I think this is my favourite of this entire series. Reid is EVERYTHING I adore in a male lead with his quiet confidence, impressive humour, and of course, those grey joggers he owns. *drool*
Mila is as sassy as they come in the other two books, and while we still see that side of her in RMM, it's also nice to see her uncertainty at times. To know that confident women struggle too is a blessing for us all, and the way Natasha Preston shows this without changing Mila's core character is really impressive.
But Reid? Oh my...
I sure do love him.
He's the perfect guy to shake Mila's world, and believe me, she isn't ready for it!
If you think you know what's going to happen in this, you don't, and it's well worth the journey of discovery.
This neighbours/friends to lovers romance is everything you could want right now, and it will leave you with the goofiest of smiles on your face. Preston delivers the perfect mix of romance, humour, angst, will they-won't they, and I honestly couldn't get enough. It was an honour to be able to one of the first to read this. I just wish I could have an epilogue of Reid's that goes on and on forever.
I could not have loved this book more! Mila is absolutely hilarious and so easy to relate to. Reid is the IDEAL book boyfriend. Perfect end to a perfect series (although they can all be read in a standalone). Thoroughly recommend.
I seriously don't even know where to begin this review. Lets start with YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!! Mila is quirky, straight to the point and so much fun. Reid is loving, adventurous and smart. Together they are explosive, quick witted and completely relatable.
The way Natasha uses words has you feeling like you are watching a movie. The way she describes things has me able to visualize each and every scene. I want Reids home office in my house!
Even her side charaters have such an amazing personality that make you love them just as much as the main characters. Can we just take a moment to appreciate Mila's mom and dad? Her mom is absolutely fantastic and her dad is exactly what you would want in a dad. They are perfect.
Seriously Natasha my heart can’t take this whirlwind. I have loved Mila throughout the series, her none stop chatter, her no filter and her dedication to her friends and family. Meeting Reid officially was as beautiful as I hoped it would be. A man who reads, Hot. A man who reads with abs just Wow! Together they bring excitement, laughter and tears. I really adored this story, it’s so beautiful in every way. Natasha’s fabulous way of writing draws you in immediately submerging you so deep in the world of these characters you start to see them as your friends. Cheering for them, crying with them and loving them. Another awesome book in an equally amazing series. Everyone needs to read these, go on I promise you won’t regret it 😊.
This five star read has it all -- witty banter, sizzling chemistry and a sassy heroine. What more could you want? Oh, a hot guy who reads? Yes, it has that too!
'Nothing is more beautifully painful than loving her' - Reid Walker 'His smile is wide. It makes his eyes glow. I want his face like that for the rest of forever' - Mila Thomas
Okay so I have a huge problem with this book - Reid made me doubt my love for Brody! I still can't get over it, but he really did. Reid was undoubtedly the perfect man in this book and the perfect man for Mila. Not only because of his love of books but because he knew exactly what she needed and how to handle her. The chemistry between them fired off the page and I loved that they both wanted the other to have everything that they deserved. Both of them found life hard for different reasons and I loved that Natasha showed us their failings as well as their extreme positives - Reid's abs and books in his case. Although it was a love story it was also one of discovery for both Reid and Mila and it was a pleasure to travel with them as they did so. The dialogue was quick and witty and as for the first time Reid makes a move on Mila, well that made my heart thud with anticipation. A great ending to a fantastic series, I'm just sorry that's it. Maybe one more book Natasha so I can finally make up my mind Brody or Reid?
I am a MASSIVE Natasha Preston fan who has absolutely loved reading everything she has written. Read My Mind is the third - and I’m gutted to say - and final book in this latest series of hers and I cannot express to you how incredible all three books have been from start to finish. If you have yet to read Waking up in Vegas and Just Like the Movies then do so now because you are missing out on a treat! You’ll find yourself in the company of the most amazing people and lose your heart to three of the best leading men that the author has given us. We will all have our favourite, but in my opinion, Ms Preston has left the best to last and I cannot wait for you to meet Reid Walker.
I already adored Mila before I even opened the first page of this book. She speaks her mind; has an air of confidence about her; she has the most incredible personality and also the biggest heart. If you are in her close circle of friends then you are one of the luckiest people on this planet! There is nothing that she wouldn’t do for those dear to her, and it’s lovely to see that her friends have her back too. What we witness in this book is not only the Mila that we know and love but we also a side of her that I wouldn’t have expected to see, and that only made me love her even more!
