Kairi and Momo are off to college, leaving Sae lonely while she repeats her last year of high school, but her mind is still not on her studies when she becomes jealous of others and tries to find her own perfect boyfriend.
Miwa Ueda become mangaka in 1985 with Momoiro Biyaku (Peach Colored Elixer). The pinnacle of her career was in 1999, when she won the award for best shōjo manga's publisher Kodansha with Peach Girl.
Miwa Ueda abandoned this series and it was clear why. There was no love or passion in this project, and the story suffered from it. Sae is a complex character, looking for love in all the wrong places. This time it's Shinji. He's into cars and apparently Sae...for a hot second. She works 16 hour shifts for a week with Sharu just to pay off the car debt for Shinji. But he fears she's into an elaborate lifestyle he can't compete with and breaks her heart. Oh and Momo and Kiley and Sharu make Sae birthday cakes cause everyone forgets about her every year. So many missed opportunities and so many open plotlines that are unresolved due to Ueda's lack of motivation for this series. I can finally put Peach Girl to bed though.
Sae got a better ending than she deserved. She didn’t really change in the end. I’m glad I never have to read her character again—I don’t think I’ll be able to sit through Peach Girl NEXT.
I'm happy Sae broke up with that jerk. I thought he was just using her the whole for her money and I believe I'm right. I wished it would've ended better for Sae though. She'll find her love one day or end up with Saru like I'm hoping.

For this being the final volume it felt rather lacking. I can honestly see why this series probably wasn't a big hit and ended at only 3 volumes. Sae just isn't the type to be a main character focus in a romance manga, it just doesn't work. Sadly the bonus story in this volume was a miss as well.
Was a bit disappointed. I was hoping for more of an ending. And this other dude was a total dumbass. He claimed that she was high maintenance when he goes out and buys a fancy car with her money. What an idiot.
