This is an excellent introduction to both the hazel and edible dormice from their basic habits and ecology to their legal protection and dilemmas they cause homeowners and developers (particularly the latter). Morris has a lot of experience with both species, more so the hazel dormice where he has pioneered survey techniques and research projects that are now used across the country. Best of all, this is an easy read that can be enjoyed by anyone, not just those of us who work (or try to work) with dormice. I can see me referring back to this one on a very regular basis (at least until I have the whole lot memorized!).
