All it takes to change everything is an enraged woman and a dare…

Love is not for me. Nope. I don’t deserve it, so I keep far, far away from relationships.

Archer – a drifter who won’t stick around – is perfect for me. I can touch those sexy broad shoulders and stare into those smoldering hazel eyes to my heart’s content.

Except, it turns out Archer isn’t Archer at all. He’s Cedar. He’s not some random drifter. He grew up in the quirky small town of Winter Falls.

When I find out the truth, my rage boils over, my mouth opens up, and before my mind can catch up, I’m daring Cedar to stay in Winter Falls for six months.

I must have been temporarily insane.

Because the longer Cedar sticks around, the more my feelings for him grow. And pushing him away is about as easy as getting the eccentric townspeople to respect my privacy.

Especially when he keeps drawing me in, claiming he’s going to prove to me I not only deserve love but everything my heart desires. Easy for him to say. He doesn’t know what I did.

Can a dare spoken in a moment of anger result in my happily ever after?

This friends with benefits small town romantic comedy features a woman who’s convinced her past sins means she doesn’t deserve love, a man who’s willing to give up his wanderer ways to prove her wrong, an adorable three-legged dog, a pair of sisters who don’t understand the word ‘privacy’, and a whole town of hippies convinced they’re the best matchmakers this side of the Mississippi.

If you are looking for a steamy romantic comedy, look no further than this author, especially the Winter Falls series.

There are two different Winter Falls series. One features the West sisters, and this new series features the Dempsey sisters. In this one, we get to know Cassandra Dempsey. She has some baggage that you will discover, and it takes a lot of convincing before she doesn't hold herself responsible for some things in the past. We also meet Cedar, Rowan's younger brother. We actually meet him as Archer first. Cedar is a bit of a nomad or has been for most of his life due to some baggage in his past.

This book is a little different from the others. We don't see the gossip girls as much in this book. I, for one, was glad to see them have a much smaller role. They can be a bit over the top with their betting and matchmaking. They mean well and add some humor to the story, but after seven previous books, it was time for a slight breather from them. We also see the town take a more minor role in the book, and the relationship between Cedar and Cassandra is front and center.

I still love the concept of Winter Falls and its carbon-neutral stance. The townsfolk care about each other, despite their inability to stay out of everyone else's business, and they seem to have a good time. The West and Dempsey sisters are still a bit crazy and tend to pull pranks on one another, but deep down, they have each other's back and will protect their family to the bitter end.

We also get our first look at Olivia Dempsey. Her story is coming next, but so many questions are swirling around in my head, wondering what her story is.

The book kept me chuckling, and the pages were a bit spicy. But it is enjoyable all the same, and I know I'll be sad with the next book that will wrap up the Dempsey sisters series.

We give this book 4 1/2 paws up.

Are you ready for a brand new romantic comedy about a woman who thinks she can keep the man she’s falling for at arm’s length with a ‘friend with benefits’ arrangement and how her plan goes marvelously awry? Mwa ha ha!

This story has all of my favorite things:
✔️ A woman who thinks she doesn’t deserve love
✔️ A man who lies about his identity (he claims it was a mistake ☹)
✔️ A woman carrying around a boatload of guilt
✔️ A man who can’t resist a dare especially since the dare coincides with his plans
✔️ A dog named Diva who’s adorable regardless of her missing ear and leg
✔️ A mysterious hermit who decides to try his hand in matchmaking
✔️ A gang of elderly matchmakers determined to push the two together
✔️ Quirky small town romance

Favorite Quotes:

I don’t know what man would put up with that woman. She’s a maneater. I fear for the life of any man she sinks her claws into. She probably has a trophy room at home containing the hearts of any man foolish enough to date her.

Who thought it was a good idea to merge the West and Dempsey families? There’s now a total of eight women. I grew up with three sisters. The four of us never agreed on a thing. I don’t know how five West daughters and three Dempsey sisters are going to manage to agree on a wedding dress or bridesmaids’ dresses.

My Review:

I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did as the main character of Cassie is a piece of work, impulsive, rebellious, stubborn, selfish, immature, and a drama llama. But I adored Cedar! The writing was breezy and amusing, and the storylines were deliciously smirk-worthy, easy to follow, active, and well-paced.

