She’s in way over her head.

Bonnie Drummond is from the wrong side of the tracks, raised in a family of liars and criminals. No matter how hard she tries to stay on the straight and narrow, she always finds herself sucked back into the family drama, forced to sacrifice everything she’s earned to protect her family.

But this time they’ve gone too far—crossed the wrong people—and to save them she’ll have to put her life on the line.

Roman Kozlov, enforcer for a New Orleans mafiya family, is the poster child for the life Bonnie is struggling to escape. But he’s also as alluring as he is dangerous, and it doesn’t take long for their lives to begin to mesh.

With Roman, Bonnie finds the family she never had.

As their race for answers heats up, so too does the budding romance between them. And with danger nipping at her heels and love threatening her heart, Bonnie must come face-to-face with her past if she wants to have a future.

Mine to Keep is book three in the NOLA Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. This series is a spin off to her Haven Brotherhood series but you do not need to have read it to enjoy this. Once again Rhenna has written a hero that has stolen my heart, a man of honor with a jaded past. I loved this book!

How to Become a Bartender (For Real) - Chilled Magazine

Bonnie Drummond is twenty five years old. Her entire life, her father and brother have done whatever they could to swindle or cheat the system. Bonnie has spent her entire life trying to distance herself from their activities, living honestly, working two jobs. But they are her family and she loves them. So of course, it’s her that is always having to bail them out. As a result, she has nothing to show for all her hard work and has given up on any dreams. This time, though, she’s afraid they’ve gone too far. She needs help and has no one to turn to. So out of desperation, she calls the only real friend she has, Cassie. But when Cassie comes to get her, she brings Roman!

“Sometimes family built on choice is stronger than those built on blood.”

Roman Kozlov is enforcer and friend to Sergei Petrovyh, head of the New Orleans mafia. Roman came from horrible beginnings in Russia. Now in New Orleans, he does all he can to help boys who were like he was. He’s ashamed of his beginnings. He tries to be a man of honor, live by a moral code. But he is still mafia. When he accompanies Cassie to pick up her friend, Bonnie, the minute he lays eyes on her, she is all he sees. Roman has never attempted an actual relationship. How could he ever expect any woman to accept a man with his past? But for the first time, he wants to try.

Both Bonnie and Roman have secrets they’d rather not share. Roman makes his interest known but his life is everything Bonnie should run from. But the more they get to know each other, the more she is drawn to this man who makes her feel safe and cared for. Roman is bossy and broody, protective and possessive. I loved him. He is proper and insists on treating Bonnie respectfully, even if she fights him every step of the way. Bonnie is rough around the edges, it’s the only way she knows. She has no idea how to take a man like Roman. She keeps waiting for the ugly side of him to show. She’s convinced this can’t all be true.

“Leave the past behind you where it belongs. Give your future to me.”

I loved every single thing about this book as I have this entire series. Something about these men! They love with their entire soul. When Roman fell, he fell hard and Bonnie didn’t have any choice in the matter but to get on board. I loved watching her give in. I loved even more watching Roman woo his woman. I don’t know what Rhenna Morgan is doing next but I can’t wait to find out.

“She was his.
His to provide for.
His to protect.
His to keep.”

I am so torn to trying hard to like this book. I have heard/ read a good praise for Miss Morgan work. So I was excited to pick up Mine to Keep. A promising romance with possesive hero.

While listening to the audiobook, I do not connect with anything. Not even the deep Russian accent. Good thing the book is only 7 hours plus. I keep waiting and waiting for the twist, and nothing is coming with a bang.

So.... anyway... the pandemic is still raging. Still in lockdown.

I'm such a sucker for an honorable bad boy! Roman is mafia with a good heart. He's feared by many, and yet he genuinely cares about good people and shows it in his actions. Take a man like that and see how he treats the woman he falls in love with, and you get gold.

In a way this is a cinderella type of love story. Roman is rich and powerful. Bonnie is poor and in a bad situation. I thoroughly enjoyed how Roman steps in and takes care of Bonnie, all while fixing her situation that her family has put her in.

