Spirits. Ghosts. Whatever you want to call them, they’re real—and in the town of Sleepy Hollow, they’re anything but sweet.
Growing up, I never imagined the legend of Sleepy Hollow was real, but it is. When my dad dies, I’m forced to face the town I wanted to forget, and the reality that things are so much more twisted than I ever knew growing up.
The Headless Horseman is alive and stalking me. I’m caught in a love triangle between my childhood friend, Bones, and Crane, the erratic, strange man who was working with my dad until his death.
But as my new friends and I are about to discover, the old tale got some things wrong. The Headless Horseman was never the bad guy, and my blood is the key to opening the veil between the otherworld and earth. If that veil opens, spirits will wreak havoc upon everyone in town.
Beating the ancient evil plaguing this town? Figuring out my feelings for the multiple men in my life? Realizing that I just might be the only one who can banish the evil for good? It’s a good thing I’m a twenty-first century bitch, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty.
Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.
Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!
If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.
Seriously who doesn't love a spooky retelling of one of the most creepy legends ever?
Kat, Crane, Bones, and Wash. I adore that the headless horseman is one of the harem. He totally saves the day too. Pretty sure Wash is the absolute best headless horseman ever. I mean, come on! He even got his head back!
This is the boxset of both books plus some never before released new scenes that are sooo sexy.
Love this so much. Definitely a keeper and just in time for the season. Highly recommend this for those who love RH retellings.
This story was something a bit different with a fun twist on the classic Sleepy Hollow. I wasn't over the top in love with any of the characters though so it's not going to make it to my favorite shelf. But I still really enjoyed a new spin on The Legend of the Headless Horseman. The story had a great balance between the spooky setting the story required and plot along with the romance aspect was wonderful!
Book One: First Person—Heroine* Book Two: First Person—Heroine**
*(except for three chapters towards the end, which aren’t from the heroine’s pov) **(all from heroine’s pov)
❥
I never grew to like the heroine in this duology. Kat came across as an arrogant and spoiled brat.
A lot of her thoughts were along the lines of, “This is wrong, and I shouldn’t be doing it. But I really want to, so who cares about the consequences.” Basically, her decisions are based on her desires at that moment in time, for the large part dismissive of how they will affect the people around her.
Considering that I found the other components of the story enjoyable enough, I’d say it’s worth giving at least book one a shot. It’s possible that others won’t view Kat’s character in the same light—the one that casts her as self-centered—as me.
book one is about sleepy hollow and we meet kat who was from sleep hollow but left when she was young because her parent divorced she used to go back for the summer holidays to send time with her dad. She had heard all the stories about the Headless Horseman and but though they were just stories. That is until she has to return back home because her father had died and she need to sort out his funnel and his house. she meets up with her old friend Bones who she used to have a crush on when she was younger and he is even hotter now. then she meets her dad work partner Crane and she is drawn to both of them. But then she commits the ultimate sin so to speak and she cross the bridge at midnight and comes face to face with not only the Headless Horseman but also another spirit and well it all goes a bit bad from there. i love the charters i have to say i am very much leaning towards the Headless Horseman i think he is hot i have to say it took me a bit to get into the book but once i did i couldn't put it down and it also made me want to go and watch the series about sleep hollow. another great book by Candace wondrak thumbs up cant wait for the next book
second book in the series and wow I loved it Katrina is still finding out about herself and coming to terms with the fact that she is a witch and also the fact that she is drawn to the headless horseman who she calls wash which is sort for Washington and wow I love the headless horsemen and when it finally happens yeh. Which she was worried about because she was scared that bones and crane wouldn’t want to be with her but they had already spoken about her connection with wash and were ok with it.i have to say I love that her book of shadows is a iPad. There was more sexy scenes in this book but I have to say I am team headless horseman.
Don’t cross the bridge at midnight… you might just lose your head. I’m going to be honest, Hollowed totally made me almost jump outta my own skin. Candace Wondrak why the heck did you have to paint such vivid pictures of the creepy ass spirits!? For fucks sake I felt like if I closed my damn eyes I’d be seeing that terrifying spirit with hair like spider webs and sharp yellow teeth! I’ll have you know that your book nearly gave me a damn heart attack when the bedroom door creaked as it was opened by my mother. *shivers*
If you’re a weirdo that likes being scared shitless this is the book for you. (Totally not judging, I’m one of those weirdos.) If you enjoy mysteries and hearing your heart beat louder and louder with every turn of the page this is the book for you. If you love sex scenes that would make an old lady clutch their pearls while turning white as a sheet, stop reading this review and grab Hollowed ASAP. If you enjoy a bit of will they won’t they, this might not be the book for you.