Cassandra has been a hard character for me to like. She is too nosy, too pushy, too stubborn. But her story, her conviction that she didn’t deserve love, was powerful. Cassie and Cedar (aka Archer) had a lot of similar fears and dealt with them in similar ways - she by having only one-night stands so her feelings were never engaged and him by being a rolling stone and never coming home. They had a bumpy road to being together. I shed many tears over this story but enjoyed it very much. Like all her other books, I read Ms. Haggerty’s book almost as soon as I got it and all in one gulp.

Loved this double failure to commit angsty romantic comedy set in the midst of a nosy, free-spirited town. The character development is divine and the romantic comedy superb! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Some people are just not destined to couple up and settle down, this is what Cassie Dempsey tells herself and for the most part she is perfectly happy with her life choices, especially seeing as this means she gets to enjoy all the perks of being with nomad Archer without any of the tangled commitment… that is until Cassie learns that Archer is actually Cedar an old Winter Falls resident that just can’t seem to stay in one place for to long. Annoyed about being lied to Cassie acts before thinking and dares Cedar to stay in town for six months…she just never factored in Cedar pushing his way past all her carefully placed walls. Between the nosey towns folks and her growing feelings for Cedar, Cassie has to wonder if this could be her chance at forever?

..

I can not say this enough Winter Falls is a town after my own heart! This place is quirky, cute and filled with nosey towns people that I just can’t get enough of! Meet Dare was the perfect combination of two commitment phobic people unable to help but fall in love with each other, this book was both angsty and adorable at the same time and I loved every moment.

..

I will say at first I wasn’t to sure if I would like Cassie, after all she has always been the most pushy and nosey sibling but gosh once we got to know her it was hard not to root her on, especially after hearing about her past and why she felt unworthy of her own happily ever after. I don’t want to give away too much on her story but what I will say was that it was powerful and really hit home the fact that hearing only snippets of a convo can be dangerous. As for our hero Cedar well he was pretty much a mirror to Cassie, they both had similar fears and went about dealing with them the same way, which is what made them all the more perfect for each other. For the most part these two stood in their own way of happiness but never fear the meddlesome residents of Winter Falls are on the case and helped give these two a much needed push.

..

As much as I loved the witty banter and the steamy romance between Cassie and Cedar, I loved the deeper more meaningful moments just much. This book had me tearing up at one moment and them giggling silly the next! Meet Dare is a total must read! If you haven’t read the other books in this series then you really need to asap!

D.E. Haggerty has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Cassandra and Archer. Cassandra is a bartender at the White Stag bar and she is having trouble with a customer. The man won't take no for an answer. She walks away from him and goes to wait on another customer. The man giving her trouble comes down to where she is and pushes his way to her. She tells him that they have nothing to say to each other and they are done. He tells her that they aren't done until he said they are. The man she was waiting on asked if he needed to take care of the guy for her. She decides that she needs to take her break and goes out back. When she comes back in, the guy giving her a hard time is there waiting on her. He starts talking to her and she tells him that they are done and he said they are done when he said they were done. He points a finger at her and she grabs it and bends it back. The guy yells out in pain. She tells him that he had no right to touch her when he was told no. They have a few words and his buddies finally come and take him away after she tells him that if he doesn't leave her alone she would call the cops. The guy leaves with his buddies and the other guy asked "Would it be okay if I asked if you were alright without you biting my head off?" She tells him only if asked to. They introduce themselves as Cassandra and Archer. They go to her apartment and sleep together and she thinks it is just one night. Archer is still there the next day when she wakes up. Archer doesn't expect to feel the way he does about Cassandra. He was not expecting he wanted to stay in town but she makes him want to. They start seeing each other and something happens that causes her to make a bet with him to stay in town for six months. They have their ups and downs where they break up and get back together again. At the end of the bet, she is expecting him to say he is leaving but when he tells her he isn't going anywhere, she doesn't believe him and tells him they are done.

Will Archer get Cassandra to believe him about staying for good?

Will they get back together for good?

This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Another standalone story in D E Haggerty's "Winter Falls - Dempsey sisters" series, I would seriously suggest reading the series in sequence to get the best enjoyment.