Bonnie does have some resistance because Roman just seems too good to be true. She is so used to people using her or bailing on her, that she is afraid to believe Roman won't do the same. Roman recognized this in her and pursued her in a way to show her he was different. It's all I could ask for in a hero. Loved it!

Big sigh. Much love for this one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you enjoy alpha males and reading about their complete capitulation into love, this book is a perfect example.
How can you help not enjoying someone who looks out for your every move and watches over you? It makes you feel cherished and important. And that’s exactly what the author has delivered in this exciting story.
With her brother and father both missing, someone is after Bonnie now for what they think she knows. With no one to turn to except a good friend, she finds herself under the watchful eye of Mr. tall, dark, and stunningly muscular, yet brooding Russian.
The heat sparks off of them and even though they’re slow to realize their compulsion for each other, the author builds up the attraction with deliciously spicy results.
Every story I’ve read by this author has been sexy and intriguing. This is no different and I highly encourage you to check out the rest of the stories in the series for a sexy, similar strain. Morgan does alpha Mafia right!
***Update... So I had this thing years ago where I would just pick up a book that sounded good and not pay attention to if there were ones before..... I just picked up this authors Men of Haven series not realizing I have read one of her books before, oops. Well, let me tell you, this book is way better when you read it in order, lol. ****
4 stars!
This was a solid read friends! This mafia book was done a little different than most I have read, because the guys are Russian Mafia, but are now legitimate and living in New Orleans. Yes, I know that doesn't make sense. Now it might be confusing because I of course started on book 3 in this series and not book 1. Its kinda my thing lately. And the only thing I was confused on, was how a bunch of Russian mob guys are not still Russian mob guys - and still alive.
Are they good guys now, no I wouldn't say they are. But they run real business now and only kill people when it is truly necessary. So, yea I guess they are basically the good guys now.
Yea, me either... Basically its not a traditional mafia book. I could just delete the first 2 paragraphs and put that. But then you wouldn't truly understand the chaos that is my brain.
On to the story....
Roman is perfect, he is the best kind of antihero. Extremely loyal to anyone who matters to him. Possessive and throws his alpha vibes around left and right. When he finds what he wants he will stop at nothing to get it and keep it!
"Ah, vozlyublennaya. We will be many things together. But we will never be over."
Bonnie has been cleaning up after her family her entire life. She has never had anyone who truly was at her back and wanting to help her. She is also extremely embarrassed about the life she has lived because of her family so she has not let many close. Her friend Cassie (from book 2) has been trying to push her way into Bonnie's life without much success until Bonnie finally needs someone to help her.
Which is how she meets Roman.
"Leave the past behind you where it belongs. Give your future to me."
These two were not really insta-love. Definite insta-attraction. Roman basically stalks her for a while (my favorite trait of an alpha), and is luckily there to save her. (See stalkers can be handy sometimes). This is really where their story starts. And it is a great ride.
Fun characters, and an easy read with low-angst. You kinda know whats going on from the start with the family, but it won't bug you. The drama and mystery is in the backend of this story.
"A happy woman is the sign of a wise man. You should remember that. "
This can definitely be read as a standalone.
The only real complaint I had was I wish the author told me what more of the Russian terms were - my poor husband had to keep looking up words for me. Granted they might have been in the previous books, so if it was ignore this part.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Wow! Mine to Keep by Rhenna Morgan is on my list of one of the best books I read this year. This is the third book in the NOLA Knights series, and readers can read it as a standalone.
This is my second time entering the world of Morgana, and she did not disappoint. She delivered all I expected.
Mine to Keep featured a protective alpha male and fiery and independent heroine. Readers may think that this being classified as a mafia romance, the theme would be dark in nature. However, this was not the case. The author delivered a sweet, passionate romance sprinkle with humour and suspense. So this would definitely appeal to readers who are not fans of dark themed romances.
