For wealthy socialite Katrina Vandenburg, business meetings and charity galas are all part of her orderly, structured world—one that gets blown to hell after finding two dead bodies in the same day. The police think she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews thinks otherwise. Dayne and his K-9, Remy, are tracking a cold-blooded killer, and that trail...leads straight to Kat.
Kat and her rescue shelter—the Canine Haven—are the only common denominators between the murders, and Dayne is convinced she’s dead center in the killer’s sights. Protecting her will test every ounce of his steely resolve. She’s the most intriguing woman he’s ever met. And everything he shouldn’t want. Too bad neither of them seem to have gotten the memo.
And they need to focus on catching a killer now more than ever. Because if Dayne and Remy fail in their mission, nothing will stand between Kat and the killer’s deadly blade.
Tee O'Fallon is the author of the K-9 Special Ops, Federal K-9, and NYPD Blue & Gold Series. Tee spent twenty-three years as a federal agent conducting complex, long- and short-term criminal investigations, including undercover operations, across many agencies at the federal level, and multi-state investigations as a police investigator. It felt only natural to combine her hands-on experience in the field with her love of romantic suspense. Tee has lived in New York State most of her life with a five-year stop in Colorado. When not writing, she enjoys cooking, gardening, chocolate, lychee martinis, and all creatures canine.
Love, danger and puppies – a brilliant combination…
I love reading a new book in this series because each becomes the latest best of the bunch! Katrina was unexpected – a beyond rich woman with a heart of gold. When she found not one but two bodies in a single day she deserved FBI agent Dayne Andrews protecting her six. Handsome, capable, and good with kids and dogs? Yeah, he was a keeper. They were from either side of the proverbial tracks though which meant assumptions and pre-conceived notions that had to be knocked down one at a time…
Full of tension and suspense, Katrina and Dayne lived and loved their way through a romance peppered with mystery, danger and beyond adorable puppies. Great storytelling seems effortless and that was exactly what this one-sitting read felt like. I hope there is more because I am no way done with the Federal K-9 squad! ~Diane, 5 stars
I received an advanced reader's copy of Trap 'N' Trace by Tee O'Fallon from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
3,5 stars!
This book has all the addictive elements that the other ones have as well, just not all of it was executed the way I hoped for beforehand < which definitely doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy reading it of course…
There’s Tee’s engaging and enthralling writing (which I love so much and made for a fast paced read), there are fantastic characters present whom have such amazing and palpable chemistry and there’s an exciting story-line present as well. It has romantic moments, funny moments, sad moment, and really engaging and thrilling moments as well, so there’s enough of that to keep everyone who likes reading romantic suspense entertained and hooked.
I liked the characters. They were interesting and fun to read about. Their chemistry and developing romance was fantastic and had me all hot and bothered on multiple occasions. This romance gave me all ‘THE BODYGUARD’ feels and boy do I looooove it. I liked getting more background stories with both Kat and Dayne, which made for an overall better character development I think.
One thing that stood out to me was this: I really missed more ‘presence’ of the K-9 character, Remy. In the other books, I felt the dogs were characters in their own way and they were more ‘entwined’ with everything, whereas in this story it felt like Remy was kept in the background most of the time < I feel like there was more possible with this.
As always, the book leaves me craving more. There are still quite a few characters that I’ve gotten acquainted with over time whom need their own story being told as well imo, so I really hope that’s going to happen as well.
Overall, this book is a lot of fun to read and one I definitely recommend it if you like reading engaging romantic suspense and the presence of dogs in general (because even though there was more possible with the K-9 dog, it was still great fun!) To me, this wasn’t the ‘strongest’ book in the series, but it was fast paced, engaging and I really liked these main characters a lot! And when I look at ‘the whole’ of the series in general, it’s definitely still one of my favorite series < so I can't recommend them enough and beg of you to read them if you're interested because Tee deserves for her and her books to being recognized and loved!

