Desire Burns Forever
The clientele at Shore's clothing store includes some of L.A.'s sexiest bachelors. But none of them affects Megan DeLacey as deeply as the dark-eyed stranger who strides into her boutique one evening - and keeps returning, night after night. Megan is drawn to Rhys Costain even as she fears him. Because his reason for being there is clear - he wants Megan, with an intensity that's both tempting and terrifying.

For almost five centuries, Rhys has lived alone, using women as it pleased him and never wanting more. As Master of the West Coast vampires, it's his duty to eliminate the ancient vampire who's draining humans on his turf, putting all of their kind at risk. But Megan's lush beauty and vibrant warmth is blinding him to a danger that will soon engulf them both - and tear him from the only woman who can satisfy his darkest hunger.

Summary

Megan DeLacey works at a department store for men called "Shores", and most of her clientele are L.A. sexiest bachelors. Ranging from singers, actors and businessmen. Megan loves working with people and she loves her job. Her roommate is a model and men take one look at her and Megan is always overlooked. One evening, a handsome and a dangerous stranger walks into Shores, a man she is fascinated by but also fears him but doesn't understand why. He comes in every day for a week before he admits his reason for coming is to see her. Megan at first, is unsure what to make of Rhys Costain. She knows he has money, owns a "goth" like club and is mysterious and full of secrets. Rhys is a vampire lord over the western U.S. Rhys is also one of the oldest of his kind, experienced and powerful. But he is drawn to Megan in ways he doesn't completely understand. He knows that she is human, and could never accept what he is, but he just wants to have a small taste with her. Soon Rhys and Megan begin to fall in love, but then Megan learns who Rhys really is and what he is. Megan at first can't understand him and is confused over her mixed feelings for Rhys. But Rhys and Megan are drawn back together through a series of events and Megan sees the true Rhys, the vampire and the lover who has always held her heart. But Rhys has an enemy and will use anything in his power to destroy Rhys and Megan. Only their love can stand the tide...or will the most powerful vampire alive destroy them and everything they hold dear?

Plot and Story Line
Everlasting Desire is the second book in this duo series of Amanda Ashley's. But What a story. Even though I am super curious about the first book, I didn't feel lost or out of placed. But there is some connection to it. And since the main characters from the first book, do play a pivotal role in this book, I do want to read the first book I was very intrigued by Daisy and Erik. It has been ages since I have read this author, so when I saw this title available through my library, I decided to try it out. And lately I have been in the mood for vampire-themed romances. And knowing how much I enjoyed this author before I figured it would be fun to try her out in audio format and boy was it fun. I couldn't put this one down. I listened to it at work, working on the blog and even cleaning the apartment. Just couldn't get enough. It was a mix of narration and the story. Both were superb and I loved the way this story develops.

I didn't have many issues with the story, but there is one factor I tended to get a bit annoyed with, the heroine. When she learns the truth about Rhys, I really didn't care for how she treated him for a little while. She was very self-righteous and judgemental about him being a vampire. I could understand the shock, of course, because who runs into a vampire every day right? But when you really love someone, you accept them for whatever or whoever they are. So I just couldn't get a handle on her attitude. Megan goes into denial for a bit until Rhys makes her face the truth and her real feelings about him, and not all of them are disgust and fear. She still loves and care for him and I like that Rhys doesn't just slink away, he fights for her to accept him. Rhys is the reason I feel they found a happily ever after in the end because he didn't give up on Megan eventually accepting who he really is. Rhys is a character you just instantly love because he hasn't had life since becoming a vampire. Rhys isn't perfect, but he is honorable and lives by his conscience and even though he makes mistakes, he owns up to them and accepts the consequences.