Hollowed is 100% an insta-love which makes perfect sense once you find out just how deeply connected Kat is to Sleepy Hollow. Unfortunately for someone who enjoys a little push and pull the romance in Hollowed wasn’t something I necessarily enjoyed. It wasn’t that I disliked it, it just was kinda meh for me. Read those last two words again, FOR ME. You may love it so please don’t take that into account when deciding if you’d like to grab a copy of this book.
I would like to also point out that while the romance in Hollowed wasn’t my cup of tea I STILL loved this book!!! The world building was phenomenal and the plot was so incredible it honestly made up for the romance and then some. Hollowed had my full undivided attention for all the hours it took me to read it… Which also happened to be in one sitting.
Wow just WOW... this duology is an amazing spooky retelling of the legend Sleepy Hollow! The Headless Horseman? Yeah he’s in this! An what a man he is...
I love Candace Wondrak’s take on the legend and how’s she changed it and made it her own as well as squeezing a harem in the mix! It definitely made this story very juicy and fascinating! As soon as I started reading this story I was hooked and Candace kept me sucked in for the entire journey! And what a journey she took me on! Like seriously it was honestly amazing and considerably well thought out story-line!
I love the characters! Kat, Crane, Bones and Wash were all amazing and each of them are different from the other bringing something unique to the harem! I especially loved Kat’s relationship with the Headless Horseman it kept me on edge wondering what was happening next and where this journey was leading them both. The additional bonus scenes in this Duology is amazing I loved how the relationships within the harem was explored further I definitely loved it!
This Duology is a highly amazing PNR reverse harem which is very suitable for the spooky season if your looking for a book this Halloween! I will say that this book is definitely underrated and seriously needs some more recognition because it is incredibly marvellous!
I really hope Candace writes another spooky retelling in the future!
I fell in love with this series last year when it was released so to hear about some bonus scenes with the newly released box set had me eager to reread the series again. I always love reading an author’s modern twist to a classic tale and Sleepy Hallow has always been a favorite of mine. But to make it not only a modern twist but to have it be RH, it’s perfection!! 😍😍
Like in typical Candace style, she was able to flawlessly write truly eerie and macabre scenes in her stories, and this was no different. The way she described the Otherworld was beyond eerie and had me on the edge of my seat.
Wash is still my favorite character even a year later. His stoic presence in the beginning to one that was more of a fumbling fawn in the modern world was funny to read. His personality and his demeanor is what wins me over for him.
I highly recommend this box set if you like to read eerie stories with a modern flare to classics. Plus it’s the perfect time of year to read something a little more on the spooky and chilling side.
Another fantastic read by the ever talented Candace Wondrak!
Hollowed is Candace's take on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. This paranormal, reverse harem book sees Kat return to Sleepy Hollow after years away. All sorts of creepy, magical and mystical shenanigans ensue...expect witchy magic, spirits...and of course, the Headless Horseman.
Will Kat and her men defeat the evil that plagues Sleepy Hollow?
Hollowed also has some bonus chapters with varying POVs. And phew, are they 🔥🔥🔥! Can't wait to see what Candace has in store for us thirsty fans next!
This book is the perfect amout of the original story with some zest of today's world. Often I read books based off old tales but don't enjoy because the author took too much away from the original tale and completely recreated. Hollowed followed'ish the storyline. The characters were very interesting. There were no dead spots. The ending wrapped up the story completely. I very much enjoyed the extra scenes at the end and appreciated the story was complete, even if you opted out of the bonus content. I will be reading more books by Candace Wondrak❤
I absolutely love this take on Sleepy Hollow. Brilliant read and an interesting take on a classic story. Kat has returned to the small town of Sleepy Hollow after several years away. She is such a spunky Character that nothing seems to phase her. Crane and Bones have such detailed personalities that I can just imagine the way they act around each other so well. This is a brilliant story, One that is definitely on my re-read list already.
