AND THEIR ALL HAPPY.

Gasp! Is that a plot? Really an erotica novel with a plot? And it was a great plot too. This felt like it easily could have been set in the movie worlds of "Van Helsing" or "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". I really liked that Thorn (our heroine) didn't always do what the macho man told her to. I think I'm slightly in love with the hero -- he was awesome and I would love to read more books set in the world presented. It was a very intriguing universe.
That said, there were a few flaws to the story when the magic unraveled. The one that most glaringly comes to might is that early in the story Thorn can't eat bread because it doesn't agree with her but then later she's eating toast just fine. And one character who is sometimes a snake leaves me confused.
Otherwise a much better than average read. I don't like BDSM (didn't realize this book was supposed to be it) but I did enjoy this. Another book by this author worth investigating is "Pixie's Pirate." about what happens to Capt. Hook and Tinkerbelle after Peter Pan grows up.
This is really good but a little far-fetched. It's more urban fantasy than paranormal with vampires, werewolves, magic, science, the plague and let's not forget wild sex.
Werewolf Thorn is a courier for the US government in the 1800s. Her mission is to deliver some documents to Rumania. Along the way she is intercepted by Yaroslav, the vampire, who is seriously sexy and dominant. The sparks immediately fly and Thorn is trapped by her sexual nature. Then zombies appear and otherworld politics intrude so it's off to the castle in the sky (literally) to appear before the Senate. Like I said a little far-fetched but very enjoyable. The sex is a little rough and violent but the werewolf and the vampire seem to hit is off tremendously and neither gets hurt.
Average book. To me it was nothing special. The heroine might as well have been saying "Dagnabbit", the stuff coming out of her mouth was so hokey. And for Yaroslav to fall in love with her so quickly, just didn't see it.
Thorn (yes that's her name in the 1870s) is a courier werewolf working for the Secret Service. Yaroslav is a tsar/watchmaker vampire who follows her when she's a wolf into a cave to get a late night snack. Then he finds out she's more than a wolf and they fall on the ground and have sex, which is totally understandable. I've seen it happen many times. No wait I've never seen that happen unless it was a porn movie from the 1970s and the guy is a repairman.
I read this book a few years ago and I recently found it at the back of my book cabinet. I don't even remember I own this title, lol!
It's a stand alone paranormal erotica and one of the best I had ever read. I have forgotten most of the details but I do remember that the chemistry between vampire Yaroslav and werewolf Thorn are combustible! I do recommend this book to paranormal romance fans who likes something hot and sexy. It is an erotica after all ;)
Surprisingly good considering the blurb. I especially enjoyed the fact that the heroine had a rather simple thought process - which makes perfect sense to me for a werewolf. I think she should have had some issues with the authority the others supes had over her - and especially the hero, but since this had a rather historical feel I was able to get over it. I think I will be looking for more by this author.
This one was strange. It was boring yet interesting and I continued to read. Actually, I wouldn't mind reading more books about some of the characters in here. If I remember correctly, it was not so good when the wolf shapeshifter and the vampire were separated but when they were together the book had some good parts.
Normally I am a huge Morgan Hawke fan. This book was rough. I feel like maybe it was rushed? It doesn't have the usual polish and sexiness I come to associate with Ms. Hawke. The concept is good. The world building was a bit thin. The characters... forgettable. Which is odd for me since most of the stories I've read by Ms. Hawk, the characters and sex are unforgettable.
This book was really good! It had werewolves, vampires, magic, zombies, steam-punk elements. The one thing that was odd, Thorn's dialogue seemed really modern for a Victorian-era novel. She was American, but it still seemed out of place many times. I loved the book, though. 4.5 stars.
I think it was a good read, I would recommend it. I just couldn't like the idea of rainbow wings and unicorns. Not in a Vampire and Werewolf novel. Good story line and love me some Rafael! The main character Yaro was good and Thorn was kick ass! "I would like to inspect your aspect" heheh
This was a very good book. Thorn, a werewolf, accidentally bites Yaroslav, a vampire, while on a mission and unknowingly ties herself to him. They have several adventures and save the world. A feel good story with some sexy bits added in for fun. An enjoyable read.
