This installment into the Valorian Chronicles deals with new characters, Fiona Woodland (Lyra's cousin) and Hector Morales, a human from Texas working in Necropolis. The short story centered around Lyra and Theron's wedding where Hector and Fiona meet with lots of hijinks ensuing because of Fiona's clumsiness and power effects on electricity. Since it took place in such a short amount of time, I had a difficult time believing that the couple found true love and happily ever after for all time. My favorite parts were in seeing the old gang from the previous books, especially Caine the lead of the Necropolois CSI unit. Fiona and Hector were okay characters but there wasn't really much background given for the reader to get to know who they really were and to see their progression as the story builds. It's one of the faults of the Nocturne Bites line, there's so much crammed into so little and much of the time it feels like a whole novel was chopped down to a few chapters rather than a well crafted short story.
I'm glad it wasn't the sexathon that Mahina's Storm was but also wish it had more a bit more bite in the story to match the longer Valorian books.
This was definitely a quick read. It was definitely a bridge between a series I've not read yet. But it made them both seem interesting. The underground paranormal world Ms. Anna created was something I could dive into. Made me perk some interest into the other series. Love her fast pace writing. Not to deep, but can tear through a book in just a few readings. Good for a vacation or weekend getaway.
