On the eve of the greatest invasion the world has ever seen, a quantum leap in technology is at last ready for battle. But bringing a new aircraft into service is no easy thing, prototypes suffer teething problems that must be solved first.
Trading in their trusty Spitfires for the newest fighters in the RAF arsenal, the squadron have been selected to make the jets operational. Using all of their experience, these battle hardened veterans must come together to show what the jets can really do in the crucible of combat.
The author has done an excellent job bringing to life the Meteors introduction into front line service. Great detail spread amongst a good fictional description of squadron life.
The characterization is excellent as is the pace of the novel as it follows the last year of the war in Europe. A must read for all aviation enthusiast and those who simply fancy a good read alike.
An interesting story about the RAF's first je t fighter and it's introduction to service and combat. It reads well with good character development . Not a subject I've seen covered in fiction before. Well worth a read.