I love Winter Falls, the eco friendly town with it's quirky inhabitants, where the gossip girls wear pink sweaters to do their matchmaking, anyone is fair game, where there are no secrets……….or are there ?

Cassandra is a Dempsey, she and her sisters Elizabeth and Gabriella and their brother Becket live in Winter Falls, no one knows where Olivia is. Elizabeth, Gabriella and Becket are all loved up with adoring partners, Cassie doesn't want that, she is a love em and leave em kind of girl, she doesn't deserve to be loved, she doesn't want commitment, until……… Archer Hansley walks into her life, but he isn't Archer, he lied to her, he is really Cedar.

Cedar along with his brother Rowan were raised in Winter Falls, Rowan was to become an NFL quarterback whilst Cedar was just a maths geek. Cedar left Winter Falls as soon as he was able, there was nothing there for him, he was a nomad, travelling the country, never staying long in one place, could Cassie be the one to cure his itchy feet ?

This story follows the rocky path to Cedar and Cassie falling in love, both had their demons to face but with the extended family (which includes all the residents of Winter Falls) pushing them how could they fail to fall in love.

This is a very witty, tongue in cheek book about the kooky people who live in Winter Falls, once a hippy commune and retaining it's hippy values, I can't wait to hear Olivia and Peaces story.

Book 3 of the Winter Falls - Dempsey Sisters Story.

Cassandra Dempsey is fiercely independent, and refuses to use any family money left to her, following the death of her parents several years earlier.

She’s working at a bar in White Bridge, where her family lives, and meets a man who gives his name as “Archer” as he intervenes when she is being harassed by a pushy customer who won’t take no for an answer.

Archer is somewhat of a recluse, preferring his own company rather than larger gatherings. He lives in a mobile tiny home in the forest around Winter Falls, having moved there without telling his brother Rowan, as his tendency is to keep moving every so often.

Cassie and Archer are drawn to each other, but neither want a committed relationship, but struggle to stay uncommitted.

It’s very much an on/off situation between them, as neither are totally open and honest about their feelings.

There are plenty of laughs to be had, and plenty of steamy romance, and fans of the Winter Falls series will recognise the various characters, such as The Gossip Girls, the West Sisters, and the Dempsey Sisters (and Brother), along with the Alston brothers, and won’t be disappointed, as they all make a return in this story, sticking their noses in and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

I’m looking forward to Book 4 now!

This is another great Winter Falls story. Winter Falls is an environmentally green town established by hippies and full of very quirky characters. Cassandra (Cassie) has been working as the manager of the bar in Winter Falls. She’s trying to decide whether to buy the bar and put down roots. In prior books, her brother and two sisters fell in love in Winter Falls, so their family is settling down. Cassie avoids relationships. She has a one-night stand a hot man who she meets at the bar, who she believes is transient. Archer (who turns out to be named Cedar) actually grew up in Winter Falls. Cedar doesn’t stay in one place very long, lives in a tiny house on wheels, and has only planned to visit Winter Falls briefly to visit his brother, sister-in-law and his new baby niece. Both Cassie and Cedar have baggage, between Cassie’s commitment issues and Cedar’s transient lifestyle. With lots of help and interference from their families and the quirky residents of Winter Falls, this couple eventually get to a HEA. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, their romance won’t be as good or make as much sense unless the other books have been read in order. Like the preceding books, this story has humor, some hot sex, character development and a happy ending. It’s another satisfying romance in a fun series and is recommended. While the Romance between Cedar and Cassandra, starts outside Winter Falls the main part of the the takes place in this quirky environmental friendly small town.

Winter Falls is where every one both bets on any thing and everything and the other hobby is gossip and the group of woman called the Gossip Girls not only gossip more than everyone else also have a the role of matchmaking throughout the town.

While I did enjoy Meet Dare with the story giving the usual happiness from a romance novel, I am a little unhappy that the story never really reached the heights from D.E. Haggerty’s writing normally achives.

For me this was mainly because I felt the angst which both Cedar and Cassandra, brought to the relationship mainly felt just a little over the top for me. Not that the couples had any angst but while Cassandra’s I can see having an effect on her, but would not the rest of the family Know the about what she is worried about.

