"Losing isn't a word in my vocabulary".

Thus spoke Chase Banister, male chauvinist, who was intent upon selling his aunt's cottage. He seemed not to care that Melanie not only owned it but loved it and was determined to keep it. How could he do this to her when she had problems enough in trying to support herself and little Ben? Why didn't he just go away and leave her in peace? He couldn't, because he was one of life's winners - whatever the cost.

Ok but zero character development. We know the characters no better at the end than after first chapter.
