In 1884, Peter Kiewit and his older brother Andrew began a small masonry contracting partnership in Omaha, Nebraska. Naming the new enterprise Kiewit Brothers, their pioneering work established the foundation for what would become Kiewit Corporation, one of the largest and most successful construction companies in the world. Through the years, Kiewit has expanded beyond its roots in commercial building construction into the transportation, mining, water resources, power, oil and gas, underground, electrical, and marine market segments. Kiewit is projected to generate nearly $10 billion of revenues as it celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2009. The book chronicles the impressive growth of a company that has persevered, adapted, and thrived for more than a century. It is one of the most highly regarded contracting companies in the world because it remains faithful to the corporate goal set in 1946 by the late Peter to be the best contracting organization on the Earth.

Good history of the key role that Peter Kiewit played starting this company on it's path to success. Buffet's intro nicely launches that. After the early years, this book catalogs many of the notable leaders, divisions and builds of Kiewit.