MAY 2020: I just got an ARC for this one > Thank you SO much @ Netgalley and the Publisher; I truly couldn't be happier about the fact that I'm able to start reading it later today! This is one of my most highly anticipated 2020 releases. Tee's writing is so frigging good and especially the Federal K-9 series is one that I fell in love with so much. Can't wait to dive into this new story!
Trap 'N Trace is a story of people from two different worlds. Katrina is a billionaire and Dayne is a K-9 Special Agent with the FBI. When danger throws them together they have to fight the chemistry between them. As they struggle they find they have more in common than they thought. But will it be enough? Won’t matter if they don’t survive. This story is filled with love, misundertandings and dogs. Angus is an adorable sidekick for Remy. I heartily recommend this great romantic suspense. This story may be part of a series but stands well on its own.
This is an entertaining, well-written, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, murder, mystery, intrigue, suspense and action. The female protagonist is a wealthy socialite who is strong, down to earth and generous. The male protagonist is a heroic, hot FBI agent. There is a wonderful K-9 hero, a cute puppy, and a happily ever after ending. It is an excellent addition to Ms. O'Fallon's outstanding "Federal K-9" series, and can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.
Katrina Vandenburg is a wealthy socialite who spends her time between a rescue shelter for animals and handling charity galas for non-profits’ she believes in. When she returns a lost puppy, she finds the owner murdered.
FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews, partners with the local police when it’s discovered that the murder victim was former FBI. When another victim is found at the Canine Haven shelter, Dayne’s convinced there is a connection.
The murder-mystery was interesting, and while I easily figured out the connection, I didn’t know the how. It was suspenseful and kept me engaged.
I loved Remy, the K-9, and the lost pup. They were robust characters in the story. I love how O’Fallon makes the animals an integral part of the story. It is clear she loves animals.
The romance was a slow burn at the beginning with obvious physical attraction. When they connected, it was hot and felt genuine. I got frustrated when miscommunications and social standings got in the way but appreciated the growth.
Each of the stories in the Federal K-9 series work as standalone and Trap ‘N’ Trace worked wonderfully on audio. Vanessa Daniels was perfect for Kat. Her male voices weren’t over-exaggerated or horse-sounding. She enhanced my overall enjoyment and allowed me to slip into the story. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
Trap ‘N’ Trace by Tee O’Fallon a five-star read with bite. This was my first read by this author and it certainly won’t be the last, I simply adored the writing style and not simply because there are dogs In the story. That being said I really hope there are places like the canine Haven in the real world as well, this was a compelling read and I already have the rest of the series queued up on my kindle as I need more of this writing in my life. FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews and his K-9 partner was so well done, I love me a good police procedural and usually find myself picking fault as I can hear my step-dad in my head going ‘what are they doing, they wouldn’t hold it like that’ and ‘who says stuff like that! Really why do you watch/read this rubbish’ and I know if he was still here I could tell him to pick this up and he would devour it, even if he would blush at some of the descriptions. But they weren’t my favourite characters in this story, that honour went to wealth socialite Katrina Vanderburg and that surprised me as on the surface, I really didn’t expect to like her as much as I did, she wormed her pretty little face right into my heart. Kat became so much more than a wealthy socialite as we follow her on her path, and it’s a twisty path that is easy to follow but you will need to be mindful you don’t fall of the side as I suspect it may be a huge drop. This was a great story that shows us that money, power can be dangerous things and how that can cause imbalance, but they may not be the only dangerous things to these well written characters. What a fantastic read this was and I don’t think I can put into words how much I enjoyed it, It has taken me two days to get this written as my last one was just all, aaahhhh ooohhh and wow. I couldn’t think of any better words that would do it justice.
