In my opinion this is not a story you can read as an illustrated version.
It was really confusing and some chapters stopped abruptly without any reason.
I stopped reading the book, when I was completely confused and lost my interest in it.

Probably gonna read the normal book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The 2 Stars are for the Graphic Novel Adaptation, and not for Christie's story!!

The comic strips are beautiful and smooth. However, they can be confusing at times for those reading MOE for the first time.

So, just read the book first, then enjoy these lovely art adaptations.

This got an extra star for the ending, otherwise it would've been 3.5 stars rounded up to a 4.

This is my first Agatha Christie book, and I feel like I'm cheating since it's a graphic novel. But I still enjoyed it. Excellent ending.

Well done, but I lost track and had to back track to work the next picture out a few times. Maybe it's just because I dont read comic type books often.

Although I much prefer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's writing style over that of Agatha Christie, I cannot deny that it did provide a bit of a surprising plot twist. Even so, when put side by side to Sherlock Holmes' observation powers, I still believe that Poirot is miles behind. Moreover, 'guessing' doesn't stand a chance against deductive reasoning, as is specific to Sherlock.

The ending seems appropriate for such a story type, despite the fact that it seems most surreal and implausible and doesn't exactly provide a healthy view of justice.

All in all, an entertaining addition to any home library.

One must credit François Rivière and his English editor David Brawn in presenting Agatha Christie's classic novel in 46 pages - and with stirring and dramatic illustrations by Solidor - nothing is lost and Hercule Poirot (not the American dress designer Paul Poiret as one of the passengers suggested!) does his usual meticulous investigations to unmask the person who has committed the murder.

The train is stuck in the snow, the maître d' (if I may call him that) of the Orient Express asks Poirot to solve the mystery 'before the Yugoslavian police starts poking its nose into the private lives of my passengers' and Poirot agrees. And thus begins his interrogations of each and every passenger, many of whom seem to have a motive to have committed the murder, begins.

And so the investigation goes on until Poirot has made up his mind and, as is his wont, gathers them all together to announce the denouement. The illustrations are dramatic but occasionally the various artistic layouts sometimes lead to a mix-up in continuity (easily solved on a re-red of the relevant panels) - it did for me anyway!

A nice addition to any Agatha Christie collection.

The comic version of Murder on the Orient Express is very good and excellent if you are new to Christie and want to get a flavour of the her work without committing to the original novel.

It was Agatha Christie's birthday just a couple of days ago, so it seemed appropriate to read something from her imagination and I also needed a graphic novel for an autumn book bingo that I am trying to participate in! 😉
Murder on the Orient Express is probably Christie's most famous novel with Hercule Poirot, and there are loads of movies and tv shows and outlets. I have read the book some time ago, I also have seen the episode in Hercule Poirot (portrayed by the amazing David Suchet) TV show but it's my first time to read an Agatha Christie graphic novel! 😆
Unfortunately I did not enjoy it as much as her books because it was a very slim and watered-down version of a great murder mystery... 😔 I'll give some credit to the great art style, at least this gave something extra to it... 🎨

The art was nice (if a little uninspired) but this book doesn't really work as a stand alone. The story lacks a clear narrative flow — the sudden time skips and shifts in narration felt jarring and interrupted the natural progression of the mystery. I’ve read the original novel many times and even I had a hard time keeping up. This would really only work as an add-on to the novel or film adaptation — without any additional context it just doesn't hold up.

I had high hopes going into this adaptation. The writing was ok but the outdated art was the big let down of this project. A little bit of remastering work could bump this up to a 4 stars for me.

I love Sherlock Holmes, just enjoy the character, his precise skits and the crazy figure that minimizes the story all around.

But I didn't have a book of Holmes, so I took another.
I was in a mood for an old-fashioned thriller. I wanted a steam train, a severe lack of political correctness, a gallery of circus figures that included counties and princesses, and an old-style detective with no too fucked-up life that interrogates and finally explains to the public the way he came to the solution. All this and more I have found here, in this flawed and fun thriller that, though written decades ago, was amusing and surprising to me, and at the end, it was interrupted in a moment when a great moral stench rose from it and challenged me, mainly because I agreed with it unconditionally.

