He drives a big rig & has even bigger plans . . . for someone’s death. She drives her mother’s car & wishes she had a plan . . . for her own life. He lacks conscience. She lacks confidence. He has $10,000 . . . which surely will accomplish his ultimate goal of freedom. She has $1.30 . . . until a windfall brings more freedom than she knows how to handle. He meets her when he has begun to lose hope. She meets him when she’s begun to find hope. He thinks she’s in Milford, Nebraska. She wonders why she’s in Milford, Maine. It’s an understandable, but potentially deadly mistake.
Thank you for your continuing interest in my stories over the years. If you enjoy them, please continue to tell your friends. If you didn't find a particular book of interest or to your taste in reading, it's always wise to "do unto others" (including authors!) as you would like others to "do unto you." I just 'happened upon' this book while browsing in the library, so this author is new to me....& it was really a gem of a discovery! I'd probably really rate it 4.5 stars, but don't have a problem with going all the way with a 5 star rating, for these reasons: a) the originality of the plot, which offers surprising twists/turns, almost a comedy of errors(!) b) it offers a good/real good 'message' c) I liked the local setting in the midwest...it's clear that the author knows this area/locale d) can't go wrong with having some good 'girl power' thrown in for good measure!! I will definitely look for more from this author!
This story with a couple of outrageous main characters and a plot governed by a series of mishaps and miscommunications reminded me a little of Carl Hiasson's Florida mysteries. Ferlin is a guy you love to hate and Lass a sheltered heroine who rises to the occasion. Very fun read.