Yes! Another spellbinding, page turner starring two of my favorite characters, FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews and his K-9 partner Remy! Deliciously filled with suspense, drama, a full cast of characters, an amazing lead in Katrina Vandenburg, Tee also decided to throw in one adorable little puppy into the mix and this story hooked me right from page one. Kat is not only an extremely wealthy socialite, coming from one of the richest families in the country. She's also extremely private, intensely so; runs a shelter for dogs called Canine Haven on a part of her property and lives in what basically is a castle. Has few staff and likes it that way. When a puppy ends up at her shelter with a tag she heads to meet the owner and return the pup to her and finds her dead body. The woman is a former FBI agent and Dayne is called in to oversee the case, working with the local police and meeting Kat. Dayne has so preconceived notions about Kat and more so when he gets a look at where she lives. The plot slowly unfolds and Dayne and Remy live with Kat to protect her after one of her animal shelter workers who is also a friend is murdered and Kat is also attacked. Those days of kick boxing in her basement gym with her assistant paid off for Kat. Though she now has to deal with having Dayne living with her and his need to take over runs a little competition with her need for privacy. So many twists and turns in not just the overall plot but also between Dayne and Kat. I was so taken with Remy and Angus the puppy! I loved the way the whole story unraveled, Tee pulling thread after thread to keep you glued to the pages, adding into that mix again is the budding relationship between Kat and Dayne. Is there one or could there ever be one? Gah! She had me so twisted! What a book! It's one of my favorite reads of this year. 5 star plus read for me. It's a must read no matter what your preference this book covers every base!
arc from Entangled and NetGalley for an honest review
Another winner! I loved this book - actually, I loved the whole series. This novel opens quickly with Kat finding a murdered woman. Dayen, the human half of an FBI K-9 team, responds and finds the dead body of his former partner. Before long Kat is fighting for her life, and Dayen is determined to protect her. Remy, the K-9, is doing all he can to assist them, even "mothering" the stray dog Kat took in that started all of this.
As Kat and Dayen spend more time together, the sparks begin to fly, however, each is convinced their worlds are just too different. I loved the way they interacted and the push/pull of their relationship.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
I'm such a softie when it come to cops with big German shepherds and Dayne has Remy, he's FBI and a genuinely good guy, what more could a woman want?
When Kat finds herself mixed up in multiple murders with her life at stake she has to have protection around the clock and for a Billionairess you would think she has better protection than a puppy for her massive castle and contents. But as Dayne finds out it isn't the material things she treasures.
Will these two be able to bridge the gap between lifestyles or will one give into pressure? Read this lovely romantic suspense story and fall a little in love yourself.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
* You do not need to read the previous books to enjoy and understand this entry in the series.
When socialite and dog rescue owner Kat Vandenberg finds a dead body when returning a puppy to it's home, she has no idea how her orderly and private life will be thrown into the spotlight once more. And when the killer attacks one of her friends, Kat becomes the target for the next assault. So FBI K-9 agent Dayne Andrews will be with her to protect her and investigate until the murderer is caught. But sparks fly and it will take all they both got to stop Kat from meeting a deadly blade.
Pro's: + I liked how we go through multiple suspects until we find the real murderer and the author really managed to not give us any hint on who he actually was. Therefore the investigation aspect to this story was really fun and I liked that. + Kat Vandenberg is a really likable character, that goes through some major growth in this book and the way she does it was really nice to follow. It feels like she finally comes into her own skin and I was happy for her all the way.
Con's: - The K-9 in this book, Remy, is really one of my least favorite dogs in this series. Her personality seemed way less prominent and even when she is in the spotlight she doesn't really make a lasting impression on me. - I'm seeing a massive common denominator between all these man and therefore sometimes they become one and the same for me. Which is a bit of the shame, since and think they and their dogs should be the focus of these books. They are all emotionally shut of with massive commitment issues and it becomes boring.
Pfff, I found this book by far the least interesting in the series thus far, it feels like the male protagonist is the same as in the previous books and even though the female lead is quite interesting, it never was up to par with the other books. The dog is not nearly as interesting as the previous K-9's, there is almost no personality to her and she never really shines. It just felt so generic and even though there were some really funny moments that had be laughing out loud, it never became more than generic and I liked the other books better than this one.
This one was fairly predictable in the romance part, but it was fun to see both Dayne and Kat work through their issues. I also really liked seeing the role that both dogs played. The crime was a bit over the top and I hated how people were killed for such a nothing reason.
