This book, modeled after the fabulous show of the same name on HGTV, is wonderful! I love seeing how they can totally transform a house with just $2,000...and a lot of knowledge and skill, of course.

The book was grouped by rooms (kitchen, bedroom, etc.) as opposed to the show, which highlights multiple rooms in the same house. I prefer the show’s set-up, although I understand why it made sense for the book to be set up the way it is.

All in all, very inspirational...makes me want to paint!

The designers were a bit repetetive. You were left in no doubt that they liked box valances and chandeliers, not to mention candles and flowers and neutral colors and fireplaces. it was weird how every place they did seemed to have a fireplace somewhere. I didn't think they were that much of a regular feature in houses. and if not, why the disproportionate amount in the series? more drama for them, I guess. It was not as relevant for someone living in a rental property, like myself, but good advice if I ever have a house that I want to sell and make good money.

I should have read this one more carefully--I don't have the hottest property on the block--yet.

This book had lots of really good ideas, but I wonder how realistic the added value the customers received really were.
