'Caught Up - All is Fair In Love & War' - re-released as 'It Ain't Trickin' If You got it'
I was gifted this book to review and I am glad I read it. This is my first read from First Lady K and I am looking forward to reading more of her work in the future. 'Caught Up - All is Fair In Love & War' - re-released as 'It Ain't Trickin' If You got it' is about a young woman whose terrible childhood shaped her views on herself as a woman and her sexuality. Throughout the book we see her flashback to several abusive incidents with her stepfather, her interactions with men in the present while she attends college, as well as her friendships or lack thereof. She gives a relationship a shot and then we see the drama that unfolds with that. The ending is the kicker and I would love to see what happens in Part two.
EXCELLENT. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. It's grown. It's sexy. It's reckless. It's traumatic. It's a whirlwind. Once you pick up the book, you won't be able to put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I suggest having "It Ain't Trickin' If You Got It (Part 2)" at the ready, because you'll immediately want to hop into to get resolution into the matter that ends Part 1. It may really resonate with you if you went to North Carolina A&T State University or Bennett College in Greensboro, NC, as the story takes place at A&T. HBCU students in general will love this book because it's so relatable. If you're a prude, please steer clear. This book DEFINITELY has adult themes.
Dramas definitely on the menu I just can't see how Alexis keep finding herself in the situation Jay someone is definitely despond of the devil I guess look we came from now here you got Henderson babymomma just as bad when the world it come I feel sorry for Alexis that story is still untold I hope to get out of this situation because she got to nutballs on this was well-written very entertaining and his storyline is bananas out freaking standing
Great job Lady K. That ending got me ready for part 2. Alexis was doing the most and learning about her stepfathers betrayal had my head spinning!!! I liked Henderson because he was the only one that seemed to cause Alexis to want to slow down. It was messed up what happened but I was glad she gave him another chance. Damn Justin was a straight disappointment!!! Po' baby!!! Summer truly was acting salty! Where the hell did Jayshawn's crazy ass come from? I swear dude was going overboard with everything he was doing when it came to Alexis. Wait a minute, Keisha is the baby momma of who? Smh at Keisha! She messed up what she had and mad because the next chick has what she desperately wants back. To top it off, she's a deadbeat ass mother!!! Ugh that chick need to just go somewhere with all her triflingness!!! Ha ha, omg did Tameeka really do that? All kind of crazy stuff was happening to Alexis, not only by her so called friend, but also a lunatic. I'm just curious as to why Tameeka, even though embarrassed, didn't just tell Alexis everything about her brother. I swear I just had a moment and want to know if Tameeka is the baby sister, especially after learning who Jayshawn is! Man damn, I need Alexis to think of something!!! Now I still have a few questions. Will Alexis be able to get out of the mess she's in, will Henderson finally bring out the side of him that Alexis hasn't seen yet, will Keisha and Jayshawn get what they deserve, did Tameeka play a part in this mess, is Jayshawn following in his fathers footsteps, and exactly what did Alexis do to her stepfather once she got tired of his ways???
Well,Well,Well This was a good read kept my attention, I felt a little sorry for Alexis she had it hard coming up, her stepfather was a #SS HOLE and what kind of mother did she have to let something like that happen to her daughter. Henderson seems like a good guy but I bet he has some skeletons in his closest Jayshwn I new something was up with him crazy as hell keisha was just a fool, I was surprised at Meeka , I hope that Henderson finds her soon. We're is part two I would love to see how it all unfolds would recommend this book to my friend's Ps. I had a boyfriend named Shawn and his #SS ( was crazy to ) LOL......
I'm not sure what happened with this story. The heroine has "issues" and is aware of said issues and questions her actions. The same "heroine" picks up a new man while just being diagnosed for a STD. She goes out meets a new man that she invites of over and is shocked that they don't have sex that first night because she still has 2 days of antibiotics to take...(insert side eye) This book appears to be one long "setup for the action to begin. The language and mentality was extremely juvenile. I understand the female lead had daddy issues and had been raped as a child which lead her to be promiscuous, but she was written as a simpleton. Was that the goal? I'm hoping to see some character growth and some progression in the next installment....
I am a little confused this book is nothing like the title implies. So did the author just come up with a title out the top of their head and began writing the first thing that came to mind? The book is an ok read but maybe we have a different definition of it ain't trickin if u got it. Basically it's a book about a girl who was being abused and raped as a child by her stepfather and her mother ignored it. She became promiscuous and slept with a lot of dudes then she fell in love. She made very bad judgment calls and that's why she ended up in her predicament.
The book was entertaining and filled with drama. Story has steady pace and character are developed. It was engaging couldn't wait to see what was going to happen in the next chapter. It has plenty of drama surrounding the main character Alexis. One thing I look for when reading a book is how is flows. This book steady flow and there was always something happening to keep entertain. Alexis was a wild young lady. Then your past always does affect your future. I have to say this book really keep me entertain and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. It's a true page turner and well written perfect mix.
Alexis has had her fair share as a child with a abusive step-father who took her virginity at a young age now that she has grown all up she never thought she could ever find luv so she used men to her advantage until she found the man of her dreams Henderson who he has a lil girl now the ending just blew me away bcuz JayShawn her neighbor has tricks up his sleeves to get Alexis by any means necessary I can't wait to read part 2 I'm still tripping at the end smh......
I was reading this book thinking it was about some rich man spending money on woman. I never expected what I read to have. Well written and very thought out. I was surprised and totally off guard for what went down. Never imagined it happening the way it did. I can't wait to read the next installment!!!
This book started out kind of slow. Alexis had too much going on. I felt that The Author kept referring back to Alexis' past to try and explain some of her behavior. It was too much back and forth with Alexis getting with random guys or contemplating getting with them even after contracting STDS. I think The characters needed to be developed more.
Alexis' past has come back to haunt her. She used hers good looks to get any man she wanted. That was also going to be her downfall. Who is going to save her?