In this installment, the reader met Bonnie Drummond, who came from the wrong side of the tracks. Her family may have been undesirable, but she loved them, so even though she may try to distance herself from them, the moment they are in trouble she is there for them. The sacrifices she made in this regard placed a strain on her emotionally and financially. Then her brother finds himself in a bind with the wrong person, placing them all in danger. Once again Bonnie has taken it upon herself to save them. To achieve this, she reached out to a friend who has ties with the New Orleans Mafia. This led to her connecting with Roman Kozlov, a meeting which would change her life in the best way possible.
I found Roman and Bonnie to be a wonderful couple. The chemistry between them leapt from the pages. Their attraction may have been instantaneous, but it took a while for Bonnie to warm up to Roman. She struggled with trust issues, which I understood given her family history. I loved everything about her. Her determination, her sassy nature and her strength of character. She did not have a pretentious bone in her body.
Roman, oh my, be still my beating heart. Protective, romantic and all-around nice guy with a dangerous edge. He had a hard life growing up, one he was not proud of, but it helped to shape him into the person he became.
I enjoyed how their romance developed. Beautiful and riddled with passion and enough emotion to melt the reader’s heart.
I cannot say it enough. Mine to Keep was a fantastic story and one I recommend it with no reservations.This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
One of my most anticipated reads for the year, I'm equal parts scared and excited lol. #currently reading
Spoilers ahead, 3.5*
Bonnie is holding down multiple jobs trying to make ends meet, a visit to her ailing father and troublesome brother leads to a disaster as they are kidnapped. Knowing her family's not so lawful history Bonnie calls on her friend Cassie for help, hoping her Russian boyfriend would be able to help.
Roman is the last of the three men who relocated from Russia to set up business in the US, he accompanies Cassie to her friend's house and is entranced by the lovely spitfire who needs help. While Roman fears that Bonnie won't be able to accept his past he's soon convinced that she's the one for him,his bride, but the consequences of Bonnie's family's choices backfire and she too is taken. In agony at his woman's disappearance Roman will do anything to get her back.
*********
I've got 2 complaints about this book
-they took too long to get together, Bonnie held back because of her past and her life's circumstances but I wanted more time with them together.
-no epilogue!!! Grrrrrr
Aside from those this was another stellar read from an author who quickly became an auto buy for me. Bonnie was a strong and fiery woman but most importantly for me she had a good head on her shoulders. Roman was an Alpha male dream, possessive and bossy yet completely gone for his woman. Within 2 days he was determined that she would be his bride.
No cheating
No OW/OM drama
Minimal details on their pasts though its implied he didn't hook up regularly
h wasn't a virgin
Time to revisit Haven dear author,some of my men still need their stories told 😭
I have loved each of the heroes in this series, but I have to confess, Roman has completely won my heart! For such a fierce character who once was the man to do the dirty jobs, he’s got such a sweet center to him and watching him win Bonnie was totally swoon worthy. I loved the way his rough English worked for him when he was determined to get his way. And holy heck! Roman was so incredibly possessive but without being heavy handed about it. He’s definitely going down as one of my top favorite heroes of all time!
Ubud: 3-Hour Silver Jewelry Making Class - Ubud, Indonesia | GetYourGuide
Bonnie also won my heart which isn’t something a lot of heroines can claim to do. She was one tough woman and yet she had such vulnerability to her I couldn’t help but love her and want the best for her. When Roman steps in to help make things easier for her, my heart just melted for her as she experiences things that she’s never had the chance to experience before.
♐♏
This felt like a fast read due to the constant flow of the storyline and the development of the characters. It has the perfect balance of drama, angst, sizzling chemistry, outside obstacles and secondary characters that supported this hero and heroine. I was completely engrossed within the pages of this book as it caught me up within Roman’s and Bonnie’s lives. I absolutely HATED that it ended because I definitely need more of them both.
Huge recommendation for anyone who enjoys romance of any subgenre.
I loved Roman a big, yummy, sexy Russian. Bonnie was in a bad place, and he rescues her. He helps her and her family and saves the day (along with help from his friends). Why can't authors give me an epilogue a little in the future with the rest of the NOLA knights and the Haven boys?