There is only one word I need to use to describe Reid and that is PERFECTION! However, let me elaborate a little - not too much though, you need to discover the man for yourself! He reads…. that in itself makes him desirable. He’s got a fabulous personality and sense of humour. He works out …. hello abs!! For everything else about this fantastic man, you are simply going to have to read this story yourself and let me tell you that you most certainly won’t be disappointed!
We are all going to want to claim Reid as our own…. you’ll find me front of the queue! I am guilty of wanting, in the majority of the books I read, for the leading characters to find their happy ever afters together, and for Mila and Reid I could instantly see just how perfect a couple they would make and so I kept my fingers crossed throughout that in the end this would happen. There isn’t anyone else out there more suited for either individual - they complement each other in every way. My favourite scenes in this story feature Mila and Reid interacting with each other and I could quite happily spend the rest of my days just watching them together.
An incredible storyline with two of the most amazing leading characters is what awaits you in Read My Mind. Add that we are back with Wren, Indie, Brody and Spencer and it’s a certainty that you’re going to love this story and be begging the author for more of the gang. I cannot not mention Mila’s family…. just wait till you meet her Mum!
I can’t recommend this book enough. This story has been brilliantly penned. What an incredible ending to an incredible series and I can definitely say that The One series is up there with my all-time favourites.
Natasha preston never, NEVER fails to transport me to another world. Another life with her words. Wether its her characters she creates or the banter she laces her chapters with. Im right there, along for the ride. Eagerly awaiting for my next adventure.
With Read My Mind, she does NOT disappoint. Its full of angst, banter and absolute craziness that is Mila Thomas. She is weirdly random in the best way. She is everything i would want in a friend. You never know what will come out of her sassy mouth.
Reid Walker. Hello you. I see you. He is full of that brooding and patient longing with a love of books that fills his gooey center. With a covering of abs. His quiet but consuming love from over the road is everything. EVERYTHING.
This book has been so well written, it has kept me on that cliff edge, ready to fall and take that leap with the characters.
"Read My Mind" is the romance novel I didn't know I'd been waiting for! A love story about two book nerds bringing out each others' wilder sides; how did I not realize this was my fantasy all along? Mila and Reid are a new best couple for me. I have never wanted a fictional book-boyfriend to be real more in my life! Reid is the hottest hero ever for any romantically-inclined book-lover like me. He's too good to be true but also so adorably human that I can imagine him living across the street from my own house. And Mila is such a fun and engaging character to read! I kept waffling between wanting her as a BFF and just wanting to be her. Add in some skinny dipping, coffee addictions, and the wittiest banter I've ever read, and you've got one phenomenally entertaining book! I can't wait to go back and read it again.
This is a lovely, warm romance from the pen of the equally lovely, Natasha Preston. Having already met Mila I was delighted that she was going to get her own book and Natasha has written her perfect partner in Reid. A delicious, intelligent, thoughtful book reader...be still my beating heart!! With the added richness of wonderful friends and family, witty banter and the budding relationship between these charming characters, I couldn't, frankly, ask for more. It has been like reading a hot chocolate with all the trimmings with an added shot of some decadent liqueur. Fabulous 💖💖💖💖💖
Last in The One series. This can be read as a standalone but will make so much more sense if you have read the other two as you will meet both these characters. Waking up in Vegas and Just Like the Movies will set the scene nicely before you read this one and you will meet another two outstanding men in Brody and Spencer. Mila Thomas is quirky and sassy. I loved how she just lets her mouth run off especially when she nervous. She was the same loony friend as in the first two books and constantly comes out with some hilarious stuff. Without a boyfriend she seems vulnerable, admits to needing to grow up but being lost and searching for something. The author develops her character so well during the book that we see her start to learn more about herself, how to live on her own and find out what she wants. She just never knew it was right next door the whole time!
“ You’re Mila Thomas. You don’t care what anyone else thinks. You’re not afraid to be exactly who you are, and you don’t apologise for it.”
Reid Walker is so adorable all I wanted to do was hug him and tell him it would be ok. If you have read the other books then he gives Brody and Spencer a run for their money. In Reid we have everything a book lover wants in their book boyfriend. He has an office full of books , loves reading, cooking and travel plus he’s HOT. Add thoughtful, caring, a great personality and sense of humour, he is perfect. Reid has been so patient waiting his turn, watching and being her secret admirer for 9 years. He feels he needs to make Mila see him and open her eyes to possibilities.
“Who doesn’t want to watch a gorgeous man reading?”