The romance between these two is full of mountains of issues they have to work out, but they battle through the tough issues and emotions and find their way to loving each other fully. They have instant chemistry, and the sparks between them are what ties them together in the beginning. But we see how much their relationship is tested, especially once the "villain" of the story come to light and threatens them. They stand together and firm. There was an interesting twist with Megan's roommate and best friend, that really twists up the emotions of the reader. My heart just went out to Megan, because this is the part of the story that was really difficult to read at times. I don't want to spoil anything too much, but I want to say that this is a pivotal moment for Megan and Rhys. Because Megan realizes the difference between the good vampires and the not so good ones.

This is a story that really was a phenomenal story, and the type of book I was in the mood for. It fought with my emotions, brought me to the edge of my seat with passion and danger and some intrigue. I see I need to be reading this author more and more if her other books are anything like this one.
Narration
The narration is just fantastic and even though at first it took a little while to get used to the voice, I soon got hooked and she is now one of my favorites to listen to. She wasn't too dramatic, but she employed the right blend of emotion and inflections to hook me. Now I want to see what else she has narrated.
Cover
I love the older style cover, its just classic. With the purple background, the bright full moon and the couple pose here.
Overall View
Everlasting Desire is a stimulating and passionate love story that delves deep into the wide range of emotion, brings the reader stimulating desire, and crafts a story mixed with dangerous villains, treachery, suspense, and mystery. A SPICY ROMANCE TO CRAVE!!

Rhys might has been a hottie but he was a crappy master vampire. First he gets taken down (immediately) by a vampire hunter who he should have obliterated and then Tomas Villagrande (who, granted was an old master vampire) takes him down again and needs human Megan DeLacey, vampire Erik and Daisy to help him seal the deal. So not impressive.

This wasn't as good as previous books I've read by Ms. Ashley. Not bad just not spectacular.

This was a fairly good book, though it had some discrepancies that annoyed me. The first one was that Rhys was portrayed on the cover as dark haired. However, in the book Rhys is dark blonde. While I don't mind him being dark blonde, as I'm reading the book, I picture the characters as they look on the cover. I think the models on the cover looked good and that's how I picture Megan and Rhys. So, if the author is going to choose a dark haired model for the Hero, please make sure to describe him as such in your book.

The other discrepancy that I caught was that in the beginning of the book, Megan tells Rhys that she had been married before, but it didn't work out and was "years ago". Okay, then she is listed as late 20s, I think (at least 25). Wow, she must have gotten married at 18 if her marriage ended "years ago". However, after that, there was no mention whatsoever of Megan's previous marriage or the ex-husband. THEN...(here's where it gets weird), when Megan is looking for a wedding dress after she plans to marry Rhys, she thinks how it's not everyday a girl gets married and acts like she's never been married before!!! Seriously? Did the author forget she made Megan a divorcee?

Other than these annoying issues, Rhys and Megan were good characters and, though Megan was irritating at times and Rhys was a weak vampire compared to Tomas (the villain), there was good chemistry between them. I did enjoy how their romance progressed. And when Megan found out Rhys was a vampire, she didn't just shrug and say "cool", she actually was freaked out. Plus, the bad guy, Tomas, was absolutely a true villain. And the surprise side story was very good. However, the abrupt ending to that side story was a disappointment. I mean...that's it? I won't say what the surprise was, but I was hoping for more to come of it. But Megan takes care of it and...that's it. No confrontation...no real action...just...a small blip and done. Iykyk.

This wasn't Amanda Ashley's best book, but it was still good enough to keep me interested. I would still recommend it and I liked Rhys' character quite a bit. Not great overall, but still good.

This was okay, but the author keeps switching voice with the characters, and the dialogue becomes laughable. One minute the vampire is using current phrases and language, the next he's gone old school, and that might be permissible, but not the female love interest- that made no sense and drove me crazy. It also drove me nuts how easy Megan was to manipulate. So much for empowered female characters!

Well I have finally finished reading this book. Can't believe it took me this long to finish. It was good in the beginning, died a little near the half way mark, picked up again but I did not like the way the love scenes were put in. Kind of like thrown in cause the writer decided to just throw them in. But otherwise it kept my interest but did not like the way it ended.

