Rate this book
Basic Electrical Engineering has been written as a core course for all engineering students viz. electronics and communication engineering, computer engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering etc. Since this course will normally be offered at the first year level of engineering, the author has made modest effort to give in a concise form, various features of Basic Electrical Engineering using simple language and through solved examples, avoiding the rigorous of mathematics.

Salient Features
D.C. Circuits along with Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws explained.
Faraday's laws of electromagnetic induction, Lenz's law, hysteresis losses and eddy current losses have been discussed.
Steady state analysis of a.c. circuits explained.
Network theorems explained using typical examples.
Analysis of 3-phase circuits and measurement of power in these circuits explained.
Measuring instruments like ammeter, voltmeter, wattmeter and energy meter described.
Various electrical machines viz. transformers, d.c. machines, single phase and three phase induction motors, synchronous machines, servomotors have been described.
A brief view of power system including conventional and non-conventional sources of electric energy is given.
Domestic wiring has been discussed.