As for Cedar his issues where over the top and it feels like even the writer may have throught so, by how easy he seemed to get over the problem.

Having said that with Meet Dare being a Small town romance novel their has to be some issues which could have an affect on the relationship between Cassandra and Cedar, as well as being samll enough to be easily solvable, which in this case they do meat that mark.

All this makes Meet Dare (Winter Falls ~ Dempsey Sisters: Book 3) by D.E. Haggerty an enjoyable small town romance.

Cassandra is one of the Dempsey sisters that we have met in the earlier Winter Falls series. She is incredibly hard working, loves her family dearly and a good prank almost as much. She has also been living with guilt over something she did not do and these feelings have prevented her from having any chance at love. Because the thinks she is unworthy of love her adult life has been a series of one night stands until she meets Archer.

Cedar is Rowan's brother and has lived a nomad life for a decade after a misunderstanding with his family. He left Winter Falls right after high school and has only returned temporarily to celebrate the birth of Rowan's first child. Cedar lives in a tiny house on wheels that can be transported wherever he decides to go next but a chance encounter at a bar has him rethinking his next move.

Cassandra meets Cedar who introduces himself as Archer (his full name is Cedar Archer Hansley) these two who have never believed in settling down start an unlikely relationship. Name confusion ensues and Cedar has to work to get her back.

This story has the usual cast of characters with the Gossip Gals, West sisters and their partners, Dempsey sisters and their partners and the rest of the town. Cassandra will drive you crazy and leave you rooting for her at the same time.

MEET DARE By D.E. Haggerty

What starts off as a one night stand for Cass turns into a friend with benefits with a drifter Archer aka Cedar.

😊What i liked -

✔ Friends With Benefits/Small Town/Rom-com.
✔ Oh man Haggerty doesn't fail to hit the mark at all. I really thought revolving a story with the same town and the same characters might feel repetitive, but nope i was proven wrong.
✔ I always found Cass to be an interesting character since she was first introduced. She is sassy, crass, strong yet vulnerable. She does sometimes come off as rude but she isn't.
✔ I absolutely loved Cedar as a character. He is so cute and swoony.
✔ I laughed my a** off with every Cedar and Beckett's confrontations.
✔ And obviously the review is incomplete without the mention of my favourite Gossip Gals and the West Sisters, they are a loony lot. With them around you are surely to be entertained.
✔ If you want laughs, swoon, craziness and cute spice then this is the book for you.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ I wanted moreeee.

A part of me feels like this series was just extended too long but binge reading the whole thing in days is definitely my own fault too. This book is not favorite of the series by far.

Pros: Cedar is my favorite of all the MMCs in this series. We see a more logical and determined feet sweeping than any of the other guys tried to pull off. (Cole is only slightly edged into second place. He did try)

Cons: the logic for Cassie's fears are unfounded/illogical. We start to see too many threads popping up for additional books (Eden specifically drops up early and often but isn't the next installment of the series) but the depth is lacking for the FMC in the current book. I like Cassie slightly but I don't love her because her background is a couple random mentions (fire fear, teaching degree, sudden urge to mix drinks?) with only the one irrational thought driving her personality. I want to see more Mercury; he's too important to the town for the minor pop-up he gets later in the series. We don't learn what get Lennon won/lost. Over protective Beckett is boring. He's not helping anyone and only makes me dislike him for Lilac when he crops up being a jerk.

Another visit to my favourite place,Winter Falls and the Dempsey sister's.

It is Cassandra and Cedar's story.

They are instantly attracted to each other and have a one night stand.

Cassandra doesn't do relationships and Cedar doesn't stay in one place for long.

It works out perfectly for them until it doesn't.

Cedar lied to Cassandra and told her he was Archer and when she finds out she is furious with him and she issues a dare in her anger that he will not be able to stay in one place for 6 months.

Problem the longer he stays the more chances of her falling in love with him and she doesn't think she deserves love because of her past.

Cedar wants to prove to her that she deserves everything.

Then as usual the whole town gets involved.A fun emotional read with lots of the humour ,wonderful characters, quirky residents of Winter Falls and a sweet happily ever after.

