This book has really nice pictures. They are realistic but not just the plain real live photograph. They are full of bright colors and really draw the eye towards the pictures. They are very soft and have definite lines. It is a great book to show student’s what is under water and what kinds of animals there are. The book is full of all sorts of little facts and is great for students who don’t like to just read and read and read. The reader is able to more or less just jump around the book to learn many new things.

I liked the book. In it you can find lots of information about different underwater living creatures. I think children will be really interested in reading and learning about different types of fish and they will love the colorful pictures in the book.

A great, informative non-fiction book all about under the sea. The mixture of colourful illustrations and photos is engaging and draws your eye to the key facts. The text is concise and relevant while being short making it accessible for all children, regardless of age or ability, to access. There are lots of interesting facts which are likely to engage and enthuse children in the topic. The book could be used alongside a topic about under the sea or simply for enjoyment.

As the title entails, this book is all about the creatures that live in the sea. From bottom dwellers, to the largest ocean animal, "Under the Sea" gives facts about it all! What is bio-luminescence and why do certain fish have it? Why do whales have to jump out of the water so often? How many different species of sharks are there? Find out these answers and more in this book! What helps early readers is that there is an index and glossary at the back that can pinpoint certain topics. There are even websites listed that children can visit for more information.

I used this book for the sea animals in an art lesson. It features different types of animals from under the sea and has 5-6 facts for each animal or class of animals. The pictures are great as drawing references. The pictures include: dolphins, sharks, a stingray, octopus, a sea horse, a leafy sea dragon, a lion fish, and angler fish. There are pictures of other animals as well, the ones I listed there are just the biggest pictures. It's also great for kids to look through if they need to choose an animal and don't know what to do.

This book could be used in a unit on the ocean/sea creatures/different types of animals. It offers information about several different types of animals that live under the water.
It could also be used, simultaneously, to have students practice number recognition and sequencing by having them use the table of contents or index to identify a number and then find that page number in the book. Since it is only 32 pages long, the numbers do not get too high for pre-K or K.

Genre: picture book, informational book, very young
Beautiful pictures fill the pages of this book about life under the sea. Important facts are on every page as well asintersting facts. This book does a good job presenting the information to the very young reader without being dull or dry. This would also be a good book for a teacher to use in a preschool classroom learning about seal life.

Another great early science book from Usborne. We love these books. It is also internet-linked, so you can find extra information online if you are interested in pursuing anything. Very happy with this title for my 5 yo.

The book under the sea by Fiona Patchett is a non-fiictional fact based information book. It has 32 colorful pages of real like vibrant animal pictures. The books consist of sea creatures and information about the animal. This book is part of a series of 40 books. It's a hardcover book with the title using different kind of type. Some pages they use thedouble page spread effect with the pictures same page goes on over the two pictures. The other type of pages you will find the montage effect where there may be more then one picture on the page. Patchett only writes about true facts and keeps the book as realistic to nature.