AHHH!! I am so obsessed with the Nola Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. The previous two books in the series have been amazing and I could not wait to read Roman's book! Roman and Bonnie were absolutely incredible!! I loved their chemistry, intensity and overall banter.
Roman was intense and protective. Like his Russian brothers in the previous two books he was dominant but with a heart of gold. I love how enthralled he was with Bonnie and the addicting suspense throughout the story.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and can not wait for more from this author in the future. 5 stars! ~Ratula
Mine To Keep is the latest addition to Rhenna Morgan’s “Mafia like” series and boy I have to say she keeps delivering on all the treasures here. I adore seeing it. I will say that this story was so magnificent in many ways and if you love alpha protective males in contemporary romance, what are you waiting for on this one or even this series? I have really admired the strength that we have come to see within this author’s writing. Its always interesting to see the way she will bring certain characters in the same frame as we see here. I will mention that even though this is mafia romance, I wouldn’t ever categorize it “Dark Romance” as most Mafia themed romances are also in that sub category within the romance genre. Its essential to understand that its definitely lighter toned. So if you are even curious about “mafia romance” this series is definitely a great way to get introduced into it with.
So the story….well its fire and crazy in many elements but simply fantastic. Bonnie Drummond is from the other side. She grew up with her father and brother and is always having to use her savings to get them out of trouble financially. She is the responsible one of the family, working towards getting to a better place, but they are definitely a drain on her both financially and emotionally. But her love for her family never allows her on giving up on them until….now. When her brother gets involved with some dangerous people in town, and both her brother and father are taken, she needs help. So she reaches out to her friend who is affiliated with the New Orleans Mafia family and what she never expected to find is friendship, acceptance and love with Roman Kozlov. But her life is in danger and she will need to learn to humble herself and open herself up to this new found family, before she loses all of whom she loves dearly.
Mine To Keep is a powerful story and quite addicting. The writing that Rhenna Morgan implements within this book is empowering on a variety of levels. The moment I picked this one up, I just couldn’t put this treasure down and was captivated by Roman and Bonnie’s romance. Bonnie, I will admit was difficult at times. Her pride and stubborness really get in the way and she has learn along the way to open herself to others. For so long, she has had to be closed off to others to protect herself, but with Roman and the others, we see her grow and accept the changes that are happening within her life. The romance that builds between between these two is beautiful and I just couldn’t help but be consummed by the level of emotion this author conveys within the story. Superb in every way.
“Mine to Keep”, Bonnie and Roman’s romance, is the third story in the NOLA Knights Series. Bonnie’s brother and father go missing, and in a panic, she calls her friend Cassie. Cassie comes to her aid, and introduces her to Roman, sparks fly from their first meet. Roman is the same alpha protective Russian as the other two heroes in the series, but we get a glimpse into his inner turmoil. He is a killer, an enforcer, and he doubts that Bonnie can love him if she learns the truth about him. Bonnie is ashamed of her background and family, so she is also reluctant to trust anyone. Ninette from Men of Haven, makes a cameo appearance, and offers Bonnie some very good advice. Bonnie realizes Ninette is from similar a background, appreciates the advice and takes it to heart. I thought this was excellent use of the MoH characters - more than just a drive by cameo, but a real advance to the story. This romance is a wonderful fantasy - a man with unlimited resources, and his only goal is to make the heroine happy. Roman and Bonnie’s story is a wonderful romance, and I highly recommend it. I received an ARC, but it did not affect my review.