Absolutely looking forward to Olivia's story.

Every single book that I read that takes place in Winter Falls just reminds me how much I love D.E. Haggerty's characters and storylines. Cassie and Archer's story does not disappoint. Cassandra's family is all up in her business - no one more than big brother Beckett! and Archer's big brother and sister-in-law just can't leave him be. Throw it all together and you get steam and laughter and despair, and all of the quirky busy bodies in town that can't stay out of their business but at the crux of the story are two individuals trying to outrun the negatives thoughts in their heads that make them feel unworthy of all the goodness that love and family can bring them.

I've read all of the stories about the West girls and all so far of the Dempsey Sisters and have loved each and every one of them. I'm sad that after this one, there will only be one more Dempsey sister's story and as soon as that one is available I know I'll love Olivia's story as much as all the rest!

Another amazing book by D.E. Haggerty!
I loved both series. The West sisters and Dempsey Sisters.
This is a cute small town romance with some spice thrown in. Archer/Cedar and Cassandra are the lastest victims of the towns matchmakers. I was a little disappointed that the gossip gals didn't make much appearance in this book. Those gals are the best characters lol.
So these two start off as a one night stand that developed into a friends with benefits situation. In this book Cedar develops feelings first and slowly tries to show Cassie (nickname in book) who thinks she's not allowed to love. Won't spoil that for anyone. Read to find out why.
It's a struggle for poor Cedar but the book does end with a HEA.
These two grow in the book together, which I love seeing a great development between characters. It wasn't forced but a natural development over time. You also get to meet all the characters from Winter Falls, which is also amazing. The dynamics between all these characters helps build a great story.
Make sure you read in order starting with the West Sisters.

🏘Yours, mine and ours: family to the nth!🤔

3-3.5🌟 stars
Other readers may find this story humorous and whimsical, with siblings in a small, ecologically-minded community arguing and pranking each other and matchmakers roaming the town robbing courting couples of their privacy.

Meet Dare has a lot of family and locals almost always present to interfere or at least provide their two cents about Cassie and Archer/Cedar's relationship. For me, it's a bit too much to keep track of. A crowded slate of characters and their relationships to each other to untangle: I guess had I read the earlier stories in the series I would have found it easier to remember who's paired with whom and part of which family.

I also found Cassie a bit of a hard heroine to connect with. Cedar puts up with her angst, anger and stubbornness: rather him than me!

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Meet Dare is the third book in the Dempsey Sisters series and takes place in Winter Falls. If you've read the Winter Falls series you'll recognize those characters but it isn't necessary to read since this book stands well on its own. Cassie doesn't do relationships she believes that she doesn't deserve love. Cedar has spent years wandering from place to place never putting down roots after he left Winter Falls. When he hooks up with Cassie he knows he'd do anything to have a relationship with Cassie. They dare each other, Cassie to commit to adopting a dog and Cedar to stay in Winter Falls for six months. Cedar has six month to convince commitment-phobe Cassie that he's staying for good and to give their relationship a chance. Steamy, emotional, funny, gotta love the residents of Winter Falls. Can't wait to read Olivia's story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

We are back in Winter Falls to my utter delight! I couldn't wait to dive into this one. Cassie and Cedar had me gobbling up the pages. Cassie always seemed like there was something holding her back and explained why she had a little 'tude. I couldn't have picked anyone as perfect as Cedar for her. Man he has to work for a bit, but like he mentions throughout the book he is a patient man. Both of them are little broken, but you can tell they will heal one another. They fit like puzzle pieces. Cassie and Cedar have undeniable chemistry that burns up the pages. Sometimes throughout this book I wanted to shake some sense into Cassie. Diva lived up to her name and is so cute! I just love getting reacquainted with the Dempsey and West clans along with the other townsfolk. This book had the humor that I love and expect from this series. I was chuckling throughout the whole book. I loved the tease for the next book! It's going to be very interesting.

I love every book set in this quirky town! At this point we've met so many characters that it's like going to a reunion getting to meet up with them again in subsequent books. But the star of the show is always the soon to be couple we are getting to know in the story. Although this book can be read as a stand alone you gain so much more from past knowledge of the minor characters.

