This book works well as a complement to more in-depth and robust communication studies. It is essentially a book of lists of pointers for educators to communicate more effectively in all areas of their profession. Ramsey repeatedly (and appropriately) emphasizes the importance of directness, clarity, and civility in all communication circumstances. I appreciated how much Ramsey emphasizes the importance of listening in effective communication. Throughout the book, he often reminds his readers to listen more than they talk. Unfortunately, Ramsey only indirectly addresses the importance of relationship building in effective communication, which I believe is a crucial foundation for educators and school leaders. I think it would be worthwhile to hang on to this book as a reference/reminder tool when needed in specific situations.