OMG! “Mine To Keep” is the 3rd upcoming, romantic suspense must read with hunky heroes & strong feisty women, who have overcome so much, but then find their own HEA, against all odds! This phenomenal page-turner had me glued to my seat not wanting to stop! ... Once again I was blown away from the get-go, as no-one tells a story like Rhenna Morgan! She reels the reader in and breathes life into her characters with clever dialogue, amazing attention-to-detail, plus surprises, twists & turns in fresh new plots! ... It’s like a movie in living color only playing in your mind! ... Take our H/h here, Roman & Bonnie whose push & pull, steamy hot, slow-burn chemistry is off the charts! ... I strongly recommend reading all 3 connected “Nola Knights” books in order for your maximum reading pleasure :) ... Also, I highly recommend this to 18+ adult fans of fiction, coz I do know when a book should get 6 stars, IMHO! ... So run, don’t walk to pre-order your own copy now! ... I already did, even tho I volunteered to read this early, it was without any outside influences & these are my own true feelings! Now, back to waiting again for more best sellers by this talented author!
I love Roman and Bonnie's story. When Bonnie is faced with her missing family she has no one to call except Cassie but she doesn't want to involve Cassie with her family. But that call was the best decision she could have made because it brought Roman into her life. Read the journey they take together. A dark knight in scuffed armor.
So good! I’ve been anxiously waiting for Roman’s story. Bonnie is so perfect for him! A great addition to the series. Bonnie and Roman both have much to overcome. Each thinks the other unworthy. Roman is so romantic and the lengths he goes to, to win Bonnie’s heart, are so swoony! The action and drama really takes a backseat to the romance of this story.
I’m disappointed in this. Each book has gotten progressively worse, in my opinion. Since I gave the last book 3 stars, I had no choice but to give this one 2 stars. The audio is the only reason I kept going with this book.
She was his. His to provide for. His to protect. His to keep. The second he’d kissed her he’d known it. Felt it on the most primitive level, all the whispered clues given by his instinctual self from the day he’d met her instantly roaring with certainty.
Bonnie Drummond (25) had to put her dreams on hold and take on multiple jobs to both pay for her father’s medical expenses and cover his gambling debts. When she visits her dad and brother, trouble comes busting in, and she ends up calling her friend, Cassie, for help since she’s married to a Russian badass.
Since Cassie’s husband, Kir, is out-of-town, his brother Roman Kozlov (38-ish, restaurant manager, Bratva enforcer), accompanies Cassie to see what trouble her friend is in.
He was a devil. A collector of souls with more blood on his hands than he could ever wash away or atone for. But he was past the point of caring. She would know him and all of his secrets—just as soon as he won her heart. Whatever it took, he would get there. Starting with a very physical show of his devotion.
Even though Roman is instantly smitten, he has no plans to pursue Bonnie because he thinks the life he leads is too dark. His feelings start to change when he sees someone attack her, so he moves her into his home to keep her safe. His feelings change and he decides he’s going to marry her, once he gets her to admit they’re a couple.
“Because you have gone without too long. Because it gives me pleasure to share my good fortune with you and to introduce you to new things in a way you will enjoy. But mostly, because I want you to realize—to me, you are worth everything.”
They “investigate” her danger issues, Bonnie adjusts to a lavish lifestyle, a bunch of boring stuff, we find out who done it, HEA.
SEX: Ugh. The sex isn’t nearly as good as in the first two books. Their first time is at 58% and they use condoms. He’s pretty much a one-pump chump, and eventually it’s just half a pump. None of it was memorable. The only thing that made any of it enjoyable was the audio.
APPRECIATED: Much like the first two books, when Roman dictates something, it is so. Bonnie puts up a teeny-tiny argument when he says she’s going to move it, and when he takes her shopping. I love this part. I hate when FMCs hold onto their independence forever. It’s so annoying.
BORED: This one was so boring. The entire time they’re supposed to be investigating what happened to her father and brother, it’s just boring, non-important shit. Going shopping, having a BBQ, discussing her dreams, etc. During the BBQ scene, they had a ton of people attend from other books and we had to listen to every single introduction and a recap of how that couple met and what they did. None of it mattered to me.
AUDIO: As with the other books, John Lane narrates and his growly voice for Roman’s parts are TO DIE FOR. His voice makes me willing to listen to a badly written book just to hear him boss me around!
The only reason I’d recommend it is for the audio.
Mine to Keep Rhenna Morgan
NOLA Knights #3
Loved this book but then, I expected I would since I have loved every book I have read by this author! Once started I could not stop reading…had to find out just how Bonnie and Roman would manage their happily ever after. I was caught just as quickly and as tightly as Roman caught Bonnie! Great story
What I liked:
