A funny thing happened to me while I was reading this (and listening to this as well I should add). I think that after you have gotten past the first several books in a series like this, you kind of have an expectation in your mind how things are going to go:
*Something bad happens in the world
*Someone tasks Agent Zero and/or his friends to try to solve/fix/rescue whatever the problem is
*Lots of crazy things happen with lots of action
*Agent Zero and team save the day
I'm not knocking this at all. I LOVE this series (I AM reading book 10 in this particular series so that should say something right there) But...I went into this book cold with no idea what to expect - except the normal things listed above. Boy did this one knock me on my butt.
I don't want to ruin this for anyone else, so I'm not going to give out any spoilers, but let's just say that for this book - you need to throw out my list. I was completely not expecting what happened to happen, and because of that.......well, like I mentioned before...it threw me. And while I was off balance, I was just hanging on as Zero kind of fell off the rails. So, this one was a bit of a different book. It added a bit of increased anxiety as I was emotionally spent along with Zero.
It was nice to see the girls (Mischa and Maya at least) find some common ground, but I have to admit, this thing with Sara is driving me crazy. I'm really having a hard time with the believability factor of a 17 year old girl with no "official" training doing and honestly, just thinking she can do, the things that she has been doing recently. I don't like it and it can not end well. At least Maya has the training (and Mischa too for that matter) to add the believability factor to all of this. Sara just comes across as a spoiled brat who is hurting and acting out, but with violence. I have a hard time believing this young girl can ride by her past victims (which are ALL grown men) ON HER BICYCLE and they tremble in their boots just seeing her. Seriously? Okay, rant done...it just really bothers me.
So, I guess this is the end of a particular story arc yet the beginning of another one as it looks like the search is going to be on to find Kraus. And maybe, just maybe it will be a family affair. We will see.

Jack Mars can keep you safely ensconced in your seat, happily turning pages; or listening for hours as he unfolds another thriller with Reid Lawson, aka Agent Zero, at the center of it.
In Vengeance Zero, Agent Zero is out to track down a terrorist cell that has captured a highly visible "icon" of America. If that is not challenging enough, Zero is being targeted by an assassin. The assassin misses his mark, but wounds Zero in a way few things could. Now Zero is on the hunt for two culprits . . . and with vengeance on his mind.
One reviewer described this book as "unputdownable" -- that's not too far off the mark. Mars does a splendid job of bringing his characters along, including Lawson's now three daughters, Maya, Sara, and Mischa. We also see his band of brothers break up, and stay on the edge of our seats to find out if his best friend can survive a hard hit one more time.
My recommendation:
The Agent Zero series won't change your life, but it might keep you from a good night's sleep or keep you going on an overnight drive --that is what "unputdownable" does to you.
Mars' title tells you all you need to know about Agent Zero's philosophy of "justice." It's vengeance. That's sad, but not unusual for this genre.

I truly enjoyed this chapter in the life of Agent Zero in his latest blockbuster adventure. Seemingly on a high with finally getting married to Maria all seems to be going well and coupled with the doctor's prognosis of a procedure that may help Zero cure or at least slow the deterioration of his brain function, life is finally not handing him a curve ball. That is until it all comes crashing down around him while he and Maria are on their honeymoon. Now on a quest, Zero alienates almost all of his friends to seek revenge. This coupled with his need to find a kidnapped former president has Zero almost at the end of his rope. A high energy thriller that Zero fans will certainly not be disappointed by. Mars has certainly succeeded with this release.

Agent Zero is on his honeymoon when something unbelievable happens. Now he must seek revenge and not only find the murderer but he has to save the US from a terrorist attack. Unbeknownst to him his 2 daughters and one step daughter join the fray. The outcome could be bad for all of them but somehow it works.

Tons of action and new characters. Some are brought in from previous books. Lots of changes. Book ends very sober and anticlimactic. Cannot wait for Zero Zero but more the changes with the family dynamics.