This book was a gift and I'm not familiar with this author. That being said, this has some really good points while others feel really rushed. I didn't hate it as an intro to this author, but it didn't sell me that it was good enough to buy a book of my own from her.

Everlasting desire, is the only Amanda Ashley book that I have read but, to me, it was a great book because it combines all different types of human emotions, and how far love can take you. Even though Reese was a vampire, Megan Delacy chose Love over all else, and became a better her in the end, because she believed in love and sacrifice I love that there were so many emotions to be felt so much had to be sacrificed
If u love romance, drama, and violence this book just might be for you.

Have you ever heard the old saying that all vampire books are predictable and boring? That there is nothing new and different in the genre that would cause a reader to stand up and cheer when they were done with the story.... I say different, not only are the books written by Amanda Ashley not boring or for the most part predictable but they will make you smile and even cheer for the books characters at stories end!
Right off the bat let me say that the main female character of Megan DeLacey is going to make you peeved in the beginning of the book, at some point she does finally grow on the reader...
Master Vampire hottie main male character Rhys Costain however you will fall in "lust" with immediately!
The two meet when Rhys comes into the high end clothing store where Megan works the night shift... Night after night he comes back and buys something each time so he has the chance to interact with the beautiful young human female, the first female to entice Rhys in centuries!
Megan is of course flattered and intrigued by what she perceives to be a younger man with money to burn showing interest in her!
Speed up a little and the two have gone beyond mere flirtation and engaged in an intimate relationship during the course of which Rhys is grievously injured and Megan is confronted with the awful fact that he is really a Vampire not a human at all....
Add the kicker in that her roommate and best friend tells her that she is dying whereupon Megan decides to have Rhys turn her friend into a Vampire to save her from permanent human death...
Why do we all know that this is a bad idea? Also there is a rival Master Vampire going from coast to coast causing the entire vamp community to be up in arms as he leaves a string of dead bodies behind him on his way to the city of Los Angeles...
The story is one that will have you reading faster and faster to see what drama occurs next... Will Megan's roommate turn out to be a good vampire or a bad one? Will Megan and Rhys make it work and get their much wanted HEA? Will Rhys survive the approaching confrontation for his territory?
All these questions and more are yours for the answering within the pages of this darkly brooding tale... If you like your vampires on the sexy side with a little of "the inner beast" showing from time to time than this series will be perfect reading for you for sure!
Book 1 Everlasting Kiss started this new series February 2010 and there is a third book undetermined release as of yet and tentatively titled EVERLASTING EMBRACE that has the first chapter up and can be accessed by going to the authors works in progress page on her web site.
I have been a very longtime fan of this author which started when I read my first Native American Romance book written under her real name Madeline Baker . Comanche Flame was first released in 1992 and when I discovered her Vampire Romance books written as AKA Amanda Ashley in the late nineties have been eagerly reading her work ever since!

Just like with any other Amanda Ashley books, EVERLASING DESIRE does not disappoint.

With his friend Erik’s luck with love, Rhys Costain wonders if he will have the same. Shaking his head at the obscured thoughts, he walks into an exclusive men’s clothing shop and meets Megan Delacey.

Night after night he returns, buying more and more clothes and becoming highly addicted to her. He has to lie about his age when she’s reluctant to go out with him when he seems younger than her 29 years. Slowly he earns her trust and overcomes hers sense of fear when around him.

During this time, killings are becoming rampant on the news and Rhys warns his council that the vampire appears to be heading their way and he most likely is an old one.

Just when her best friend, Shirley Mansfield’s sickness makes itself know, a vampire attacker reveals Rhys true nature to Megan. By this point they had become intimately close. Although her feelings are deep, she’s quick to shut him out of her life.

Until her dying friend Shirley wants her to go talk with him and arrange a meeting. Megan is unsuccessful in talking Shirley out of becoming a vampire and Rhys turns her.

