An awesome book. At first, it appeared like an average coffee table book, but the wealth of pictures, the written information and the actual style of writing all took me early in the book and didn't let go even after I finished it. Basically, Evans retells dragon stories from all around the world, adding here and there a bit of information about the art and the world in which the tales were told. Sources are also included at the end of each tale and further readings are listed at the end. Beyond anything, this is just a fun book to read, though the book receives five stars from me because I really appreciate Jonathan Evan's approach to mythology and legend: that it should be looked at with full knowledge of a culture and from their standpoint, not only our own.

La pura verdad con este libro es que me esperaba otra cosa. Me esperaba más fantasía y más variedad de historias. Se queda más bien en un libro con muchas fotografías y parte visual, sobre los dragones en las diferentes culturas a lo largo de la historia. Pero no en dragones como tal, a nivel fantasía, referenciando obras y en qué mitos se basan, o de dónde han salido, de dónde provenie quizá el sentido de crear una fiera así o la nomenclatura. Pero no, se centra más en qué tipo de dragones hay y dónde aparecen, ya sea en mitologías o en religiones, luego algo de arte y poco más. Y se me ha quedado muy corto y muy cojo. Me esperaba algo más intenso, o igual yo es que buscaba otra cosa y me he encontrado con algo demasiado "real".

Si os esperáis un libro que os hable de como el ser humano ha interpretado al dragón, obras, referencias y diferencias en estos animales, éste no es vuestro libro.
Si en cambio lo que queréis es una especie de compendio muy sencillo sobre los dragones en el mundo, con sus resumenes de mitos, muchas obras de arte y algunos toques de religión... pues quizá hasta os gusta.

Creo que para los que nos adentramos en este animal más en un terreno fantástico, con todas las interpretaciones que puede tener, y la cantidad de veces que se ha usado... esta especie de narrativa más obvia de verlo en culturas antiguas, en obras de arte y piezas, sin ahondar más allá, te deja bastante frío.