Another great story by Miss O'Fallon. I received an ARC of the story from Netgalley. I loved the murder mystery/action/romance throughout the story. Dwyane and "Kat" both have preconceptions about each other....as they get to know each other more, they realize that they're more alike than different. Just because someone is rich/billionaire does not change their emotional health, everyone has needs.
This book had a sexy FBI agent with a canine companion as an officer/partner. A woman who not only rich, but will kick box anyone who threatens her or her close friends (her make-shift family). Her parents died not too long ago leaving her a multi millionaire/billionaire. She just broke up with her boyfriend (her supposed friend hooked up with him) after she told him he would need to sign a prenuptial agreement. Most men want to date her fir her money, not for her. Dwyane doesn't care how rich she is...he just wants to protect her.
They met after Kat found thd body of an ex-FBI officer. The officer once trained Dwyane at quainco. Kat had attempted to return a lost puppy to its owner, when she discovered the body. Later that night she discovers another body at the animsl shelter she runs. Two bodies within 24 hrs leads the FBI to try to connect the dots between tgd teo murders...they come up with Kat being the connection.
Dwyane is assigned to provide protection to Kat. The action adventure starts with more bodies being found, and the killer almost killing Kat in the end. I don't want to give the ending away. A great story that leaves the reader on great journey.
All her money and the power that came with it… She’d told Dayne the absolute truth. None of it mattered. The one thing she wanted in the entire world—she couldn’t have. Him.
I could not wait to start this book. The Federal K-9 series is one of my favorites, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting this fourth installment for ages. Okay, not ages, but you get the idea…
So, did Trap ‘N’ Trace live up to my (admittedly high) expectations? YES! I loved it! I’m so relieved to be able to say that, too, because I’ve come to rely on the excellent writing and realistic law enforcement vibe of her books. They’re so good, y’all.
This book has a lot going for it: adorable doggos, an FBI agent who oozes sex appeal, and a smart heroine who is waking up to her world. It’s interesting and smart, sexy with a slow burn, and definitely chock full of suspense.
Altogether, another stellar story from O’Fallon; one that’ll go on my re-read shelf as I go back to anxiously and excitedly waiting for more of these K9 agents and their partners.
(Side note: this can be read standalone, but this is some crossover and the other books are SO good, you don’t want to miss them!)
I've really enjoyed this tale. Action packed from the beginning. I've never read this author before, but was in the mood for romantic suspense. The author delivers a captivating tale that you won't want to put down. I received a copy for review, but my opinions are my own.
ENG: Tee O'Fallon hasn't failed me once. With her writing style, she hooks me with the romance and the suspense. And she knows how to write solid characters. That being said, I feel like the tension and conflict between the characters weren't fully exploited. Compared with the other books in the series, I missed the K9 factor. Remy (and also Angus) was there but she could've been more present. The aspect of this book I enjoyed the least was the drama surrounding rich people. Not my cup of tea. I only noticed this in this particular book, but they used the word b**** quite a lot. I wish we had more sorority in this one.
Review copy was received from Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I've been enjoying this Federal K-9 series with its strong characters and of course, the dogs and the law enforcement aspects. We still get glimpses of previous couples but those are very limited.
Trap N Trace is more focused on the law enforcement case with an FBI agent acting as a bodyguard to an heiress who was attacked. He is somewhat involved in the investigation, but more with her protection which isn't easy as she is well known. One of her key charities is running a shelter, so even more dogs are in the picture. But the dogs barely play a role other than one search and I like to see more of their skills.
Katrina learns a lot about herself and what she wants during this time. She has just been dumped by a guy who was only interested in her money. She's got an old childhood friend, who has money, and now wants to step in and basically acquire her to bolster himself. Yeah, nobody liked him.
Dane, the FBI agent was a foster kid. He has a great relationship with his adopted family and he's good at his job. He struggles with being too attracted to his witness, and feeling he will never fit in her world. He succumbs to her charms and his own desires as they grow closer over time. It felt realistic, but I also wished they had worked through more of the intellectual aspects rather than jumping in emotionally.