Unfortunately, turning into a vampire either brings out the best or the worst in people and for Shirley it was the worst. She quickly gets caught up with Tomas, remember him from EVERLASING KISS?, and turns on Rhys and Megan.

With Tomas after his control, Rhys is just about to give it to him when he and Shirley kidnap Megan before he can tell him. Upon the fight rescuing Megan, she’s forced to stake Shirley when Tomas leaves her to kill him.

Now free, Tomas is after not only Rhys, but Megan for killing Shirley.

Rhys calls on his friend Erik and Daisy to help. When a new killing sends Rhys over the edge, Erik and Daisy’s brother Alex go with him.

The battle is fierce and if it wasn’t for Daisy and Megan’s sudden appearance, Rhys wouldn’t have had the perfect distraction moment to finally stake the oldest vampire known.

Megan didn’t know it, but at the vampire parting for them to feed, Rhys wasn’t coming back. As she tries to settle back into her life, she can’t help but miss the man who changed her world.

After weeks, he’s waiting in her car and begs for another chance. Using the love for him that he sees in her head, he convinces her not only for another chance, but to marry him as well.

Tragedy strikes as she’s walking out of the wedding dress shop and is hit by a 16 year old drunk driver. Weeks in the hospital shows no improvements and finally Rhys takes her parents aside, tells them what he is and what he plans to do with Megan.

Megan wakes to feeling different and after being told about the accident, puts it together that he changed her. Although she takes the news better than the way she talked about being a vampire while human, they are separated the first night after a hunting trip.

A long night to think concludes to Megan that there’s no reason to be apart when they love each other. After meeting the council and joining their ranks, Megan asks if he’s good on his marriage proposal.

With her mother helping her dress and her father walking her down the aisle, Megan puts behind her the trial and triumphs that have changed her life and walks into the arms of her husband.

Everlasting Desire features a vampire who has seen it all and a naïve human he comes into contact with. From the minute she meets Rhys Costain, Megan DeLacey knows there is something different about him – exactly what though she doesn’t know. He makes her tingle when he is near, but he is also a bit frightening.
The two start a relationship and there are things that alarm Megan as the relationship develops, but she puts her worries aside until she has to confront the truth, that the man she is dating is a vampire. Megan was a wishy washy female. I cannot say that she was strong or even determined about her love for Rhys or her determination to make the relationship work. It seemed as if Rhys did all of the work in the relationship, while also dealing with other serious vampire problems like an ancient one who came to take his territory and succeeded in killing some of his council members.
Megan didn’t like the idea of Rhys being a monster, yet she still dated him. When he turned her dying friend, she just sniped about the tricks that vampires could do, but she kept going out with him and then when he finally asks her to marry him, she says yes, despite knowing that he is a vamp and he drinks blood. I also didn't get the attraction the other men who came to the shop where she worked showed in her - what was so special about her and why would an up and coming rock star want to marry her? There were lots of things that didn't make sense and that weren't really explained.
Rhys for some reason was attracted to Megan. He kept on going to her and was in love with the woman. I didn’t really understand why he wanted her as I didn’t think that she had any kind of redeeming qualities and I got quite frustrated with her sniping about vampires, yet being rescued umpteen times by a vampire.
Despite not really warming to Megan, I did like the character of Rhys – he is a vamp who is just and who doesn’t abuse the power he has and who wears a whole lot of black – cliché or what? This book is set in the vamp/hunter/human world that Ms. Ashley has created and some characters from previous novels are reintroduced. There were more scenes that I won’t go into because I don’t really want to give it all away, but even I was going oh come on, give me a break as I continued to read – do we really need to know why she has to go to the toilet and the colour of the towels they are using for example?
For a romance novel, I would call this a lukewarm one to say the least. It had no heat or sparks or what I felt it needed to burn the pages, which was also unfortunate. All in all, it was an ok read. If you like a book that doesn’t really burn the pages with love and sex, a wishy washy female lead and a vamp who seems to be chasing his tail saving a woman who has issues with vamps, then this might be the story for you.