* Bonnie: smart, sassy, a good woman that made the best of a bad situation. She cared for her family even though they did not always take care of her. She so deserved to be found, loved and protected by Roman.
* Roman: intelligent, strong, lethal, an enforcer and made man with compassion and strong love for those he considered his family. He was perfect for Bonnie and deserved her love. He was also HOT stuff in more than one way…an alpha male through and through.
* Seeing Sergei, Evie and Emerson Petrovyn along with Cassie and Kir Vasilek as well as also getting to see some of the men and women from the Haven series. I love both groups of people!
* That strong men known for being ruthless businessmen also have a soft loving side for those they care about and consider family.
* That it was well written
* That I cared what would happen to the characters
* That I knew Roman had a ruthless side…not sure *I* know anyone like that but do enjoy meeting them in fiction.
* The connection between Bonnie and Roman
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* The person who kidnapped Bonnie’s father and brother
* That Bonnie had such a tough time before meeting Roman
* Having to say goodbye to the characters…wouldn’t mind being a member of their family!
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Carina for the ARC – This is my honest review.
You can not improve perfection. ~ Roman Kozlov
*Swoon* I absolutely LOVED this book. It's the best in the series so far. Roman was the perfect alpha Hero and really made this book. I love a good alpha male, but oftentimes, they are overwhelming and come off as being too heavy-handed and insistent on getting their way. That was not the case at all with Roman, which is surprising given what we knew of him before. Yes, Roman knew what he wanted and went after it. But he was gentle with Bonnie, considered her feelings, spoiled her, was there to protect her (until he wasn't), and gave her time to accept that she was 'his queen' and 'his Bride.' He also showed that he was vulnerable when around Bonnie and I appreciated that in an alpha. Don't get me wrong, he was still someone you didn't want to cross and would do what was necessary to protect his family, but he showed a gentler side with Bonnie. And all those sweet nothings ... *fans myself.*
Bonnie was also a wonderful heroine. She was sassy, spoke her mind, was head-strong, but also heeded the advice of others when necessary (until she didn't). She put up with her dysfunctional family for so long and kept being there for them, even if it meant she had to give up things she needed in life. She was the only good apple in the bunch, yet she was afraid to give Roman a chance at first because she didn't think she was good enough for him. I loved that she saw the best in Roman even when he was afraid she'd run from him once she found out his past.
They just made such a cute perfect couple. Bonnie could hold her own against Roman and Roman always made Bonnie feel cherished.
There is some suspense/drama as you expect from Ms. Morgan. One part made me tear up :-( I expected the suspense to be the main focus given how the book started, but I'm glad the romance was the main focus since it made me really get to know Roman & Bonnie and fall in love with both characters.
I'm looking forward to the next book. I hope it's Bonnie's brother!
Mr. Bossy Pants!!
Bonnie has had a rough life and trust is not an emotion that comes easy. She is tough and street smart.
“Sorry. I’m snarky on even my best days, but today’s been a killer.”
One spitfire who’d fought and clawed to keep herself whole and healthy despite the nest of vipers and narcissists she’d been born into had humbled him and left him speechless like no other.
Roman would do anything for his family. Russian Alpha male, protective, sexy, swoon worthy bad boy with a heart of gold. When he makes up his mind there is no stopping him from claiming what is his.
“The life you once knew has drastically changed.”
She was his. His to provide for. His to protect. His to keep. The second he’d kissed her he’d known it. Felt it on the most primitive level, all the whispered clues given by his instinctual self from the day he’d met her instantly roaring with certainty.
From the very first Haven book until now this series has been on the top of my favorite list. Every book just gets better than the last.
5 Star All The Way!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.
I super LOVED this book! It’s the third story in the spin-off series from Rhenna Morgan's Men of Haven books. And it’s one of my favorite reads of 2020.
If you like alpha-tastic heroes, look no further than this series. Sergei, Kir, and now, Roman are all the kind of yummylicious hotness that I absolutely adore in book boyfriends. Gah, how they speak and treat their women? OMG. Wow. Where can I get me some of that? 🔥🥰❤️
If you’re a fan of Ms Morgan, a fan of her Men of Haven series, a fan of the first NOLA Knights book, you have to read this one! You will fall in love with Roman. Ahhhhhh. ❤️❤️❤️ I cannot say enough good things about this entire series. I highly recommend it.