It was a pleasure, but I still prefer Sherlock Holmes.

This was all going really well until we got to the over simplified and rushed ending. The whole point is that it's supposed to be a challenge for Poirot because of his obligation to justice and also his obligation to his human instincts. I would liked to have seen an extra ten pages added to explore this.

Murder on the Orient Express is a book that involves a detective named Hercule Poirot to solve a murder case on a train that is stuck in a snowstorm. He had to overcome many obstacles to solve the murder and he was limited to what he could use because he was not able to get out of the train. He would solve a clue that one of the passengers gave to him and he would connect it to the other passengers, but the clues that the all of the passengers gave to him fit together even though there was a person on the train that killed a man. He was able to find multiple conclusions and gathered all the passengers in a room and he told them what the conclusions were but he was wrong. Did the murderer escape, was the murderer male or female or was the murderer all of the passengers.

This is the graphic novel adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, featuring the infamous Hercule Poirot. The story occurs on a train, where a bizarre murder intrigues Poirot. Multiple, differing stab wounds, an excess of clues that lead to no where and do not seem to fit any particular culprit, and a carriage full of possible suspects. Poirot is forced to interrogate all of the strange characters travelling with him, while the train is stuck due to an unexpected snow storm.

I was not super thrilled with this interpretation. While the art was well drawn, I felt it was quite generic, with no real oomph or originality. Which, I think this adaptation truly deserved, as one of the quintessential Christie novels.

This is the English edition of a French graphic novel based on an English novel featuring a French-speaking Belgian and his French acquaintance... So the language gets a bit confusing at times! Also, due to the nature of the book, the story is presented as snapshots without smooth transitions, which makes it a bit hard to follow at times. Fortunately, having read the original novel several times helped me keep up. This being said, overall, I thought that putting Christie’s novels in graphic form is a fun exercise, and I might check out more books from this series eventually.

This book is very different from the other detective books that I've read. While most of the detective books only have one or just a few killer, this book is totally different. The killer is revealed to be a collective effort orchestrated by all the passengers on the train. Each passenger has a connection to the Armstrong family and seeks justice for the murder of Daisy Armstrong. Hercule Poirot, the detective investigating the case, discover the truth behind the murder that it was everyone was the killer.

Who thought you could put the whole story in around sixty pages of illustrations? Some details were new to me, so I am not sure if I just didn't notice or if some things were changed for this comic. But anyway. I really enjoyed it and it was quick read for my "Adventures Through Wonderland" readathon.

I found it confusing even though I'm already familiar with the story lol. I agree with reviews stating it changed abruptly without indicating any passage of time. It particularly seemed to change during conversations and suddenly Hercule was talking to a completely different person and you didn't know until two frames later.

A detective investigates a murder committed on a train.

I thought this retelling of a classic murder mystery (the original is well known and a very strong story) was good, but the graphics and narrative layout could have been better.

I read the stage play of this and loved the adaptation. Although I thought the illusion of suicide was a little too dark for this time, I was on edge trying to figure out who was the murderer and quite surprised at the twist at the end.

I think the historical context is very exciting, in the time when there were no clue looking at the fingerprints., deductions and clues are more difficult to be made. I like how the story is set up on a train. However i like serial murder cases, it'd be more exciting.

It was a really good book, it was a bit confusing just with all of the details and the amount of characters, but it was overall really good, and I totally called it not even half way through the book, so that was fun.

A decent, if quick adaptation of the novel by Agatha Christie. The art is fresh and bright and seems to fit the time period and tone of the novel well. I would recommend this to Agatha Christie fans and anyone who might be interested in reading Christie but can't commit to a full novel or one of the myriad of TV and film adaptations.

I have not read a lot of Agatha Christie and I was interested to read this one. It is very.... classically detective and does not pretend to be anything else. The ending I found VERY odd.
