Zoe Beauchamp was just enjoying a lunch at work with her dad when the world flipped upside down. Zombies started attacking, and her company was responsible.
It’s suddenly imperative that she brings the small crew of workers still alive from LA to Fort Collins… and the only have a few days to get there in this apocalyptic world before the bunker will close indefinitely and leave them stranded in this zombie-infested world.
I enjoy zombie plots, so right from the start I knew I’d enjoy this book. From the second page, though, I realized that I’d never read a zombie book written for adults before. 😂 I was thrown off by the vivid descriptions of the rotting zombie flesh. Peeling that layer off, though, I really enjoyed the premise. I loved how Zoe stepped up to the plate and was more of a boss than Rick Grimes (yup) because she only grew stronger because of her challenges and she didn’t go crazy or lose her humanity and started killing the living. Also, my inner feminist LOVED that the hero in the book was a woman, rather than just another man with the women cowering in the background waiting to be saved.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The twist at the beginning of part two, then the twist at the end were perfect, setting this zombie novel apart from all the others.
If you can stomach decomposing corpses and groserías muy feas (in Spanish, mostly, but English too), this book is for you!