Omg!!!... I don’t even know where to start! I have been waiting for months to read Bonnie and Roman’s story and as usual Rhenna did not disappoint. I have been hooked on this series and a little obsessed....lol, from since the first moment I read Rough and Rumble. This is my first time receiving and arc and I was so so excited to be one of the lucky ones. I fell in love with this book from the get go... the only thing that I would have liked to see is an epilogue showing Roman and Bonnie a little more down in the years with probably a bun in the oven or something to that extent. But all in all.... it was a fantastic read and to be very honest.... I will sincerely miss the Haven and Nola crew. Keep up the excellent work Rhenna🤗🥳
Ok, first...I did read this as an ARC. But that didn't influence this review.
I will say I was waiting for this (book 3) and was thrilled to read all about these characters again! I have missed them!!
The way the Men of Haven were brought into this series is great and I love reading Roman's HEA!
I LOVED Bonnie's spunk and spirit, a perfect edition to the group.
As always, a home run, Rhenna! Thank you for this one!❤😁
I HIGHLY recommend reading this series in order to get the most from this story. The Men of Haven first, then the NOLA series. You won't regret it!!
Romance at its finest. Roman Kozlov, the Enforcer of the NOLA Knights, protector of innocents, mentor, true gentleman is the champion to Bonnie Drummond's fairy tale. Bonnie has worked hard to overcome the absence of a normal lifestyle however fear has gripped her consciousness. Fear of intimacy with family and friends. Roman sees her expressive eyes, understands her emotions because he had felt the same. Feelings of not measuring up, being worthy of a good life. It all changes when Roman and Bonnie admit their true feelings for each other. Beautifully written.
I don’t know really why this book has 5 stars from some of my fav reviewers. It was good, but also boring and stagnant for a lot of it. I love a good Russian bad boy mafia romance, but there was very limited action. Oh well.
I think what made this one so much fun to read was how Bonnie reaching out to Cassie for help seemed to take a life on it's own once the Russian's entered the picture. Bonnie really didn't know what to do and was so out of her element that panic was her base line. Cassie and Evie tried to help, but it seemed like the more they tried to calm Bonnie down all it did was wind her up more. It also didn't help that Roman seemed to take one look at Bonnie and decided she was his, so his moved were often high handed and he rolled over Bonnie, always keeping her safety in mind. I loved how it was an "old woman" Bonnie didn't know that was finally able to get through to her, to help her see that where she found herself was the best possible place for her, surrounded by friends and people that would 100% help her for nothing other than friendship and love.
It seemed like once Bonnie had that in her head things were smoother for her. She didn't bristle (as much) at some of Roman's ways, but more saw the underlying theme, he would do whatever it took to take care of her and always make sure she was comfortable, not matter the situation. Things got a bit sticky when they all learned what was going on with Bonnie's family and had to deal with the bad guys. I think Roman and his crew took the right path, it was genius in the way it would screw the bad guy over. It's just too bad things went a bit crazy. I hated what Bonnie had to go through, but she finally learned how much she was loved.
I really liked the ending to this one, liked that Bonnie was happy with her new life and all the open roads ahead of her.
Strong Sexy Russian. Sassy strong willed leading lady.
So much love for this one.
A perfect example of an alpha male who falls completely into love with the girl who doesn’t think she deserves to be loved or good enough for him.
Bonnie Drummond is twenty-five years old. Her entire life, her father and brother have done whatever they could cheat the system. Bonnie has made her life’s goal to distance herself from their activities, living honestly, working hard for everything she has. But Family… Bonnie is always having to bail them out of one problem or another. Doing everything she can to help them keep their heads above water. Because of this she has nothing. She doesn’t even have dreams to fall back on. But this time her brother and dad are in real trouble. She doesn’t know what to do or who to turn to. So out of pure desperation, she calls the only real friend she has. Bonnie finds herself under the watchful eye of Mr. tall, dark, and stunningly muscular, yet brooding Russian.
Roman is a man with a past. Loyal to his family and working to help those who have had a similar start to life. He has a goodness he doesn’t share beneath the layers of his dented armor. Roman is thoughtful and meticulous with the choices he makes. You find just how big he truly loves.