This book came just in time for the spooky season 🎃 who doesn't love a retelling of the headless horseman. This set features book 1&2 and a steamy little addition.
I'm not sure why more people aren't reading this set because it was a really good read. This set will leave you thinking of all the characters you think you know very differently. I mean come on the headless horseman in a harem...need I say more.
Interesting twisted mysterious. And so so steamy. I completely loved this take on sleepy hollow... the plot was so on point. And the characters are so well developed you will love them. Even the villains you love to hate. I loved the journey. The ending was great. Extra scenes 🔥🔥🔥🔥 wow.. this a must read if your into supernatural, RH, retelling of old tales. It was perfectly done.
Hot dammm I thought reading this book was hot but the last chapter had me sweating, and wash I think I'm in love with him. Growing up I saw the sleepy hollow movie and watched the series but nothing could compare sleepy hollow to this dam book, I thoroughly enjoyed this version it was hot action filled and everything a girl like me would enjoy. I don't usually have favourite authors but candace you are officially my hero thank you
This was something a bit different and fun. I wasn't in love with any of the characters though so it's not going to make it to my favorite shelf. But I still enjoyed a new spin on the headless horseman legend. I'll check out some more books from this author.
I’ve enjoyed a few of Candace Wondrak’s books but this one fell short for me. I got over halfway through the book and couldn’t force myself to finish it. Lots of repetitive language and the MC’s fixation on Crane’s “nerdy but still sexy, you wouldn’t ever know what was under those clothes” body every time they had a scene together was annoying. It was a meh for me.
What a fun read! After feeling like I’m reading the same storylines over and over (never by Wondrak though😉) it’s always refreshing to stumble upon something unexpected. Kat, Bones, and Crane are awesome. Throw in a twenty first century badass, add a dash of folklore with a twist, and prepare yourself for the ride. Sleepy Hallow trickery with a smoking hot Headless Horseman, need I say more?🔥🔥
I truly enjoyed this series! I think it was one of the best out there. I did not put it down. I loved the characters and the storyline. I enjoyed the extras at the end as well.
This is a Sleepy Hallow inspired RH and I was here for it. There was a great plot line and characters that meshed well together. And not to mention the extra spicy scenes at the end!
I kept saying to myself.. Kat, you're missing things and then it seemed to all click for her.. took a bit but then she came back with a vengeance! Also those bonus scenes 🥵🥵🥵🥵 TOO GOOD!
Hot and spicy...well fleshed out characters...different slant on the old storyline...sexy and loving...hope all four characters live happily ever after together.
I love this author and all things sleepy hollow so I was very excited to try this duology. It's well written, great storyline and character interaction. I loved it.
I really liked this book! I think it's really original and very interesting. My only complaint is the sex scenes left alot to be desired. They really fell flat.
Sleepy hollow retelling. Mostly from FMC POV but with the odd H POV.
After her dad dies Kat returns to Sleepy Hollow to arrange his funeral. Her dad was the lovable town crazy obsessed with the Sleepy Hollow legends, so much so that he named his daughter after Katrina Van Tassel. Kat hates all things Sleepy Hollow having spent her life being told how much she looks like the original Katrina and is determined to pack up her fathers things and get out of town as soon as possible despite reconnecting with her childhood friend and crush, Brom Brunt. Refusing to believe the towns legend Kat breaks the number one rule, don’t cross the bridge at midnight and is horrified to come face to face with the headless horseman himself. When spirits start possessing the townsfolk to get to Kat, knowing the legends are true she seeks help from her dads friend Irving Crane and soon finds herself stuck between Brunt (Bones) and Crane just like Katrina Von Tassel. Is fate repeating itself or are Kat, Crane and Bones just pawns in someone else’s game?
This is a fantastic take on a the sleepy hollow legends, the twist was incredible. I assumed this was going to be a MFM ménage between Kat, Crane and Bones but it’s actually a RH that includes the headless horseman! Wonderful.
I love Halloween legends, and I love modern day adaptations of legends. This book was a beautiful marriage of the two. Kat, Crane, and brom....and yes later the headless horseman were quite the grouping to watch struggle with trying to change their fates so the end of the legend would not leave them all dead or miserable.
This duology was a quick and fantastic read. I’m not one to hand out five stars easily, but I would definitely come back to read this book over and over again, earning it all five of those well deserved stars.
