The Essential Mormon Cookbook is a time-honored collection of recipes not found in standard cookbooks- family favorites passed down from generation to generation, traditional potluck dishes served at Church gatherings, and other gifts from the kitchen shared by neighbors and friends. This is the perfect source for these hard-to-find recipes you remember from your childhood, such as Christmas Morning Casserole, Pot Roast with Gravy, and Fresh Peach Cobbler. Also included are recipes to feed a crowd, compassionate service casseroles, and a conference-weekend brunch. More than 200 recipes, gathered from four generations of family cooks, are divided by seasons and event in this unique collection of Mormon comfort food.
I really like this cookbook for several reasons. First, it lies flat on the counter! Second, many of the recipes reflect the down home cooking of my grandmothers and aunts in Utah, which evokes great memories. And third, if you haven't tried the Orange Roll recipe on page 99 you don't know what you're missing. It's one of my brother-in-law's favorites.
This is my "Go To" cookbook whenever I need a recipe that I know will work. I love the "Chicken Bundles" and the bread recipes are wonderful! If I had to leave the house with only one cookbook in hand, sorry Julia Child, this would be the one.
These were recipes that either were ones I knew for a fact would be subpar or just cheap tasting I guess is the best way to describe. There wasn’t anything wow worthy. Most dishes read as very bland but I guess that’s apropos
surprising i know. this was given to me as a wedding shower gift over 3 years ago but i have made tons of recipes from this book and i have loved every single one!
One of my favorite recipe books...like it says it's essential! I love cookbooks...if anyone out there has some good suggestions let me know...for a beginner!
This cookbook is unique in that it is divided into seasons and holidays. It has a lot of recipes that will feed a large group. I love having recipes for any holiday party at my fingertips.