Cassie and Cedar Archer both feel undeserving of love due to childhood incidents. Cassie only allows herself one night stands. Archer lives in a tiny house on wheels that he relocates every few months. They first get together thinking that it's temporary so they can bend their rules but before long they each realize that there's something more to their relationship.

This is the 3rd book in the Winter Falls- Dempsey Sisters series and it is Cassandra’s story. Cassie believes she doesn’t deserve to be loved because in her heart she feels responsible for her parents death. Cassie is working in a bar when this jerk is trying to get handsy with her and in comes a sexy stranger wanting to help her. Cassie can take care of herself but what a looker this stranger is. Archer is his name and she starts friends with benefits with him. I loved that he lived in a tiny house.

Archer brings a lot of baggage also to this relationship, he thinks his folks didn’t want him. Is this the next relationship the gossip gals are working on? This series is a fun read with the gossip gals, the green town and the family issues.

The more I read about Winter Falls, the more I am convinced it is a real town! The people have unique personalities. Its fun to read about Winter Falls through the eyes of a non-local because you learn more about the town and the locals.

This story we follow Dempsey sister, Cassie. A current outsider who finds herself in Winter Falls more often than she expected. Her personality was a little much for me, though she kind of has her reasons. She carries a lot of guilt on her shoulders that none of her family knows about.

Then you got Archer who carries his own secret about why he became a wanderer.

They both are good for each other because they help each other realize things they can’t see for themselves.

Though I enjoyed this book, I’m glad that I’m finished with it because Cassie exhausted me.

Meet Dare by D.E Haggerty

I was looking forward to Cassandras' story. In the previous books in the series, she seemed to be the most intriguing of the Dempsey sisters, sassy, independent, and strong. Cedar Archer Hansley was a mysterious wanderer, and when the gossip gals decided to match them, I was excited! But this book is written in a more serious tone, not as funny and light as I expected. Cassandra and Cedar both have deep traumas that keep them from pursuing love, and the story concentrates on their relationship. There is not as much focus on the quirky characters of the hippie town of Winter Falls as there was in previous books. But I loved the book nonetheless. It's different but in a good way.

Cassandra. What can I say about her! I didn't think I would like her story whatsoever as her abrasive, antagonistic attitude drove me nuts since we first met her. I get it now though. There were still a few times I wanted to smack her but my heart bled for her. It was hard not to fall in love and want to give her a big ole hug. To carry all that guilt around for so long. It will change a person!

Cedar was the perfect man to show her she has been wrong all this time. Even while he deals with his own demons. He is sweet, charming, compassionate and hot as heck to boot!

Seeing these two heal each others wounds made for a beautiful story. The crazy antics of Winter Falls and all the laughs a long the way made for a perfect story!

Third in the series about the Dempsey sisters, this book is populated with the same quirky characters as the previous books including the West sisters from the previous series. She thinks she doesn’t deserve love and he never stays anywhere very long. But they can’t seem to fight the attraction. Until she finds out who he really is. They finally get their HEA after some turmoil and we get the set up for the next sister. Good fun reading with just the right amount of sexy times. I recommend this book especially if you enjoy a little humor in your reading.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Book Sirens and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

Cassandra “Cassie” Dempsey doesn’t believe she deserves love so she has one night stands. She meets Archer and has more than one night with him. She finds out he’s really Cedar Archer Hansley, younger brother of Rowan. She is mad at him for lying to her. Cedar doesn’t stay in one place for long. They make a dare for each other regarding love and staying in one place. Cedar wants to have a relationship with Cassie but he has his work cut out for him trying to win him over. They have great chemistry and I enjoyed their banter. I loved all the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

CEDAR (ARCHER) AND CASSANDRA (CASSIE)

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

A nomad, Cedar, and a woman who doesn’t believe she deserves love, Cassandra. These two keep the reader wanting to read the next page to see what happens next as one or the other does something to set the other off. I loved Cedar’s tenaciousness when he decides that Cassie is the woman for him. I love how the Cassie’s sister and brother believed in her and how Beckett solved Cassie’s twenty-year dilemma as to why she didn’t deserve to be loved. Another great book in the Dempsey sisters series.