We get to see how stale a long term relationships can become when one partner complacent and stops trying. Mila is fed up with putting all the work in and getting nothing in return from Liam so breaks up with him. This is the turning point and catalyst needed to change her life forever. Mila saw Reid as the gorgeous , mysterious , recluse next door. Then one day her car breaks down and he offers to help. This leads to them having a few more encounters and they bond over their love of books. Reid then helps her get work experience and this kick starts their friendship. Their personalities clash but also blend well. Loved when he came up with spontaneous ideas to keep her on her toes. Their banter is so funny and the chemistry oozes off the pages. He is unlike anyone she’s ever known. She finds him confusing and can’t figure him out especially as he seems so in control all the time. He a closed book but slowly shows more of himself to her, lets her see into his life and what he wants. She frustrated he won’t tell her personal stuff but is surprised how quickly she captivated by him. He can’t believe his luck she finally seen him - it did help the day he opens his door topless to her!
“There is no perfect time to find your person. there is no perfect time for love. You just have to leap.”
To me Reid was like a swan gliding along the surface moving through life smoothly when underneath he is paddling for his life. He has had some heartbreaking events in his life and still haunted by them which makes him vulnerable and struggling at times.
“Loving someone is willingly giving them the opportunity to destroy you”
Lovely catching up with Indie and Wren and it’s hilarious when the girls get together. This series has all been about the girl’s friendship and them each meeting a man who completes them. To add to the fun in this book we have Mila’s mum who was just like her with no filter and Reid’s best friend Jason who loves teases him. Natasha Preston has written a superb series and this ended it perfectly. Reid gives Mila the courage to chase her dreams. She persuades him to open up and live his dream. He becomes everything she was looking for in a relationship and she brings the light into his darkness. “ Not all of us are saved by words on a page.” But words certainly saved this couple even if not in the traditional way - Enjoy finding out how.

Natasha Preston can definitely "Read My Mind" because she has written the most perfect book boyfriend ever. EVER. And she created the most adorable heroine to make me fall head over heels in love with her. This story drowned my heart and soul in all the swoony, sweet, adventurous, amazing, heartfelt and mindblowing feels.
Reid was always in love with his neighbour Mila but she was in an on and off relationship with her long time boyfriend Liam. Though she was not happy and complete. Finally she took the leap and broke up with Liam. And circumstances put her in Reid's path. Reid is an professional editor and Mila is studying literature and aspiring to be a published author. It starts as common love for books. Slowly Mila realizes that Reid may be love of her life. But Reid has his secrets and Mila can be a bit too much.
This story is the most delicious slow burn. And I relished and cherished every single moment. It's just amazing that the author unravelled their relationship bit by bit in agonisingly slow pace but the story never lost pace or tension. It's THE perfect balance. Mia, I want to be your girlfriend and be in your circle. She is so lively, bubbly, a whole lot of quirky, passionate about everything, laid back but dedicated, restless and may be a tiny bit crazy in good way. She speaks her mind and finds herself in awkward situation and isn't afraid of anything. Except not finding herself and her true love.
Well she didn't need to worry. Because Reid cannot be anymore perfect. A man who loves to read. Loves to cook. Loves good coffee. Has a home office with a freaking library. Caring, loving, loyal, protective and with wicked sense of humor. AND he loves adventure. He loves to travel and go on unknown unexpected places and live life on the edge. And he turns into this bossy kinky god in bedroom. This is like my checklist ( and I am sure many of us feel the same) of the dream man. Add that heartbreaking vulnerability and we have an irresistible man. The chemistry is amazing. I love their passion for everything books. I love their witty banter and relentless intelligent teasing. I love the heated electrifying tension that became unbearable at some point. They had issues. But it all worked out beautifully. Reid fulfilled the craving and longing in Mila to find an explosive and all consuming love. Mila fille Reid's life with her colourful love. I love being with them in every steps. From neighbour to friends to lovers.
Read My Mind by Natasha Preston was an adorable and intense journey of love. The writing was phenomenal. I fell in love with Reid and Mila piece by piece. Irrevocably. Irreversibly.
This book was amazing! The humour was fantastic and absolutely hilarious, the relationship between the main characters and their friends just cracked me up. This story was completely addicting and I want to go back and read all three in the series all over again. The plot was original and had me so engrossed that I had to force myself to put it down at 4 am, only to pick it straight back up as soon as my eyes opened. Holy book hangover!
Mila and Reid have such a pull. Poor Mila was quite oblivious to him and his quiet crush on her for years but once they talk, they hardly leave each other’s sides. It’s so swoony. Having her two friends, Indie and Wren, from the previous two books, in the story makes it that much better, and funnier. Mila’s loose lips and ramblings are too funny and had me giggling so many times. What fantastic characters they all are.
