(ENG)
In Dracula, Pascal Croci and Françoise-Sylvie Pauly retell both the historical legend of Vlad Tepes and the classic vampire myth from Bram Stoker's novel. Croci's direct painting style — dark, expressive and atmospheric — immerses the story in a gothic, almost sultry atmosphere. His use of colour and sharp lines emphasise both the cruelty of the historical figure and the menace of the fictional count, seamlessly blending history and horror.
It was nice to reread this graphic novel after all these years. I don't feel that my opinions have really changed since then. I still find it an atmospheric book. It's just a pity that the seasons depicted don't match how they are described in the text and that Bram Stoker's original wording has been significantly altered. However, a detailed explanation for all this is provided on the last four pages of the book.
Definitely a graphic novel I want to read again someday!

A beautiful graphic novel, filled with the uncanny, dark and gloomy atmosphere of a true Gothic story. In my opinion, this is the best version of Dracula in graphic novel form out there! Pascal Croci makes some intresting choises with this novel. Like telling us a complete, somewhat accurate, origin story of Vlad Tepes. After this, we get to the beginning of the real Stoker novel. Dracula is never shown in this story, rather in shadows and statues, wich is a intresting choice. Sometimes, the really recognizable art style of Corci brings up some confusion. Like how every drawing is set during winter, but it's clearley stated in the story that everything begins during summertime. But, as I said, this is stille a gorgeous novel, only fitted for those of us who like to see the beauty in darkness.

Mutlaka Bram Stoker'in yazdığı orjinal kitabı okuyacağım.

This was an odd collection of two stories. Based on the title you would think that this is just another adaptation of Stoker's novel, but these are actually two novels in one. The first I think is there to show, somewhat, how Dracula became a vampire and the second is an adapation of Stoker's novel. And I have no idea why on earth both are in this as both seem only loosely connected.
Also based on the artstyle it is pretty hard to differentiate when a person is a vampire or not, since all of them have white skin and huge eyes. I cannot even tell if the vampire woman in the first story (who "created" Dracula) was simply standing still or turning into a statue.
When they got to the actual novel adaptation it was a really odd way of telling and showing as we were constantly on the look-out for the count but he was never shown even though the novel depicts several scenes where he was present. There were several dumb statements, which I cannot remember from the book, and for some reason the women only wear red or black here, in the entire novel. Especially Mina looks like she is on a funeral. Plus there is even further cases of "tell this and show something else" as Mina is describing a serene land but we see red and black images of a ship, a storm and Dracula and had I not seen the 90s movie/read the book I would have had no idea that this depicts his journey. First we were not shown what we were told, then we were told and what we were shown was only half-true. The text said Lucy is laying on a bank, but the picture clearly shows her on a tomb.
After that this just rushes through the story. I could deal with characters and plotpoints being omitted (except for the fact that Mina never drank vampire blood here so why should she have a connection with Dracula?) but not like this. And instead of using space for panels and make the story flow, it jumps around and the artist apparently was more interested in showing us one old and decrepit graveyard or building after the other and just one shot of empty landscapes after the other with some text, so basically just told stuff but not shown. This is boring, stale, the pages stink and this guy claimed to love the book, but he is to that what Shyamalan was to Avatar.

Idk why so many people are giving 3 stars, this book is slay. I read this on the bus when we were going on a holiday a year ago and it left me with a surreal feeling, I couldn't put it down.

It leaves you some space to think just like how the Dracula by Bram Stoker was formed with letters and had emptiness after each one and you could fill it with your own imagination. The first book manages to make you feel the thrills of Dracula without even showing his face. The second one was just as amazing as the first but it left me with different feelings like sadness, hope and hopelessness.

Illustration style first felt weird but I ended up loving it so much with the gothic and dark ambience to it and the lanscpaes were insanely beautiful. I rarely re-read books but even after years I still feel like re-reading this again and feel the things I felt when I first read this book.
