Oh man, I forgot how much I enjoyed this series. I think it's been a little over a year since I dipped a toe into this series - maybe longer, I'm actually not sure. But, regardless, it didn't take much for me to be immediately transported right back into this world. With this book, it is actually quite a while into this story until we actually get to see the whole gang become involved. Even with that, I just enjoyed the heck out of it when the gang "came to the rescue" Or didn't...no spoilers, right?
As I mentioned before, this is the 12th book in this series and we have watched as one by one, all of the children become mated and fall in love. This story, while following the basic gameplan, had a few detours along the way. We are introduced to a couple of very "bad guy" characters along with the woman (Melanie) that Kyle discovers as his mate.
Since I had been away for a while, I think I enjoyed everything that much more. It made my heart hurt when bad things happened to Kyle, and it made me even more thrilled when I got to see the "family" do what they do best...and for those of us who have invested our time and emotions into this series....we know what that means.
I actually alternated between listening and reading and probably ended up listening for most of the story. There was a newer narrator - Tess Irondale - and if I'm being honest, while she wasn't awful, I have enjoyed the narration of Tavia Gilbert who has narrated most of the books in this series. I'm not positive, but I think this new narrator took over a couple of books ago. Either way, when the story is that good, you can overlook a lot of things that might otherwise bother you.
I have been away from this series so I have no idea if this was the final book in the series or if we have more to look forward to. What I do know is that if I see another book out in this series, I will not hesitate to hit the "buy" button :)
