For men and women overwhelmed by life's constant juggling act -- the struggle to balance work, relationships, children, finances, chores, and more -- Anne Wilson Schaef clears the way to serenity and joy. With her signature wisdom, insight, and humor, Schaef shows us how to stop living at the mercy of frenzy and chaos and start savoring daily moments that center, calm, and nourish us. Contemplation and ultimately practical actions come together to help us tune into ourselves, be still and mindful, lighten up, laugh, and revel in the adventure of every day.
Some great points to consider throughout this book, but I felt that often the author would start in one direction then make a turn in a completely different direction. It was often confusing. The quotes used at the beginning of each day were my favorite aspect of the daily meditations.
This is one of those books you are supposed to read every day for a year. Idea = great. Theme = great. Execution = terrible. Maybe one in twenty was worth the page on which it was written.
Schaef knocked it out of the park with Escape From Intimacy, but this format is not a good fit for her approach and style: Some entries didn't even make sense. Many had nothing to do with the theme of the book. So many others were so clearly filler I simply couldn't keep reading.
This book will be my impetus for looking into the Kindle return/exchange policy.
I have used this book as a major daily support throughout my journey into a life of abstinence. These past 6 years have been at times harrowing as well as an honest self appraisal which have led to acceptance and, finally, joy. The scale has tipped to more joy as I grow in this process.
I liked it a bit better than the first one but that might have been just where I was in my life. I have made progress in doing less and this book continued me along that path.