I am in love with Natasha Preston’s writing style and have just put her in my list of one-click authors forever.
Wow another fantastic book by natasha, I love mila so couldn't wait to read about her. She didnt disappoint shes funny whitty and loves books.
Mila knows she wants more in life than the on again off again boyfriend Liam is giving her so finally has the courage to end the relationship once and for all. Now it's time to concentrate on her.
so glad she finally opens her eyes and sees the sexy, brooding neighbour Reid, together they are perfect for each other, but will the past come and ruin there budding relationship.
This book is Brilliant, it made me laugh out loud but also hold my breath at times I was gifted an arc copy for an honest review. This is a book that will not disappoint.
Who knew I would love reading a book about a man reading a book?!
I jest. Read My Mind is about SO MUCH MORE than that. It's about truths that have remained hidden for so long coming to the surface. It's about self-awareness and growth and learning how to be the best version of yourself. It's about the past, the present, and the future. Catharsis, spontaneity, bravery and adventures pave the way for these characters on their journey to become one unit.
As always, Mila's lack of a filter makes for a very interesting read and Reid - there's not much to say except SWOON! He gave as good as he got, he has endless patience for Mila and has such a sensitive soul. And let's not forget the domineering alpha he becomes in the bedroom!!
After meeting Mila in Just Like The Movies I could not wait for her story. She’s a little spitfire. She’s loud and outspoken and loves books as much as me. Reid was a little bit of a mystery to me before starting this book as we hadn’t really met him properly. Low and behold he’s a bookworm! He has abs, he’s a book loving hottie and he loves coffee - my dream man right there!
If you’ve read Waking Up In Vegas and Just Like The Movies you will be very pleased to know Brody, Wren, Indie and Spencer all feature in this book.
This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down. Read My Mind was the perfect ending to this series but I would still love to visit with all the characters again in the future, to see where they all are. I’m not ready to say goodbye to The One Series yet. Five stars from me!
I have been dying to read “read my mind” since I finished “just like the movies” “Read my mind”is the third final book in “the one” series and I’m sad to say goodbye to these wonderful characters I have throughly enjoyed this series
Mila is stuck in a dead end relationship that really isn’t going anywhere there’s no passion no fire and mila craves that passion that her friends have with their partners Mila has been with off again on again boyfriend Liam for years but the problem is she knows there wrong for each other but Mila would rather be with somebody than be single and alone, Reid Mila’s sexy neighbour has been in love with Mila for years but he’s never been able to tell her how he feels he knows she has a boyfriend but Reid also struggles with opening up to how he feels when Mila and Reid are thrown together and their lives become entwined And they start to get to know each other Reid finally has a chance to tell Mila how he feels about her will he take that opportunity and grasp it with both hands? Or will he keep them feelings to himself?
I absolutely loved Mila in this story we’ve seen glimpses of her in “waking up in vegas” and “just like the movies” and I really loved getting to know her better I’ve always loved her character and the one thing I love the most about her is she has no filter she tells it how it is regardless of what other people think Reid I fell completely in love with he was the sexy brooding quiet man next door Reid and Mila together were a match made in heaven their chemistry was pure perfection and I couldn’t get enough of their story
Natasha Preston has done an amazing job on this series of standalones and I can’t wait to see what she has planned for us next!
I can’t recommend this series enough although these are standalones I do recommend you start with “waking up in Vegas” first
We've been reading about Mila throughout both "Waking Up in Vegas" and "Just Like the Movies," so I was excited to finally read her and Reid's story! Mila is a spitfire for sure -- she's bold, sarcastic, and says a lot of things that most people wouldn't, which is what makes her such a fun character to read about.
Told through two POVs, Mila's and Reid's, we get to not only explore their minds, but we also get to see characters from the first two books, Indie and Wren, and Brody and Spencer! I love this series, so naturally I was pumped for the scenes that the characters had together.
Her and Reid are a great match, and I loved seeing how both of their characters evolved, especially how Mila finally realized that she deserves better than Liam.
It was fun to see the behind-the-scenes of the publishing company that Reid works at, and to read about all of the differences between the US and the UK. For example...calling the trunk of a car the boot, and the hood the bonnet. Plus, I'm not sure how college (I mean uni) works in the UK, because Mila talks often about how she feels old being in college at 21, when that's pretty standard over here. (I'm 21, so it was fun reading a book about a protagonist who's my age!)