I enjoyed their story and the interesting group of friends they developed. Dane and Kat have good hearts. They are kind and compassionate which they both needed in their lives. Kat had been especially alone with users and hangers on, but limited real friends. It's a fun and mostly predictable romantic suspense. Narration: I have been so happy to be able to review these books on audio. I'm comfortable with Vanessa Daniels as the narrator for the series. She has distinct voices for both male and female characters. There are some slight regional accents. I was able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.
Trap ‘N Trace is the fourth book in the Federal K-9 series. This was a new author for me and not the normal book for me to read, but the description caught my attention, so I thought I’d try reading something new. I am so glad I did because I loved it! My attention was caught at the beginning and the intense plot kept me on the edge of my chair until I finished the book. There were so many twists and turns and unexpected leads that there was no hint of how the book would end. The book flowed so smoothly and was so beautifully written. The author’s style of writing puts the readers right into the action and emotions of the characters. The characters were developed and perfect for each other. Wealthy Katrina Vandenburg didn’t expect to come across a dead FBI female while returning a puppy that had been found and brought to her rescue shelter, the Canine Haven. Nor did she expect to be attacked and find her friend dead at the shelter while collecting food for the puppy, Angus. FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews didn’t think it was a coincidence that both deaths were during the same day with Katrina being involved. He and his K-9 Remy’s mission is to protect her and find the murderer. Dayne wasn’t sure what to expect from Katrina but he didn’t expect her to be so sincere and caring for her employees. She was a constant surprise for him, and he knew he shouldn’t become involved with the witness of a case. His past has made him wary of wealthy females but the attraction between the two is too strong for them to deny. Can he keep her safe and be objective while investigating the case? This was such a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters from the previous books in the series make an appearance and I am truly intrigued by the series. I can’t wait to read the previous books and hope to see some of the agents again in future books.
I really liked the story. It had everything I look for, romance, suspense, and intrigue. With every page I turned I kept thinking I knew what was next, but I was wrong! With as many romantic suspense stories As I read, I love when the book can catch me off guard. Will definitely be placed in my reread library with my other favorites.
I received an advanced reader's copy of Trap 'N' Trace by Tee O'Fallon from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was not the first book by Tee O'Fallon that I've read and I have never been disappointed so I went in with high hopes. Happily, the positive track record continued with another fun book!
Overall, I felt this was a solid romance and I found it to be well written. I especially liked the primary and secondary characters' interactions and found their banter to be amusing from the start. The main characters, wealthy Katrina "Kat" Vandenburg and FBI agent Dayne Andrews, started out a bit adversarial with the only thing in common being a love of dogs.
After Kat finds a second dead body in less than a day and is attacked by the killer, Dayne takes on protection of her as he works to figure out who the killer is and why. As Dayne gets to know the woman behind the socialite facade, they find a lot more in common than just dogs.
I found the action to be steady and the romance to be believably paced and steamy. Plus, it's a book with a smart FBI working dog and an adorable puppy. What more do you really need?!
All in all, Trap 'N' Trace by Tee O'Fallon was a quick, fun read and I would recommend it for any romance fan.
This is book 4 in the Federal K-9 series, and I have to say, I’ve loved each and every story so far, (all standalones by the way). FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews and his K-9 partner Remy are on a mission to find out who murdered his close friend, a former FBI agent in cold blood. The only lead he has is wealthy socialite Katrina Vandenburg, and an adorable puppy named Angus. When it becomes apparent that Kat is also on the killer’s radar, Dayne becomes her personal protector. Living under the same roof and spending every waking hour together proves difficult considering the undeniable chemistry they have going on. They both try to ignore the mutual attraction they seem to have to each other, and, in order to keep his distance, Dayne convinces himself they have nothing in common, and he has no interest in her or her snooty friends. His priority is catching the killer. Yeh, good luck with that Dayne. Great story, I love Tee O’Fallen’s style of writing, the characters are wonderful, and the dogs, do not get me started on the dogs, they’re freaking adorable. So so cute. This romantic suspense was completely addictive. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
trap'n'trace, the latest entry in the federal k9 series at least didn't focus entirely on cops. when socialite katrina vanderburg encounters two dead bodies in one day and is nearly killed for her efforts, she ends up with dayne andrews as her protection detail.