I love Amanda Ashley books! When she contacted me asking her to review another one of her vampire stories, I jumped for joy at the chance! If you are unfamiliar with this authors tales, where have you been? After all the hype of sparkly and cute vampire tales, sometimes I need a break with dark and brooding vampires to make me remember why I fell in love with these sort of paranormal creatures in the first place.

In Everlasting Desire, we meet Megan and Rhys. Rhys Costain, who is the Master of the West Coast Vampires, finds himself drawn to retail consultant Megan DeLacey. After swearing off love and thinking he will spend his Immortal life without happiness, Rhys is surprised at the feelings and emotions that Megan DeLacey makes him feel. She is a mortal and Rhys knows that there isn't much hope for a vampire and mortal to be together. When another Master Vampire decides he is too bored, Rhys finds not only himself in danger, but also Megan.

I loved this book. I have loved almost every single book by this author and automatically buy anything that comes out by her! I love how she is true to the original Vampire tales. They are not sparkly and they are not always happy. They have the darkness that you would expect from a Vampire. Rhys is mysterious, only comes out at night, rich, and of course sexy as hell. I loved every single thing about Rhys. What was not to love about him? He showered Megan with attention, roses almost every our of the day while he courted her, and was very protective of her.

Megan, on the other hand, was not a character I liked. She was so naive and stupid at times. She kept changing her feelings about Rhys, one moment head over heels in love with him and in the next breath scared of him. Then about halfway through the story, she starts to come around and warm up to the reader.

The side characters were just as fabulous. Shirl was annoying, yet it fit her character and it plays a major point in the story. The bad vampire, Tomas, was the ultimate bad vampire. He is the one of the oldest vampires, and mean as hell. He pretty much has last all of his humanity that he had left and doesn't care one bit about killing humans. When Tomas and Rhys have their showdown, I couldn't help but hope he would get his but kicked! With appearances from characters from the previous books, it reminded me of all the fabulous vampires this author has created.

I can't wait for the next installment that this author brings to the table. She has me captivated with each story and keeps my pulse racing with the romance! Move over sparkle, hello dark and mysterious!

Book 2 in the Everlasting series.

I loved this book, I thought it was an exciting sequel to Everlasting Kiss. I have to preface my review by saying that I really dislike reading books that contain a character with my own name, I find it weird and distracting. However, after a few chapters this didn’t bother me as much as I thought it was going to as I became engrossed in the story.

This is the story of Rhys Costain, Master of the West Coast vampires, who we met in the first book of the series. And his lady love Megan DeLacey who Rhys meets while she is working at a high-end men’s clothing store called Shore’s. This book starts out in typical Ms. Ashley fashion, but quickly took some unexpected turns that I didn’t see coming. Megan has to come to grips when she finds out that her boyfriend is a vampire, and then shortly after she has to deal with some hard decisions that her roommate, and model friend, Shirl makes. Then there is Tomas Villagrande, one of the oldest known vampires, who is killing indiscriminately and not disposing of his kills. And he is leaving a string of dead bodies in his wake as he travels from the east coast to LA. Megan eventually ends up caught in the middle in a dangerous game of revenge. Will Rhys be able to protect Megan from a vampire who is stronger than himself? Even if he does, how will he and Megan end up with their HEA when she absolutely does not want to become a vampire? I guess you’ll just have to read it to find out! :o)

Amanda Ashley - Everlasting Desire

The title of this book says it all “Everlasting Desire”. Living for over 500 years Rhys has no desire to be with any women until he walks into Megan DeLacey's place of work, and lays eyes on her. Desire is what Rhys Costain feels when he lays eyes on Megan DeLacey. He desires her touch and the taste of her blood. He has a need, or "desire" if you might, to be with her forever.