Overall, this was a fun read, and I'm so grateful to Natasha for providing me with an advanced copy! Like most new adult books, I recommend this book for 17 or 18+ due to some of the sexual content, but again, y'all gotta make that judgement for yourselves.
Read my mind I absolutely loved Mila and Reid’s story. Mila has been my favourite character in this series from the beginning and I couldn’t wait for her to get her HEA. She is sassy, straight-talking, and hilarious but underneath she is a true romantic desperate to star in her own love story.
Reid!!!! What can I say WOW he is perfect! handsome, romantic, fit, nerdy, and kinky what more does a woman need!!!
This book was fantastically written and Natasha played with all my emotions, my jaw is aching from smiling so much from the very first page I had a massive smile on my face, the banter is fantastic but by the end, I had streams of tears rolling down my cheeks from how beautiful their love story truly is.
First of all, if you have not read the other two books, stop what you're doing and go read them! This hit different than the rest because this feels more like a love story and not just about the extreme sexual tension between the characters. (If you've read the other books you might agree with me). I love the interactions with Ried and Mila. Some of you may even relate to them or have friends that share thier personalities. It really shows what you can do when you surround yourself with the right people and believe in yourself. Sometimes you need to get out of a toxic situation/relationship to see what you've been missing out on to fully appreciate life. A great way to end "The One" series.
So I've loved both books for this series previously to this story and I was very intrigued by Reid/Mila and had no clue what Natasha had planned for their story..and boy it was a journey! I have loved all the characters for this series but I do think that Reid has just pipped all the others to being my main man!!! Wow wow wow he just squeezed his way right into my heart so easily! It was such a wait he had until Mila was ready to be by his side... ive no idea how he managed to wait but bam when she did finally actually see him the intense fireworks were going off all over the place! Love these guys together.... the banter...the friendship..the chemistry...the everything about them! I actually smiled so much while reading this story it was unreal. Would highly recommend this story!
Oh its time to get to know Reid and seriously be prepared to swoon!
I have loved the other books in the series this one is most definitely my favourite.
I love Mila and her lack of filter, she will most definitely need one hell of a strong minded male to embrace her crazy and she has met her match in Reid.
Neighbours/friends to lovers is one of my favourite genres and this one will leave you smiling and swooning as Natasha has delivered a perfect mix of humour and angst mixed with some seriously hot, palpable chemistry.
Well done Natasha i loved this one and can't wait to see what masterpiece you bring us next.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review from the Author
As always, Natasha Preston knocked it out of the park! I’m so glad I preordered so I could have it the day it released! I’ve loved getting tidbits of this love story through “Waking Up in Vegas” and “Just Like the Movies”. I’ve been waiting for Mila to get the love she deserved! Not a single part of this story was boring. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m a mom of a 1 year old, I would’ve sat and read this all the way through without a break. Natasha Preston is my favorite author and she did not disappoint at all!!!
This book was the perfect ending to The One series. I loved Mila in the other two books and her vibrant personality so I’m extremely happy she finally got her own happy ending! Natasha’s writing has a way of getting me completely indulged in her books and I love it! It would be cool to see a novella or another bonus book for this series to see where they all are 10 years from now or something but for now, I’ll keep my version of it in my head. Thank you Natasha for another fantastic book! This pulled on all my heart strings and I loved every minute of it.
After having read Wren and Indie's stories in Natasha's previous books, I was already familiar with Mila and very excited to read her story. It was also great catching up with Indie and Wren too. Mila was quite the character, very sassy, confident and full of life. Reid was the perfect partner for Mila. I loved seeing Mila and Reids relationship develop and found the book very hard to put down. Another exceptional read by Natasha Preston and as always I can't wait for her next book.
It’s a definite 5 stars from me! Absolutely loved Mila & Reid’s story. It made me sad that Reid had stayed in the background for so long, but I understand why. Mila just wasn’t ready! Love comes to those who wait and once Mila had finally got rid of her hopeless ex, she was Reid’s for the taking. It took them a while, friends with benefits at first. Their first proper date ended in disaster, but would they both get their HEA?
Mila and Reid’s story got me out of my book slump. This is quite possibly my favourite from this series. I could not put their story down. I love Mila. She makes me laugh at her ridiculousness, she sassy and so much fun. Reid is the perfect book boyfriend. I loved him a lot. They were so magical together. This series is my favourite for the year.
Neighbors for the last nine years who’ve barely communicated start to form a friendship on their mutual interests but it quickly turns out to be much deeper than that. There are secrets kept, things to let go of and so many reasons to move forward.
