Thirty years ago another woman's husband was killed, another woman's children vanished without a trace. The only witness was a small, terrified child-Christine. Now Chris must search long-buried memories of that horrible day for any hint of the evil that has reached across three decades to once again stab at her heart.
Vintage horror/suspense as only McNally could have written it! Take this ride....it takes off FAST and doesn't let up till the last page!
Yes, it took me a bit over 2 weeks to read this....BUT that does not mean it was a slow burn or boring read; it was anything BUT either those! This book will keep you guessing and gripping the cover till the very last page....and even then and there is ANOTHER twist! This poor girl growing up and being tormented by a man and then having to go thru it all over again as an adult is one you will not forget. Yes, do not let the 'Flowers in the Attic' type of cover throw you off.....that was the norm for these types of books in the 80's. Clare McNally wrote a LOT of books, and there was not a one that i did not enjoy when I read them. Now this was one of those that was hard to find back then....but I came across a mint condition 1st edition a couple years back and so glad I did. Highly recommended!
Written 1994. Three decades ago, a woman committed murder on her husband and her children were abducted. The sole witness to the crime was Christine, a terrified child. Now, after discovering her husband’s murder and her children’s disappearance, she must delve into long-buried memories of that horrific day to uncover clues and find her children.
This book i have read in the past before i started goodreads...
This book is one of my favorite.. I have read it at least 3 times. The first time i read this book i was slightly young and got confused with the past and present chapters.. Later on i reread it and it made sense..
This book was well written and has a creepy edge to it.. I guess you can say i was kind of scared what would happen to the kids...
my cousin recommend this for me to read, well the plot and the story is really thrilling and it makes you wonder all the time, though there ate some typo that can be found.
I loved the character as a young girl.....the story line was a little weak in certain aspects and I found the main character as an adult to be very under-developed as compared to her as a child.