their previous encounter wasn't great, but they overcome the awkwardness once all the murdering gets too close for comfort. i mean, there's still a lot of cops in this, because there's a murder investigation and it's just weird. i wish i could say that what is happening in the world around us didn't affect me as a reader, but i think i'm going to have to start avoiding stories that unilaterally depict cops as heroes.
so reading this, i loved kat, i loved dayne, i thought their back-and-forth was compelling and interesting. but, the suspense aspect was difficult, and it's not anyone's fault. it's just where the world is right now.
**trap'n'trace will publish on june 15, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing in exchange for my honest review.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book from Netgalley and here is my honest review. This book was on my list of books I have been wanting to read I loved the first second and third books in this series. This is the story of FBI Agent Dayne Andrews and Katrina Vandenburg. She found two dead bodies while the police think it was just the wrong time and place Dayne does not think so. Kat has a dog rescue shelter called the Canine haven. Kat and her shelter are the only things in common. Dayne and his K9 Remy will do what they have to in order to protect Kat from a killer. It will test Daynes resolve in doing so. If Dayne fails in protecting her nothing can. I loved loved loved this book. I read it in one day. I couldn't put it down. I really couldn't wait to see what happened between Kat and Dayne and find out about the killer. I highly reccomend this series and book and i cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Wasn't as in love with this one as I was with the previous books. I don't know if it was because of the characters or something else because this book started out with a murder, which is how I like my books to start. But maybe it was because of the lack of mystery involved.
But maybe I was just over this series and didn't really want to read about cops, especially with the Breonna Taylor decision that came out last week. It's not right to continue putting these characters on a pedestal when in reality they're going around murdering people - and getting away with it.
Either way, I'm glad to put this series on hold for a while. Hopefully when bad cops start paying for their crimes it'll make it easier to stomach these types of books.
Katrina Vandenburg's world is turned upside down when she finds a murdered woman. Normally she spends her time in business meetings and her canine rescue center. Now she has to face real fear and the nuisance of the press.
F. B. I. special agent Dayne Andrews and his K9 partner Remy don't usually get involved in a murder case, but the dead woman was a former agent and good friend. Later in the same day the case takes a very nasty turn and he finds himself acting as a bodyguard for a very misunderstood woman.
This is a very exciting romantic suspense / murder / mystery. Our hero learns his first impression might have been reverse snobbery. Our heroine makes a lot of changes in her lifestyle and finds out who are her real friends. The doggy characters are lots of fun.
This is part of a series of connected but stand alone books. I will definitely be reading more of them.
From page 1, this book was full of excitement. I really liked the way the book played out- it focused a lot on the mystery of who was stalking/ hunting Kat and why. Dayne, the FBI agent, was assigned to help protect her. They met previously and he had preconceived notions about her because she is so rich. But Kat, as a character, is fantastic. Caring, sweet, down to earth and smart, she made the perfect heroine. Dayne is protective and smart too so together, they made quite a team. I loved the look into a few other agents including one from a prior book (that I bought but haven’t read yet) and Remy, Dayne’s canine partner and Angus, the puppy, stole my heart.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy. I have enjoyed this book very much!
4.5 Stars for another enjoyable read in this compelling series. This time there are 2 leading dogs, the K-9 Remy and Angus, the adorable puppy. Amidst of two murders, a love story develops between two very different people. Dayne, an FBI Special Agent, that spent his childhood years dirt poor, until he was adopted as a teen and Katrina, the sophisticated billionaire socialite, that lives in a castle. They bond over their love for dogs. Dayne has no issue when he is assigned to protect the star witness in a double murder, until he realizes he can’t protect his heart. I loved this oddly matched couple and that the billionaire was the woman, for a change. The mystery part kept me guessing, though I was partially on the right track. Overall, I was pleased.