Amanda's book "Everlasting Desire" is a wonderful love story of a Vampire who falls in love with a beautiful Mortal. This is a great romantic book with lots of romance, and humor. I laughed throughout the whole book at the humor that Amanda uses in this book. Romance and Humor, what more could a girl want when reading a Vampire book? “Everlasting Desire” is sure make a Everlasting impression on you.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read your book Amanda, I look forward to reading more of your books. =-)

Instead of reading, I actually listened to this book on CD. I kept hoping that it would get better and that some plot would evolve and it finally did (on disk 5). It's really your basic vampire plot -- someone Rhys (pronounced Rees) Costain is in charge of the West Coast Vampires. Another (older) vampire wants to take control of the territory.

Rhys has developed a relationship with mortal, Megan DeLacey. She has a roommate, Cheryl (sp?), who is having headaches ... I don't want to say more than this for fear of spoiling the story for some.

An okay story, enough to hold my interest, but nothing spectacular.

The reader, Jennifer Ikeda did a great job. I would not have kept listening if the reader did not hold my attention.

Have to admit this was a DNF and I hadn't read book 1, although that wouldn't have made a difference. I found the lead characters boring; the female lead accepted so much information on faith and never even once Googled the 'heavy spending' customer with a stalker fascination for her while the male lead quickly mind-wiped the women of his desires and drank her blood on numerous occasions without permission. Not what I would call the start of a trusting relationship. On top of all this, it seemed like the author had ran through all the amazing things it would be great to do and gave those skills to vampires. Read minds, wipe minds, teleport yourself and others, telekenesis, control of electrical appliances not to mention the standard immortal, super strong, super good looking.

This was good, but I don't believe it was as good as some of the other books of Amanda Ashley's that I had read previously. Somehow I found myself predicting everything that happened in the book so it was kind of a let down. Overall I do believe it was good. The way these two met was interesting and I do have to say if that I had that much money to spend on clothes I think I could find myself spending it on other things instead, like charities for instance. Not that I'm looking down upon our wonderful Rhys, I understand his reasoning for a new wardrobe - I just can't get over the price of everything!

An entertaining book with plenty of twists and turns in the story that keep you guessing as to what will happen next. Sure, there are plenty of things that are easy to predict, since this is a romance of the sort that you know will have a happily ever after ending, so some things are a given, but still the author manages to throw in plenty of things that are surprising. Even if only somewhat so.

This was definitly not a new favorite of Ashley. I was excited to see Daisy and Eric again but I did not think enough time was given to Reece and Megan to overcome her bias opinions and beleifs to fall as madly and deeply in love with Reece as the author tried to have us beleive. The plot was good and some of the various twists and turns were fun and surprising. Again, it was the connection of the two main characters I got annoyed with (occasionally) that made me not as happy as I wanted to be with the novel.

Sequel to 'Everylasting Kiss', but it can be read stand alone (although what's the fun in this, since the main male character is introduced in 'Everlasting Kiss'). Typical when you read a vampire romance, the vampire's age when he was turned is not a factor. It was fun in this book when 30 year old Megan finds herself attracted to a 20 year old customer (if she only knew... and ends up knowing). Loved both these books, lots of fun and quick reads.

Yes, Megan did get on my nerves and her best friend surprised me but all in all I really enjoyed this book. I totally would be all over Reese and enjoy every moment of it...lol
Great story line I kinda thought of Edward and Bella a little as I read this story in an adult version, but perhaps that was just my Twilight obsession kicking in.

I own every Amanda Ashley book, and a few of Madeline Baker's, but I seem to find myself skipping over parts of this book. In the past, I loved reading Amanda Ashley, but lately I find myself skipping all her data dumps and filler information. Meh, it works for her though. Still, her doom-and-gloom vampires are rather hot.

I love Amanda Ashley!!! Her stuff is great no nonsense old fashioned vampire fun. This one had return characters I loved and while the plot wasn't the most stimulating it was still awesome and I enjoyed every word.
