Following a devastating battle with the hunters, Garrick Elliott and Cailean Phoenix struggle to fill the void left in their pack. Without Aldric’s guidance, the young wolves must learn to control the beasts within; but in the wake of Garrick’s recent discoveries, new challenges begin to surface. As the pack strives to manage their lycanthropy, Garrick questions whether their healing potential outweighs the curse itself. Meanwhile, Cailean searches for a way to compensate for the power lost with his father. Now, with their clashing leadership styles, the brotherly bond which Garrick and Cailean have formed is strained as they learn to embrace their new roles as Alphas.
Alphas capitalized in every way needed as a sequel. The characters growth was not only natural but rewarding, I found myself rooting for both of dual leads even when they had opposite views. Continuing to emphasize humanity in a supernatural realm, we see the characters growth through their trials, but also learn the things they can’t grow out of or let go, and where that takes each of them. I was terrified, and excited, to learn what some people may not be able to “control” from within them.