So many sparks between these two. The build up this story is amazing. There is a bit of a slow burn aspect as she is fighting her feelings and he worries about his tainted past. But once caution is thrown to the wind the heat is on.
I was happy to be back visiting New Orleans with the characters in the NOLA Knights series and small glimpses of the Men of Haven. These stories do stand alone on their own but if you like sexy alpha men who walk the line you must read all these stories. Every story I’ve read by this author has been sexy and intriguing.
Morgan has a magic when she creates these men and women. The women are unique and beautiful beyond the physical. I always anticipate her books like a child on Christmas Morning. I want to know who is next and what is going to happen. Bonnie and Roman are pure magic on the page.
Bonnie is a girl who keeps to the straight and narrow. She always does the right thing and is working hard to make a better life for herself. She is tired of having to bail out her father and brother from their debts and bad decisions. When she goes to her father’s house, she finds herself in the middle of something sinister and calls the one person she can count on, her friend Cassie. When Cassie shows up with a Russian mobster, Bonnie does know if she should trust him or turn tail and run as far as she can from him.
With Roman to the rescue, he quickly takes Bonnie under his protection and vows to keep her safe at all costs. Bonnie does not understand what being under protection means, and she finds herself living at Romans house and leading a very different life than she has ever known. Can Roman keep her safe and guard his heart? Will Bonnie start trusting her new family as they keep searching for her father and brother?
What a face paced read this was. I really enjoyed Bonnie and Romans’ story. I loved catching up with the previous characters from the series as well. This had all the makings of a great book, a mystery, a feisty heroine, a handsome strong male hero, and a group of supporting characters that had their own amazing stories. I did not read the whole series, but had no problems catching up as the author did an excellent job of filling the reader in on the back stories. Thank you so much to the author Rhenna Morgan, Carina Press (Harper Collins Publishing) and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.
I love Rhenna Morgan’s Haven Brotherhood series 💙💙💙. A few of those books are something that I have been rereading during this pandemic season. Escaping into a fun fantasy world is just what I need. NOLA Knights is a spinoff of the Haven series and there are some recurring characters, which is super fun to see. You can read the book as a stand alone, but I am very particular about my series reading 😉
Our two main characters (who don’t know they are looking for love...yet) are Bonnie Drummond and Roman Kozlov. Bonnie has tried to do her best to get away from her family that does any thing to cheat the system or con someone out of their money. Roman is an enforcer for Sergei Petrovyh and making strides in getting his own businesses up and running. He has a dark past and feels that he is not worthy of anything good in his life. He is trying to make up for things he did by moving forward as a man of honor.
Bonnie’s father is sick and there is not a lot of money to pay for his medical bills. Bonnie works all the time, but it’s difficult for her to make ends meet. He brother and father go missing one night and Bonnie calls the only person she can think of to talk to. She calls Cassie and she brings the mafia! Bonnie doesn’t want any shady dealings, but she doesn’t expect to have feelings for Roman. Roman just came along to do his job and help someone in need, but things quickly changed as sparks started flying between him and Bonnie.
I love that this book explores shades of gray in the world and in actions people take. Rhenna Morgan is a master at writing alpha characters who are bound and determined to keep their women safe and to provide for them. It may be a swoony fantasy, but it sure is a hot and sexy world to escape into. Throughout the series, she has her characters leave their past behind them and start over with a person they have fallen in love with. Roman loves with his entire soul and it takes a while for Bonnie to learn to trust him and allow him to take care of her. If you are ready for a strong, sexy Russian to fall in love with...you need to read this book!
I absolutely loved Roman and Bonnie's story. This series has quickly become one of my favorites. This book features a grumpy Russian and a headstrong heroine. I highly recommend this series to everyone.
A great ending to a passionate and intriguing series. Roman and Bonnie were funny, sweet, heartwrenching and heartwarming. Can't wait for whatever comes next from Ms Morgan.
