From the author of THE CROWLANDS, Hare-Cursed is the haunting new novel by rising horror star, T M Creedy...
Mont Orgueil Castle, Jersey, 1603: Fourteen year old Jennet Pyke has been found guilty of witchcraft and languishes in chains, awaiting her death. Born with a facial deformity, Jennet is declared hare-cursed at birth, and has lived as an outcast all her short life. Only her friendship with Matthieu Chevalier, the youngest son of the local lord, allows her feel like the pretty young woman she ought to have been.
When Jennet shares her remarkable story with a visiting nun intent on hearing Jennet's final confession, she changes the course of her destiny and unleashes a curse that will ripple down through the centuries and haunt the Chevalier family for all time.
Four hundred years later, Leah's life is in ruins as she struggles to come to terms with the vicious attack which left her with life-changing injuries. When her friends, Jayne and Matt, inherit an old manor house on the island of Jersey, Leah jumps at the chance to go with them, offering to help look after the couple's two children - five year old Alice and baby Noah, while Matt restores the dilapidated building back into the imposing mansion it once was.
It's not an easy move for any of them, but it's Alice who seems the most unsettled. Leah hears her wandering the halls at night, talking to the empty rooms. Alice begins to suffer from frightening blackouts and unpredictable behaviour, blaming her imaginary friend, Jenny, for her violent outbursts and attacks on other children.
Then Matt uncovers a hidden room - The Witch's Room.
Determined to find out who, or what, is haunting Alice, Leah uncovers a generations-old secret and must delve into the horrors of the past to save them all.
From the seventeenth-century Jersey witch trials to a modern day haunting, Hare-Cursed will chill you to the bone and leave you scared to turn the lights off!
T M Creedy has written three books to date, with another one on the way, and yet another desperately trying to batter its way out of her head and into book form.
She has lived previous career lives as a veterinary nurse, florist, charity shop manager and, most recently, Human Resources Officer - where she thought daily about self-harming with the office stapler, just to relieve the boredom. It was her first novel #Blessed that sparked her career as a writer, and now the ideas just won't leave her alone....
Born and raised in New Zealand, she now lives on the channel island of Jersey with her foster guinea pigs - Traumatised Neil & Dilly-Roo; a secret cupboard full of rich tea biscuits and her guilty conscience.

Having never read anything by this author before, I didn't really have any expectations when I first picked it up but I'll definitely have high expectations now when reading anything by TM Creedy.
I absolutely loved Hare-cursed! First of all, I love the fact that we follow two storylines, Jennet’s in 1603 and Leah's in the present day. I adore stories that make this connection between past and present so clear. Secondly, Jennet’s story is such an interesting look at the history of witch trials.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an eerie, beautifully written and with plenty of emotion-charged moments read.
Well this was flipping brilliant! I expect no less from the amazing TM Creedy. This one isn't in the horror genre that one might expect from Creedy after The Crowlands, but more on the supernatural side of things with ghosts and witches. Once again Creedy focuses her story around a female character who grows out of the face of adversity. This one is no different, Leah, if anything has one of the harder adversities to deal with. The book is set on the wonderful island of Jersey and most of the places mentioned can be visited. If you don't know the island well, I recommend googling some of the places in the book, or better yet, visit once travel becomes a safe thing to do again.
With all of Creedy's books, I highly recommend it. Well worth a read!
Having read Crowlands and loving it, I was happy to start this one. I live I the USA so reading an author from another country is always fun and this one gives a bit of historic education as well. Thanks for that!! The language bits make me smile and I enjoy all the differences in wording and whatnot. This story is so good and twisty. How everything happens to bring these characters together. I love these imagery people and I missed them when it was over. I look forward to more wonderful books from this very talented writer.
This is a new book by T M Creedy and as i loved The Crowlands so much I could not wait to read it. It's a ghost story set in Jersey and follows the story of both Jennet in 1603 and Leah in the present day. I LOVED this book!!!!!!! I would give it 25 stars if I could. Creepy goings on in an old house, secret rooms, hidden secrets and a ghost looking for revenge - what's not to love?? I particularly liked Jennet's story as told to the nun - a fascinating look into the history of witch trials and how people picked on anyone who looked a bit different then. Again, superbly written and fast paced, I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a spooky read.
Great haunted atmosphere with believable and sympathetic characters.
I could almost feel the manacles around my own wrists and ankles, remembering other times in history my differences, quirks, and oddities might not have been tolerated.
Hare Cursed is an eerie and timely folk horror tale full of dreadful inheritances brought to horrifying but just conclusions.
Fans of Silent Companions or Pine by Francine Toon will love this.
Loved the characters, the different view on witches and being different. I expected more of a horror factor as this book was recommended as such after a friend of mine read another book from the same author. It has the most an eerie feeling to it, but that is it. Other than that, this book is great in describing and developing characters you empathize with and feel for.
I could not put this book down! The third title by this author and they just keep getting better. I enjoyed the characters, the historical detail, the pace, the horror! I was genuinely sad to come to the end of this one, and can't wait for the next title this author comes out with.
